If we suddenly had to go into a 3 month lockdown again, how would you feel?

I think people would definitely comply. If it was Mpox I would want a smallpox vaccine as it's somewhat effective.

The way things are at work at the moment I’d go for it. We’ve had a change of management which has completely destroyed the place, I’m drowning in work, and would love to breathe again.

Mespher · 15/08/2024 23:13

I wouldn't, I'm retired so lockdown is no benefit for me.

SpaceRaiders · 15/08/2024 23:13

I don’t think many would comply this time given what we’ve since learned. Personally I think i’d pack up and try and escape before borders closed.

Ilovetowander · 15/08/2024 23:15

Absolutely not - the damage lockdown did far exceeded the benefits. The impact on young people was dreadful and in my view that is too high a price to pay.

Clingfilm · 15/08/2024 23:15

I would still see my parents and in-laws this time, no matter what the rules.
I complied for covid and I'm still sad about that lost time, especially since those fuckers doing party gate came out.
It just wouldn't happen again, the world has changed.

namechangeforthisi · 15/08/2024 23:15

Do you think it will happen ?

Starlightstarbright3 · 15/08/2024 23:16

It won't happen in our lifetime..Anyone with children from birth to now 20's will be aware of things our kids missed out on and no one has given any support how to improve that.

The fact of all party gate nonsense when people couldn't attend funerals , loved ones who died alone again it would never happen.

I worked all through lockdown . My job I am in closed through lockdown..My Mh would be down the toilet if we locked down.

Also remember we had 3 lockdowns . each once became less effective that the last, businesses found loopholes how to get round the law, card shops were selling milk - deliveries at the begining were scarce last lockdown back to normal.

Hummusanddipdip · 15/08/2024 23:17

Unlikely it would happen.
As much as it would be lovely in the sense that I'd get to repeat with dc2 what I did with dc1 and basically extend my maternity leave by 6 months. That was probably the only positive I could find about covid.

Overthebow · 15/08/2024 23:18

I wouldn't lock down again or isolate. It went too far last time and there's no way I'd do it again.

MonsteraMama · 15/08/2024 23:18

WhiteButtonMoon · 15/08/2024 23:12

This makes me feel so angry.
The government paying people to have a lovely time at home.
I was angry about furlough at the time, and I'm even angrier about it now. As in really, really angry about it.

What was the alternative? I'm immunocompromised, my job insisted I be furloughed as it wasn't safe, I was supposed to just what? Not eat?

Mebebecat · 15/08/2024 23:18

Well if there is a one in ten mortality rate as is being suggested with this type of mpox, then we'll be locked down again if significant numbers get infected in the UK. How many dying people could we cope with? And children particularly vulnerable this time too.
This brand of the disease is airborne and more transmissible it seems. So we can only hope this crisis can be be contained.

SpiritAdder · 15/08/2024 23:19

For the record, I would comply with any lockdown.
Studied enough plagues to know that they do work and those just going about like normal are only going to win a Darwin Award.

ALovelyCupOfNameChange · 15/08/2024 23:20

hindsight is a wonderful thing. A lot of the first lockdown (and compliance) came from not knowing what covid was & how it spread. A lot of things seem mental now, but they were the right thing at the time because we didn’t know what we were dealing with.

id comply, its only implemented if its needed.

Needanadultgapyear · 15/08/2024 23:20

Last lockdowns I had to go out to work everyday and it broke me. Right now nothing better I could think of better than staying home for 3 months in fact I fantasise about it.

TeabySea · 15/08/2024 23:21

As long as I can get online stuff delivered. Plenty of things to read, crafts to do, can wfh, potter in garden and binge watch stuff.

Harrumphhhh · 15/08/2024 23:21

I’d love another lock down.

Not mpox. Obviously. That sounds awful.

But another lock down would be lovely. Can we have it in a glorious summer again please? That first one was great.

Sweetteaplease · 15/08/2024 23:21

I wouldn't do it (and I was very supportive and followed the rules). Lost too much of my life in the lockdown, it's important to stay connected to people.

godmum56 · 15/08/2024 23:22

If the risk for me and my loved ones was the same and the bodies were piling up in the UK I'd do it again.

notacooldad · 15/08/2024 23:23

Lockdown changed me in a positive way.
I'm not sure it would be as impactful if it happened again.

Sleepydoor · 15/08/2024 23:24

NorthernGirlie · 15/08/2024 23:01

It won't happen but I'd love it. Ds would too - we remember Covid lockdowns fondly.

Me too!

Lynus · 15/08/2024 23:24

It wouldn’t bother us, we enjoyed the last lockdown.

Livelovebehappy · 15/08/2024 23:25

I complied during covid with the ‘rules’and had vaccinations, and still caught it three times. Still can’t taste or smell four years later. So no, I wouldn’t comply with lockdown again.

otnot · 15/08/2024 23:26

I had a great lockdown, my neighbours and I drank our way through it. The first, summer lockdown at least - the later ones were a bit crap. I don't think most people would go along with it again though, and most of my neighbours have moved now and the new ones aren't so friendly so I'd probably be less keen! Be good to catch up on some reading though... I imagine I'd obey meekly enough, I very much don't want any sort of pox.

musicalfrog · 15/08/2024 23:26

Not a fucking chance they'll make me stay at home again.
