What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Yes. Hotel Chocolat. Seems I was lucky? I can tolerate quite hot drinks too but it’s seriously far too hot to drink. I love it in the cooler weather. I don’t buy expensive hot chocolate just supermarket stuff but it’s so creamy and well mixed.

Yes you were lucky, or HC has become very risk adverse ...

Baital · 11/08/2024 06:09

The dog. Just ridiculously happy to go for a walk, to be fed, to welcome me back even if I have only been out for 5 minutes, to wriggle around on her back.on the floor....

My Miele vacuum cleaner, which effortlessly picks up dog hair!

OhshutupNancy · 11/08/2024 06:41

My heated throw. As somebody who feels the cold all winter and finds it really uncomfortable this changed my life last winter. Also heated bed blanket - I like to warm!

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 11/08/2024 06:47

My soup maker.

I pooh-poohed the idea for years. But being able to chuck the veg in and off it goes while I'm working and then it keeps it warm, so lunch is just fresh and healthy and tasty when I'm ready is amazing.

I bought a basic pair of wireless ear buds and I go through so many audio books while the baby is sleeping or I’m doing housework it keeps me entertained and also feel like I’ve achieved something! Got so much use out of them and I think they only cost about 25 pounds.

Mine HC, had it a couple of years now, really does heat the milk well.

I also use it to make Chai tea with the Whittards powder. Beautiful.

Dishwasher....it's quite a big thing in regards to cost to buy and space, not everyone can fit one in but it's so worth it

Ebay or marketplace for £15 is mine people want rid when refit their kitchen. But yeah never had when growing up wouldn't not have now

LizTruss · 11/08/2024 07:02

A salad spinner. Makes me giddy but I love it.

EasilyDisturbed · 11/08/2024 07:15

Our velvetiser makes properly hot chocolate too, I do warm the mugs but I also do for tea and coffee in winter (we have a boiling water tap). Maybe we were lucky with it.

I'm off to look up the kindle clicker, the main reason I never use my paperwhite is that I find the touching and tapping too distracting (it's hard to explain, but I much preferred the click buttons on my old original kindle).

Just one observation about the sleep ear headbands, they're no good if you share a bed, DH has one and it leaks music and annoys me.

JamMonster · 11/08/2024 07:15

@crockofshite Have you tried just running the velvetiser twice? I don’t mind it being cooler but I’ve heard others with the same issue say it helps!

I literally cut out an inbuilt freezer to accommodate mine 😆 we make do with a tiny freezer but totally worth it.

Going off piste here, but I have one of those acupressure (spiky) mats. I have always been prone to a really tight back, but 20 mins on this daily sorts it out and helps me sleep

@SideProfile Could you recommend a mat please? I have a terrible back, I'll try anything.

I'm so disappointed with Hotel Chocolat. My hot chocolate is cold before I finish it.

Real shame as - apart from the temperature - the quality of the drink is perfect and the velvetiser is lovely, easy to use and compact.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 11/08/2024 07:18

Elemis shower cream - just bought a few bottles when Amazon had an offer on. I look forward to using it every day.
My little dressing room - turned my little gloom room into an organised paradise. My bedroom was full of stuff that was falling to bits as a kid and it’s a dream.
A really lovely garden lounger - again grew up with those folding chairs that used to fall to bits.
A decent pair of speakers. When everyone is out I blast my music out and I go for really naff stuff as well. Nice bit of Five Star and I do the routines!
A bath sheet from the White Company. Yep, again grew up with small bath towels like sandpaper. DP doesn’t know his are from George at Asda 😂

SmokeyToo · 11/08/2024 07:19

The men in my life, aka my three (male) cats. They make my life worth living and bring me so much love and laughter. I'd hate to be without my lads!

My MIL bought me mine (rare, excellent choice from her) and said sometimes she does hers twice to make it extra hot as she likes a long leisurely drink. Might be worth a go?

Love these threads.

Me too only wish I time to read the whole thread

Nice washing up gloves. I have larger than average hands and those tight ones and flock lined ones do my head in.
The best I've found are a supermarket own brand starts with A. Size L for me.

We don't have masses of spare cash right now but I'd give up chocolate for a week to be able to get these.

JamMonster · 11/08/2024 07:37

A podcast called ‘The ins and outs’ - an interior designer and garden designer chatting and giving tips - humorous and approachable for beginners

Rohan waterproof hiking trousers - like normal hiking trousers but warm and waterproof - they make me less of a wimp about going outside in the winter

Green and Blacks 70% chocolate - no UPF and delicious, the craving is satisfied with fewer squares!

A Eucalyptus tree (£15) - I can cut my own stems rather than spending £8 per bunch. They can get massive though, I’m told if I prune it to almost the ground each year it’ll be more of a bush than a tree 🤞!

I really love my 1000 thread Egyptian cotton fitted sheet.

I have some cedar scented vegetable soap . Bought first one from Tk maxx and now scour the internet to stock up. So creamy and smells lovely

I have a teeny tiny flask to keep my milk cold on days in the office so I don't need to drink UHT milk

I love pens. Current favourite is a wooden one I bought on a weekend away with friends. Writes beautifully

ThePoshUns · 11/08/2024 08:33

Ooh can you link to tiny milk flask please? What a great idea

Most plants kept in a pot tend to stay smaller due to the roots being restricted. We had one in a large pot and it stayed tree like and didn't get too big.
