If we suddenly had to go into a 3 month lockdown again, how would you feel?

I think people would definitely comply. If it was Mpox I would want a smallpox vaccine as it's somewhat effective.

M pox has been doing the rounds for ages. I work in an A&E and have seen quite a few cases over the past coulple of years. We won't be locking down

LizzieBennett73 · 15/08/2024 23:01

The only people that would comply with future lockdowns are those with health anxiety.

I certainly wouldn't.

NorthernGirlie · 15/08/2024 23:01

It won't happen but I'd love it. Ds would too - we remember Covid lockdowns fondly.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/08/2024 23:01

I don't think people would comply.

Hiphopopotamonster · 15/08/2024 23:01

I don’t think enough people would comply to make it effective. I certainly wouldn’t stop seeing my family and stop my kids seeing their grandparents etc. Not again. Life is too short.

Viviennemary · 15/08/2024 23:02

Awful. But I don't fancy catching that monkey pox. I don't think I would go out at all.

OptimismvsRealism · 15/08/2024 23:02

Lockdown was mental last time and it would be mental now

We followed the rules last time. My Mum struggled last time not seeing family the way she's used to. I wouldn't dream of putting her through that again especially since she's 4 years older

Id certainly stick to some but not as strictly as last time

Tel12 · 15/08/2024 23:05

No we complied before and a lot of us are still reaping the rewards.

Greytulips · 15/08/2024 23:05

I didn’t mind lock down - lovely hot weather, played with the kids, read books.

But I had a job that could t be down from home, but now have a WFH job so it wouldnt be as much fun.

TokyoSushi · 15/08/2024 23:06

I'd make better use of the time this time around.

I'd certainly be more relaxed about 'the rules' though, I wouldn't be panicking about if I was allowed to go for a walk when I'd already been to Asda, that was nuts!

Babyboomtastic · 15/08/2024 23:07

I'd do it as long as I could do see my parents - they don't go out much and are very very close to my children. One of my children has a health vulnerability so I'd definitely comply. I think we'd manage fine for work, my children really enjoy others company. We'd be fine.

SpiritAdder · 15/08/2024 23:07

Meh, so long as it can be for Dec/Jan/Feb I’d be happy, 😃

helpfulperson · 15/08/2024 23:08

This MPox is a class 1, previous was class 2 (or something like that - definitely different). It's already killed 450 in an area well versed in managing deadly infectious diseases. Hopefully it won't come to it but if we are told to lock down we'd be well advised to heed the advice. Especially as unlike COVID it's not particularly the vulnerable it affects.

shellyleppard · 15/08/2024 23:08

Had this conversation with my 19 year old son this evening. He was worried about the mpox but we both agreed not to participate in a lockdown m not after last time

MonsteraMama · 15/08/2024 23:08

I got furloughed last time and had an absolute jolly of a year doing absolutely fuck all and getting paid for it.

I still wouldn't be doing it again, not a chance.

XenoBitch · 15/08/2024 23:08

No, I would not. The Covid lockdowns cost me my sanity and nearly my life. I will not be doing it again.

EasySkankin · 15/08/2024 23:10

Nope. Wouldn’t do it.

WearsblackLoveschocolateAvoidspeople · 15/08/2024 23:10

I’m under a lot of stress atm because of other people and right now I’d love nothing more than to shut myself away from the world so it would work well for me personally but I know it could never be done again, too many people would protest. against it.

AppleKatie · 15/08/2024 23:10

I think people would comply because the social pressure that made people comply last time would be manufactured again.

i think it would have to be a pretty bloody terrible outbreak of mpox or whatever though and I don’t think we’re near that (at the moment).

I wouldn’t be that bothered on a personal level- have nice house and family and am comfortable enough to wether the storm again.

I would feel bad/guilt/fear for others though, now we know how bad it was for some people last time there is a responsibility to try to avoid.

WickieRoy · 15/08/2024 23:11

Relieved I no longer have a two year old. Grin

Greytulips · 15/08/2024 23:11

If you read the article they want to raise awareness and funding to find a cure or vaccination. That’s not a bad thing.

otravezempezamos · 15/08/2024 23:12

I wouldn’t comply.

I have never tested for covid and never will.

WhiteButtonMoon · 15/08/2024 23:12

This makes me feel so angry.
The government paying people to have a lovely time at home.
I was angry about furlough at the time, and I'm even angrier about it now. As in really, really angry about it.
