No!

54 and I can get my fingertips to the floor and go back up without being dizzy.

67 and yes, can also do reverse prayer.
I have a ridiculous wingspan.

Bloody hell, I had to check that this means what I thought! No way I could ever have done that, even in my super fit & flexible phases. Too much rib cage between the shoulders. Or not enough arm, or something 😳

33 and no. I've gotten closer since doing pilates but wouldn't say that I could. I've always had very tight hamstrings, even as a teenager.

Okaygoahead · 09/08/2024 05:59

58, overweight. I can easily touch the floor at the beginning of my daily stretching session and have hands flat on the floor at the end of it.

ForGreyKoala · 09/08/2024 06:04

I'm 65 and I could never touch my toes! I've got a short body and quite long legs in comparison. My DM could still do it in her late 70s.

AuntieMarys · 09/08/2024 06:12

65 and yes I can

Projectme · 09/08/2024 06:12
  1. Tips of fingers/bent knuckles no problem and by the time I've finished stretching out, flat palms. I can also do the reverse prayer thingie.
bigTillyMint · 09/08/2024 06:14

Almost 60 and can do easily, can put hands flat on the floor. But so what?!

aladderformoths · 09/08/2024 06:37

51 and yes. Different people have different levels of flexibility though and are flexible in different areas of their body.

Dingdongdownunder · 09/08/2024 06:38

36 and yes, but with a slight bend in the knee as I've always had tight hamstrings for some reason.

For context I go to the gym 5x per week, plus I do pilates and lots of stretching. I couldn't do it before I started working out like this, even as a child!

49, yes - I recommend a bit of easy yoga, only needs 10 minutes morning and evening.

Edited

I’d agree with this. I can’t be bothered with a mat but I do a standing yoga video most mornings for ten minutes. Makes me feel really limber.

It's impressive isn't it? Well done to be able to hold that at 67 @gardenmusic

I tried just now and just managed to do it for a split second, hurt like hell. Weirdly, my outer fingers were the pain point. I'll add it to the daily routine (52, can touch toes).

JoJothegerbil · 09/08/2024 07:20

52 and yes. I'm not fit, but do have short legs.

Pillowfights · 09/08/2024 07:56

57 and yes-but not when I've just got out of bed!

I do yoga and have short legs so that helps. Could also do reverse prayer until last year when I got a frozen shoulder

LunaNorth · 09/08/2024 07:58

50 - yes.

I strongly recommend yoga 😀

Maddy70 · 09/08/2024 08:00

56 yes. Flat. But. Completely unfit

SallyWD · 09/08/2024 08:13

49, I could never touch my toes even as a child. I think it's a physical thing. My daughter can't either. She's 13 and very sporty and athletic.

Thank you - I don't think I can claim much credit, though, I have arms like Twizzle - for those of you who remember! Still have flappy bingo wings, though!

Toomuchgoingon79 · 09/08/2024 08:15

43 and just about. Was able to put my hands flat on the floor until a car accident left me with a back injury. Hypermobility helps I think!

gardenmusic · 09/08/2024 08:22

Have you seen Felicity Kendall lean back? She can practically sweep the floor with her head! I have nothing much in that direction.

hazelnutlatte · 09/08/2024 08:32

I've always had inflexible hamstrings so could never touch my toes as a child. At 43 I can! (due to years of regular yoga practice). It also took me years of practice before I was able to sit in a deep squat with heels to the ground.
On the other hand I can put my hands in reverse prayer and sit in lotus position easily as long as I'm warmed up, this is more to do with natural flexibility than yoga.
My husband is the opposite - he can barely sit cross legged but can touch his toes.

MrsGusset · 09/08/2024 08:53

76 last week & yes I can.

Years of Pilates & arms like an orangutan.

BigDahliaFan · 09/08/2024 09:52

Can't touch my toes (never could) and can't sit cross legged anymore.

But I'm reasonably fit. And can plank etc.

I'm trying to keep what little flexibility I have!

Deathraystare · 09/08/2024 12:53

Without keeling over or getting dizzy? Nope!
