What one item makes your life a bit nicer?

I have just read a thread about making life easier. It's always meal planning and household appliances.

Anyway it got me thinking whilst having a shower... I love my Bluetooth shower speaker. Being able to listen to my own music in the shower is great.

I don't need it. I can obviously live without it but I really love that little thing!

I also have dogs. I think it's a given that animals and children bring joy.

You have to recommend something to make life nicer.

What are you choosing? Smile

Also my DH. He's just makes every day happier and I wouldn't want to live in a world that didn't have him in it.

Ohh whcih one do you have?

It's a VW Tiguan.

Honestly it's such a pleasure to drive. 😊

Shakti mat - after a slog in the allotment I lie on my mat post shower. Bliss.
Clip on reading light.
Air fryer. Tragic but so useful. Much more than I thought it’d be.
Greek mountain tea. I love it. And that brings me to a strainer that sits on top of my favourite big mug.

But hands down the winner is monthly head and shoulder massage. Every few months I have full massage. All of it is heaven.

My Conservatory. It’s so relaxing to sit in. I close it off to the rest of the house and just sit and watch the birds in the garden or read or close my eyes and listen to some soothing music. Our old one was replaced last year and the new one is 100% better. Because of the improvements in glass insulation and a better ventilation system, it can be used all year round. I love it!

2nd to that, my log burner……( how to make yourself unpopular on Mumsnet)

Try OceanBottle flask - keeps hot drinks hot better than any I've tried - they are brilliant

An air fryer and set of professional chefs knives.

Misread that as 'a set of professional chefs'

Now that would make life just marvellous.

Chefs! Whip me up a delicious breakfast...

I would say my Velvetiser but I am not meant to have hot chocolate right now.
So I'll go for my teabag tongs which are simple but fantastic.

Omg never heard of these tongs, just been and ordered two off Amazon

thank youuuuu 🤗

Believe it or not, it’s my sellotape dispenser. I work for myself selling online and it shaves about a third off packaging time. It’s also brilliant when Christmas present wrapping time comes round. I’d be lost without it.

My other things would be the Shark vacuum cleaner and heated throw, as others have said, but my daily little luxury is L’Occitane shower gel. You only need three pumps on a shower puff for a full shower so it lasts ages, the packaging is nice enough to not annoy me if it’s left out and the smell is divine.

I’ve just asked DH what his item is and it’s those large synthetic chamois leathers. They are the best thing in the world for cleaning granite worktops without leaving streaks. In fact, he’s using it now!

  • My sodastream, I love sparkling water and find I drink so much more now.
  • My headphones, I find singing my heart out always puts a smile on my face.
  • The secret cadburys brunch bar I hide in my underwear draw to scoff without sharing on the very rare time I get a lie in.
  • My extra firm memory phone pillows, there so hard I could probably beat you with them, but I find them so cool and comfortable. I hate big fluffy hot hotel bedding and these pillows always make me happy I'm home.
  • A fireside woodwick candle. I'm not actually a big candle person, but the sound of that candle loadly crackling away and smelling genuinely beautiful is so relaxing.

Are they good then? Been looking at them lately as ear buds at night are very irritating.

Absolutely, I love mine . I don't like earbuds at all but mine is comfy all night long. It's also handy when I am doing DIY or other stuff that means I am looking down a lot or working in confined spaces and need a hard hat ( niche i know ) or under cars ,

My Ukraine mug. Just two bold colours of the Ukraine flag. Made many an appearance on work teams calls.

I didn't know such a thing of beauty existed 😲

I feel relaxed and happy just reading these 🙂

Love the sound of the velvetiser. Always been slightly too expensive to justify here though 😞

I'm a bit disappointed with mine as the drink is always just too tepid. Advice is to boil the kettle and warm the cup before pouring in the chocolate.... I've gone back to heating my chocolate drink in a saucepan on the stove.

If it was a couple of degrees hotter out of the velvetiser it would be perfect, you can always leave it a minute to cool down but when it starts off tepid ....

Thank you and to everyone who commented on what I wrote. I had a really shit year last year but the wonderful view from my house and the stunning countryside I live in brings me so much peace and tranquility. The joy of living rurally is that you watch the season change you realise that nothing last forever that the dark winter days that so many of us hate are not here for ever around Xmas when. it’s the darkest time of year the snow drops start poking through for me the beginning of the end of the winter.
In a few weeks the swallows will be gathering on the phone wires getting ready to fly back to Africa and I feel so sad to see them go it signifies the end of summer and its such fun seeing them go flying around my house but then the geese arrive and the curlews have already come back to our beaches with their haunting call so even in the dark days of winter I find happiness in the things around me. I’ve learnt that it’s in the simple things in life that we can find peace and happiness.
It’s so therapeutic and adds rhythm and routine to my busy life.

Not the point if the thread at all but you have a beautiful way of writing and describing your surroundings.
It is very obvious that you really love the area that you live .

I think you should write down your views and thoughts/ feelings at each change of the seasons .
And post it on mn

My programmable coffee filter machine. Best £70 I ever spent set the timer each evening wake up to fresh coffee.

MerelyPlaying · 10/08/2024 21:44

Interesting how many of these are about simple physical pleasures - a good mattress, nice bedding, body lotion, good coffee etc.

Definitely putting linen sheets on the list.
