What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

@SheUltra a kitchen utensil that cuts onion for me. Onions get me so badly it's ruined cooking for years. Little cold coffee tins in my fridge for the weekend.

By the way @SheUltra what is the original thread about meal planning etc?

Handheld clothes steamer - bought it for DD for uni but she left it home and I love it - can also use when I'm already wearing the dress but need a bit of a sort out .
Love this thread
Any recommendations for a flask that will deliver hot coffee in the morning gratefully received x

I'm after a good steamer that actually works (even on linen). Can I ask which one you have?

Have thought of several more.

Temple Spa Quietude Pillow Spray is so relaxing and soothing at bedtime.

Keratin hair treatment has turned my hair from being fluffy to sleek, and halved my blow-drying time.

UK Lash really, really works and lasts ages. I've never had such long, thick lashes.

Gorgeous cross stitch kits from Etsy, these are my current favourite addiction hobby.

I think for me it would be our Volvo XC60 - my h didn't pass his test till 50 and we are now early 60s and on our 3rd Volvo - all those years walking and cabs. ( I still don't drive) it has made life more varied.if I'm honest

Close behind would be the Bosch washer and dryer , and the ability to afford to shop in M&S and Waitrose as I like cooking but also like good quality easy options.

We love our Volvo too! Safe, indestructible tank.

My headband earphones. Joy every night listening to audio books.

Oh yes. I love mine too. But I keep falling asleep and waking up with it soaking wet due to menopausal night sweats. I dare not wash it in case I ruin it. Sad

My dab radio alarm clock. My anxiety levels have gone down so much now I'm not jolted awake by a siren. It has a setting that makes it get slowly louder over a couple of minutes. Much gentler. Added bonus, was only £10 in the charity shop.

PurpleFlower1983 · 09/08/2024 22:36

Our top end White Company bedding, it cost a small fortune but it was worth every penny.

Very simple but just escaping my chaotic mum of young kids life and lying in the bath scrolling on my phone like I am right now 😂 My one chunk of the day where I’m not stressed or rushing somewhere!

The view out of my window. I look onto hills I watch the seasons change, and the weather changing, I see migratory geese in the winter swallows and swifts in the summer, bats at night, the sun sets over the hills, I see kites flying, and my neighbours and I think occasionally a golden eagle. I watch the cows on the dairy farm, I know when they are turned out in spring that winter is finally over, I see young lambs skipping in the spring and they make me smile, in the winter the hills turn dark the granite outcrops turn black, in the spring they are covered in bright yellow gorse now heather is coming through soon the trees will change colour for autumn.
i used to dream of owning a house with a view and now I’ve got one it just makes me happy.

This is just beautiful.

I couldn't afford a memory foam mattress but I got a big piece of memory foam from Amazon and it works really well

MotherOfVizslas · 09/08/2024 22:44

My heat pad. I've got back and neck problems, and it's just so lovely and soothing having it on while watching a bit of telly.

AngryBird6122 · 09/08/2024 22:45

This week it has been a mobility scooter. Rented while on holiday. Took quite a lot emotionally to admit I might need something but it's been a game changer, able to be out all day with the family and keep up.

Yes I get this. I've bought one now after renting one on holiday and realising I didn't actually care what anyone thought and that NOT using one wasn't going to cure me it just meant I was missing out

PollyPicksMe · 09/08/2024 22:50

I will also add my knock off Stanley cup! It’s saved me a lot of money buying drinks out constantly in my car

My puppy girl…

Tryonemoretime · 09/08/2024 22:53

My Hundred Stars dressing gown. Makes me feel like an extra from an Agatha Christie film. And my really old thick winter dressing gown. Feels like a warm hug on cold evenings.

We always had a decent memory foam topper (about 4 inches) decided to get a MF mattress and regretted it. Good MF toppers are great x

LowlandLassie · 09/08/2024 22:58

My rattan sun lounger. On a nice sunny day (not been quite so many this year!), you’ll find me out there with my kindle, AirPods and iglu insulated water bottle. Bliss

ParrotPirouette · 09/08/2024 22:58

My ice maker. I like lots and lots of ice in my drinks. It makes me very happy 🧊🧊🧊🧊

My headband earphones. Joy every night listening to audio books.

What make have you got? Can you go to sleep in it?
(Asking for a friend!)

ThatPeachSnake · 09/08/2024 22:58

I suffer with headaches and migraines so a lot of mine are in relation to that:

-acupressure mat
-a cold neck press that I keep in the freezer. Whenever I’m feeling headachey or unwell for any reason I put it on and it’s so nice.
-cold eye mask
-lots of herbal teas. I like to try new ones and read about the health benefits of each. I drink so much of it.
-glass water bottle, I don’t worry about microplastics from my water!

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/08/2024 22:58

My monthly Audible subscription. Dont watch TV and hate noise, listening to books is lovely because I can do my favourite thing ("reading") whilst also doing other things. I work PT as I am my parents carer aswell and also have kids still at home. So finding time to just sit and read is virtually impossible. Makes me happy to get that notification every month that I have a new credit to use!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/08/2024 23:00

My old, rusty garden bench. I love to sit there with a cup of tea in the morning, watching the birds on the bird feeder and all my lovely flowers starting to open, with the smell of grass around me. I have a tiny, long thin garden but it's crammed with plants, and being able to sit and look at it makes me feel amazing. Also - the bird feeder, because I fill that up every morning and then I can sit on my bench or at the kitchen table and watch everything from blue tits to woodpeckers swinging around out there.
