What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Elemis cleansing balm. I just love the smell and luxurious feeling of it. It feels like a daily spa treatment and I feel pampered & look forward to cleaning my face every night. Even when I can’t be bothered it puts me in a good mood,

My staple remover at work.

I've been doing a lot of archiving the last few days and scanning everything in, and the staple remover has been an absolute godsend.

@SheUltra a kitchen utensil that cuts onion for me. Onions get me so badly it's ruined cooking for years. Little cold coffee tins in my fridge for the weekend.

By the way @SheUltra what is the original thread about meal planning etc?

I’m your opposite @Inthedarkkkk my super power is that chopping onions doesn’t affect me at all

My Sage Barista Express coffee machine

Nothing beats the daily delight of freshly brewed coffee with silky foamed milk.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 09/08/2024 23:05

Good quality cotton sheets, freshly washed, line dried, getting into that bed fresh from a shower with l'occitane shea and rose shower oil with a book and an ice cold glass of water

Bellie710 · 09/08/2024 23:06

My brabantia bottle opener, best thing ever.

MyCupOfTea32 · 09/08/2024 23:06

Linen bedding. So expensive but sooo good. I love it. Despite being not yet 40 I am menopausal and the night sweats are awful. The linen sheets make them bearable and I sleep so much better. Plus they are beautiful 😍

My kindle. I love reading so it's my happy thing.

was about to say the same! I have two, a paperwhite and a Fire. The Fire is great for art and fashion books plus lounging in bed reading or watching YouTube and my paperwhite is so compact, light and has great battery life. I still buy books but I love my two kindles

I definitely agree with this one! One of the best things I spend money on.

The greengrocer that does our market on Wednesdays also does home delivery on Fridays. I love the whole thing: choosing from a list, planning for the next week, setting the price, coming home at the end of the week to a banana box of everything fresh on the doorstep. It makes me so happy.

shuggles · 09/08/2024 23:09

@DoloresDelEriba My automatic Volvo XC60 SUV. Big,safe, tank. I love it.

Statistically, SUVs are the most dangerous vehicles on the road, and the "safe" feeling of an SUV is a complete illusion.

Repetative · 09/08/2024 23:11

30 minute tan. It seems silly, I can never find the time to fake tan then wash off the next day but somehow, doing it 30 minutes before my shower feels manageable. I just feel more me with a bit of a tan.

Also my garden sofa in my south facing garden. We never spent much on garden furniture before, just a very basic table and chairs. I love my garden so much more now with somewhere comfy to relax. When it is warm I'll be out there from breakfast until bed time where possible.

I had it done at Toni & Guy but I don't know which Keratin system they use, sorry.

I have a Zwitcher Box. It looks like a little wooden bird house and contains a motion sensor. When you walk past it (currently in the downstairs loo), the calming sound of bird song starts before gradually fading. It's very relaxing. 😁

Ohh this sounds lovely… can you tell me where I could get such a thing?

ADHDGURL · 09/08/2024 23:12

My Cat.. absolutely obsessed with his wee quirks and shouty behaviour 😍
Today- my portable air conditioning unit..
In winter my hot water bottle and super cosy bedding
Everyday my kindle and audible app.. can't live without my books
And the TV. Netflix/Prime/Sky/Disney.. on my big comfy sofa. Couldn't imagine life without these. I feel very lucky. Love this thread OP thank you 😊

Noonelikesasloppytrifle · 09/08/2024 23:12

My beautiful, old, deaf and blind cat. He loves me as much as I love him.

My Loaf coffee mugs. They are lovely colours and they make me smile

My Stanley coffee flask. It locks shut so nothing spills when I go out to the car with all my work bags. It keeps drinks hot for ages.

Dry shampoo. Hate washing my hair and this will give me an extra day or two.

masomenos · 09/08/2024 23:13

Actually almost everything in my home is just the way I want it, which is why I find it so difficult staying anywhere outside of my home now 😳. Nowhere else is as nice.

The best bang for my buck, though, is ridiculously expensive and absolutely gorgeous smelling washing up liquid. It makes a horrible task significantly less horrible. I have loads of much more ridiculous and much more pricey things that make life nicer and easier (car, mattress, sheets and towels, artwork, lighting etc), but this for some reason feels like the greatest indulgence and has a disproportionate impact.

Our Sage coffee machine.

Freshly ground coffee which then makes the perfect creamy flat white. Genuinely nicer than any flat white I’ve had from a coffee shop.

It’s my morning ritual.

🥰Same! It’s the best.. I can’t even face Starbucks anymore as my sage makes it exactly how I want

MermaidMummy06 · 09/08/2024 23:13

My passport. Which has been sadly gathering dust for too long.

Just booked an o/s trip and I remember how planning & looking forward to a trip adds a splash of colour to the beige canvas that is my daily life. It honestly makes my life happier & easier to deal with the relentless, crappy bits.

And my coffee machine. Decent coffee & no lining up at the drive thru coffee for 20 minutes every morning.

A good quality mattress and sheets
A favorite mug
Beautiful journals with thick creamy paper and a good pen

I broke my favourite mug a couple of weeks ago, it really upset me. I very rarely break things. It was a lovely mug, big and decorated with pictures of jungle animals and kept my tea nice and warm . I have others that hold as much tea but there was something special about this mug and I am in mourning for it!

ODFOx · 09/08/2024 23:14

I second and third the boiling water tap. Ours is a Qettle not a quooker but I don't think we'll ever go back to a kettle.

My car

It's not posh or expensive, but I only passed my driving test four years ago when I was 50. Up until then I used public transport to get to and from work.

The luxury of owning a car has made my life so much easier. No more standing at bus stops in the freezing cold, no more space invasion from strangers, no more paying for taxis when said public transport fails to turn up!

I love my little car. Air conditioning so I'm cool when it's too hot, warm when it's freezing outside. I'm dry when it's raining. No more carrying arm fulls of heavy shopping bags from the bus stop, now they all go in the boot.

I positively relish my drive to and from work, I see it as me time. I either catch up on phone calls to family or listen to an audio book. I have sweeties and nice air fresheners.

My little car is my most appreciated belonging ❤️

Edited

This has made me feel so warm. I love that appreciate driving your car so much. It's a reminder to us all to have gratitude for the every day things that we can all take for granted,

Bless you, in your little car. I wish you many years of safe, happy driving ❤️
