If we suddenly had to go into a 3 month lockdown again, how would you feel?

I think people would definitely comply. If it was Mpox I would want a smallpox vaccine as it's somewhat effective.

Sorry but no one is going to follow a Government crying wolf the second time.

Unless there comes a time when they aren’t crying wolf, and it’s the real deal.

I really don't think most people would comply and I also think we'd see widespread unrest if they tried to enforce it.

SnowFrogJelly · 16/08/2024 00:51

We just don't want to think about that now

OpalBird · 16/08/2024 00:51

This time around, I wouldn't comply. Too much at stake for my son's mental health which was seriously affected last time. I would have to find work arounds.

Greigeisthelatestbeige · 16/08/2024 00:54

I wouldn't comply.

Nor will I ever test for covid again.

I am surprised at the number of people on this thread who seemingly enjoyed lockdown. Perhaps the type of thread attracts those people more and most others don't care enough to even open it.

ILoveToCleanSaidNooneEver · 16/08/2024 00:54

I was obviously upset about the reasons we had to, but I did enjoy lockdown. Not having to make plans. It was my 40th and any decision of a party was taken away, and all I felt was relief. I liked the quietness of lockdown.

I don't think this will come to anything but I actually can't believe some people on here if their was a disease that mainly killed children (not necessarily this one) going around you wouldn't go into lockdown to protect them. I would die for my children and you can't even stay at home and bake banana bread for yours

I enjoyed lockdowns but I wouldn't comply. My son's mental health couldn't handle it. I'm not saying I'd go to populated places because I wouldn't. I have someone medically vulnerable in my household. But I do have to find a way to get my child out or it's going to get really ugly for him. So I wouldn't actually care about a lock down myself, but wouldn't comply as a caregiver.

I’m not debating the wisdom of the international policy of lockdowns during covid, but I am surprised at the glib ´I’d love another lockdown’ comments. It was an utterly horrific experience for many and particularly, of course, the most vulnerable; children, elderly, poor, isolated, abused. Awful. I lived a highly privileged experience during the lockdowns - indeed the reset took me down a new and highly fulfilling path - but the idea of people having to go through that again is terrible. Everyone knows this really. On that basis I would probably largely comply if there’s international and cross-part support for a lockdown because they know it’s the least best option.

I'm isolated. I felt I was better placed psychologically than many who struggled with lockdown - I was already used to it, coping strategies in full swing. My very elderly parents were the same. It was sad that we couldn't see each other for a while, but we have the phone - and would've had video if they weren't such technophobes!

The people I felt sorry for were the 'key workers' having to deal with selfish fuckwits and/or fuckwit management, and any who got trapped with abusers.

You've literally described covid lockdown you was still allowed to go out just not to populated places. I took the kids on walks everyday during lockdown. But that was for a disease that mainly killed the elderly and vulnerable if this one kills kids then no the garden would be as far as I would take them. I would protect my children at all costs but I really don't think its actually going to happen but this is what social media does it creates scenarios and people believe them then panic unnecessarily

UghFletcher · 16/08/2024 01:03

Nope, no way.

The last lockdown battered me mentally and the ongoing effects for the kids are awful in from those who missed pre school through to those who missed GCSEs/ ALevels and are going into the working world.

My partner and I both had jobs that weren't furloughed so we were working from home with 2 kids and it was a nightmare at the best of times.

I'd wear a mask, wash my hands, keep a safe distance etc... but dear god not another lockdown.

Fivebyfive2 · 16/08/2024 01:07

I probably would to be honest. I'm classed as vulnerable and have a young son so I'd want to protect us both as much as possible.

Saying that, I'd move in with my parents for the duration so we'd still be able to see and support each other.

Everybody would people are just all talk especially if it was a disease that killed children. People on this thread make me laugh I wouldn't comply because of my mh as it means i cant go out but don't think their kids being dead would effect their mental health. But again I really don't think it will actually happen so I don't think its anything to worry about but it is a interesting topic for a thread.

I don't know if I'd cope. I lost my husband during the last one. (He died of a heart attack.)

I have no immediate family and no one that I can "bubble" with. After arranging a restricted funeral, returning to an empty house and coping on my own I barely made it out with my sanity intact.

After the way certain government officials behaved last time round, I'm not sure how trusting I would be.

PoopedAndScooped · 16/08/2024 01:15

Noone would comply

I'm sorry for your loss but please don't worry it's not going to happen. Covid was an unknown virus this isn't

PoopedAndScooped · 16/08/2024 01:23

I dont think the country could financially afford to lockdown again

Idloveabiscuit · 16/08/2024 01:23

Not a chance in hell am I doing lockdown again.

we spent 2023 in our own lockdown due to a relative’s health and being worried COVID was still about.

I may be cautious about what I do but I’ll be seeing my family regardless

PoopedAndScooped · 16/08/2024 01:24

Differentstarts · 16/08/2024 01:17

I would

Its never gonna happen
The country financially could not cope

ForGreyKoala · 16/08/2024 01:25

I enjoyed lockdown last time so would do it again if necessary. I don't have health anxiety, and I'm not particularly worried about MPox however.

I think they'd find the money if 10 percent of children where dying that's a lot. That's like 3 kids from every school class
