If we suddenly had to go into a 3 month lockdown again, how would you feel?

I think people would definitely comply. If it was Mpox I would want a smallpox vaccine as it's somewhat effective.

It was rubbish having to cook constantly though wasn't it?

No takeaways or eating out, not even a pastie from a proper bakery 😫

The only people that would comply with future lockdowns are those with health anxiety.

I certainly wouldn't.

Don't be daft.

Some of us are clinically vulnerable. We'd have to be suicidal not to comply, however boring it was.

I was abused through the covid pandemic. I often look back and wish for the banana bread, house party, TikTok dance type of lockdown. So for that reason I’d comply (and get the mixing bowls out😂)

I’m so sorry you went through that. I left my abusive ex a couple of years before Covid and I thought of all the women and children experiencing locked down abuse with terrible sympathy. 💐

elliejjtiny · 16/08/2024 00:16

I wouldn't mind but I wouldn't be doing battle with my dc over home learning again.

Crushedcandy · 16/08/2024 00:16

I complied with Covid lockdown and and was separated from my children and grandchildren for more months than I can bear to remember. Not because I feared for myself but I had a fear of putting a foot wrong and causing harm to my family. It all seems like a crazy dream to me now looking back on it. It almost broke me. I won’t be doing it again and I’d rather take a long walk off a short pier.

I’m having flashbacks now to that weasel faced fuckwit Hancock and the Don’t Kill Granny slogan. Is it any wonder we have a high incidence of mental health issues in our teenage population?

boredaf · 16/08/2024 00:25

I would follow the rules mostly, as I did last time.

I don’t want another one though. I didn’t have it bad, not at all, but it’s not a time I look back at fondly either. I think home schooling mixed with a very uncomfortable pregnancy which turned into a very unsettled screaming infant whilst my partner looked at me disapprovingly from the computer at my inability to keep the kids quiet whilst he worked killed any good lockdown vibes for me.

rainbowbee · 16/08/2024 00:29

I wouldn't mind not going into office at all but I would struggle with everything else. I complied the last time and it was difficult on my own. I also put on a stone that year and it was a bitch to shift.
I have an 8 year old nephew and his group at school are still not quite as they should be owing to being so disrupted starting out. That would be horrible to see again, as would students having their university experience solely through a laptop (and a few years later coming into the workplace extremely immature).
So..personally I'd do a month before cracking. Hopefully it won't come to it.

Garlicfest · 16/08/2024 00:33

I'd feel well-prepared 😆 Just need a few extra packs of bog roll, and I'm ready to avoid all the numpties spreading infections around!

SpiritAdder · 16/08/2024 00:11

If being a sheep means staying alive during a pandemic, then baaa baaa ypu bet I’m a big fluffy white sheep…better that than six feet under.

I bet you were paid to sit on your arse at home too.

leroan · 16/08/2024 00:34

I'd look forward to more furlough payments and another bounce back loan!

Hanniel · 16/08/2024 00:34

Me and DH would both love it, the kids less so this time around as they're older.

However, I wouldn't for a second wish it on those people who genuinely suffered as a result of lockdowns.

1dayatatime · 16/08/2024 00:35

Sorry but no one is going to follow a Government crying wolf the second time.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 16/08/2024 00:36

I wouldn't comply and don't know of anyone else that would.

Chaoseverywhere · 16/08/2024 00:36

NorthernGirlie · 15/08/2024 23:01

It won't happen but I'd love it. Ds would too - we remember Covid lockdowns fondly.

Me too. I enjoyed it so much

Fiftyand · 16/08/2024 00:37

WhiteButtonMoon · 15/08/2024 23:12

This makes me feel so angry.
The government paying people to have a lovely time at home.
I was angry about furlough at the time, and I'm even angrier about it now. As in really, really angry about it.

Why are you so angry?

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 16/08/2024 00:37

If it was something that was killing children then yes I would

Londisc · 16/08/2024 00:38

I’m not debating the wisdom of the international policy of lockdowns during covid, but I am surprised at the glib ´I’d love another lockdown’ comments. It was an utterly horrific experience for many and particularly, of course, the most vulnerable; children, elderly, poor, isolated, abused. Awful. I lived a highly privileged experience during the lockdowns - indeed the reset took me down a new and highly fulfilling path - but the idea of people having to go through that again is terrible. Everyone knows this really. On that basis I would probably largely comply if there’s international and cross-part support for a lockdown because they know it’s the least best option.

oakleaffy · 16/08/2024 00:38

Bloody air travel is how these contagions spread. We need proper quarantines at borders, ALL borders.

Absolutely. It's beggar's belief how travel went right back to normal after Covid. People don't fucking learn.

Differentstarts · 16/08/2024 00:43

I don't think this will come to anything but I actually can't believe some people on here if their was a disease that mainly killed children (not necessarily this one) going around you wouldn't go into lockdown to protect them. I would die for my children and you can't even stay at home and bake banana bread for yours

DangerDangerHighMoisture · 16/08/2024 00:43

Not a chance we'd comply. Lockdown was fine last time (good weather, Dh worked from home, lots of time as a family) but no chance people would comply again so it'll never happen (unless maybe if there was an outbreak with scarily high morbidity rate).

claretblue79 · 16/08/2024 00:43

@Berlinlover So what were people who were furloughed to do if their place of employment had to be closed? Would you rather that they had no money and starved. It was hardly their fault.

TiredCatLady · 16/08/2024 00:44

Work flogged me half to death during the last ones and I ended up ill through that. No furlough or enjoying the weather.

If it were to happen again, I’d appreciate a weeks notice so I can book a flight out of here and work from wherever for 3 months without queuing for supermarkets, doing battle for staple goods and having my exercise regime dictated to me.

You have to seriously ask why some people have DC when they are willing to let other DC die just so they can go to the pub.
