Lost items you still think about

Mine's a beautiful Oliver Bonas necklace I bought myself with some birthday money.

I never normally spend so much on jewellery, but decided I wanted something that felt a bit more special. Then I lost it. No idea if I lost it at home or out and about but I tore our house apart looking for it with no luck. It's still not turned up over a year later 😞

I keep checking Vinted and eBay in the vain hope someone might be selling one but no luck so far. Maybe one day I'll find it down the back of the sofa (despite having looked there on many occasions for many lost items)

Has anyone else lost something that they still think about? And has anyone ever found something in the most random place years later? Give me hope please 😁

A Pandora ring. Assumed ds gave it to the bloody awful gf he had at the time. She was an absolute nightmare teenager....

lastminpanic23 · 07/08/2024 22:13

A top I got from H&M when I was about 16. The prettiest little blouse with a lovely floral print, it looked lovely with everything and never needed ironing. I wish I knew what happened to it as I'd still wear it today if I could fit in it.

invisiblecat · 07/08/2024 22:15

A Playmobil figure. DD played with it all the time. It used to play the roles of Christopher Robin, Mowgli, and whoever else she needed in her little games with her other toys. One day it disappeared into thin air, never to be seen again.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 07/08/2024 22:16

I had a sylvanian baby Bunny when I was 4. We moved house and it got lost. It randomly came to me today as I wondered what my DD(2) will remember when she's older!

TheGoddessMinerva · 07/08/2024 22:19

A tapestry I did of Asterix the Gaul. I made it when I was a teenager, to my own design.

I lost it when I split up with an ex partner.

Liv999 · 07/08/2024 22:20

My engagement ring, also some professional photos I got done of my eldest dd when she was a baby

junebirthdaygirl · 07/08/2024 22:22

I am in my 60s. In school l knitted a baby blanket as my mom was expecting a baby. I was so excited. I left in on the school bus the day l got to bring it home and we never got it. I still think about it as l was so proud. I would have loved my own dc to use it.
Also my friend found her engagement ring months later in the garden under her upstairs bedroom window..looks like her toddler threw it out the window and she had gone crazy searching for it.

A beautiful baby blue Kenneth Cole wallet that I bought on holiday in New York as a teen. It was real leather and my pride and joy. I somehow left it behind in a cafe on a shopping trip when I got back home. It also had £30 and lots of photos of me and my pals in it 😔

Kokomjolk · 07/08/2024 22:24

My Garmin Edge. Not because I was particularly devastated to lose it, though I was annoyed, but because I am 100% sure it was in our flat. We have since moved, so packed everything in the flat, reviewed every single item in every drawer, moved all the furniture obviously. And I didn't find it. Wheeeerrrre can it possibly have gone?

Likewise all the missing socks over the years. They seem to evaporate, or maybe there is a sock fairy in every house.

SaintHonoria · 07/08/2024 22:25

Op if you know anyone in the USA that necklace is still for sale on the American website and in their sale for only $56.

NoraLuka · 07/08/2024 22:27

I had a lamb soft toy as a child, he was called Sheepie (original!) and one day I was playing with him in my grandma’s garden. Went in for a bit and when I came back out, he had dissappeared, never to be seen again. This was in about 1987 but if I ever see a similar teddy I still wonder where Sheepie got to!

Waferbiscuit · 07/08/2024 22:27

A striped Paul smith scarf lost in Islington Green about 29 years ago. It was a very iconic style and I've seen it on many other people - I always wonder 'is that my scarf?'

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 07/08/2024 22:29

A tin of stickers at primary school in the 1980s, a gold ring from past times given to me by my mum when I was 18 list at Exmouth beach and a blue and white crocheted blanket knitted for my first born and lost from his pram, also at Exmouth. Sigh.

Alizzle · 07/08/2024 22:32

A fossil bracelet after a robbery at our first flat(never going for a ground floor again) but all the other jewellery wasn't taken.
Lost my engagement ring at work, knew what room it was (it was a bt exchange frame room) but after hours searching, wasn't to be found. Wasn't expensive at all, just sentimental (slightly too big, stupidly wore it over my wedding ring not under).
I did get sent a purse I lost at a pub 3 years before, all cards etc still in there. They'd changed the fitted benches and sent it on to the address on my driving licence. That one was a shock when it arrived!

Moonflower12 · 07/08/2024 22:33

A sapphire and diamond eternity ring that my late ex-mil gave me a week or so before she died.
I took it off in my in-laws house to wash my hands just before the funeral. When I came back it had gone. That was 35 years ago.

MrsMonzo · 07/08/2024 22:39

@junebirthdaygirl aww that is gutting, I bet your mum would have loved that blanket as well 😞

@SaintHonoria I wish I did, I'd love to get it again. I remember seeing it on the website when it went in the sale but I didn't buy it as money was tight and I was afraid I'd just lose it again. Wish I'd just bought it now!

There's a book by Cecelia Ahern called A Place Called Here, where all the lost things go. That's where the jewellery, stickers, blankets, clothes and millions of odd socks are living!

A silver diamond ring, it was my Great-Aunt's. She gave it to me before she died.

Was living in shared house. Left it on a shelf I the bathroom, when I went to fetch it, it was gone.

This was 28yrs ago....
I feel.huge guilt for leaving it accessible to someone (housemate) to take.

Lincoln24 · 07/08/2024 22:42

Not lost exactly but I smashed to smithereens a beautiful dish that a friend (amateur potter) made on the birth of our first baby with all our initials printed in. It was my favourite keepsake of that time. Still gutted.

useitorlose · 07/08/2024 22:44

My toy bunny I left in a hotel bed when I was 12. It was my favourite soft toy and even at 12 I still took it away from home. My dad rang the hotel but they said they didn't find it. I'm 56 and I still want him back!

Whathappensnow11 · 07/08/2024 22:45

My husbands wedding band, which he lost out at sea in Bora Bora over 10 years ago.... on our honeymoon!

stonebrambleboy · 07/08/2024 22:47

A gold signet ring my boyfriend bought me for my 17th birthday, a silver bracelet my sister bought me for my 21st. And rosary beads my auntie gave me when I was confirmed. All in a little box that was nicked during our move from England to Australia.

thomasinacat · 07/08/2024 22:51

A romantic note written on a business card by a stranger on a train, many years ago.

Octavon · 07/08/2024 22:55

I had a beloved gold ring when I was in my teens. One day I went to the loo and put it on the window ledge while I washed my hands, then went downstairs. I got to the bottom of the stairs and remembered I hadn’t put my ring back on - went back upstairs to grab it but it was gone.

That was 25 years ago and it’s never turned up. Since then the bathroom has been gutted and fully refurbished and the floor lifted but the ring still hasn’t been found. Where did it go?

EveryOtherNameTaken · 07/08/2024 22:59

A blue sweatshirt I took off and threw on the floor because I was hot before a nap one afternoon. Never found it - I lived in one room at the time so not like it was anywhere else.

Only thought about it again yesterday and it happened 30 years ago!

KnittingKnewbie · 07/08/2024 23:04

A book I was reading as a child in my Granny's house. I had bought it at the school book fair. I was reading it, put it down for dinner or something and it was gone.
I think one of my cousins hid it on me because I was a bookworm and they thought I was boring.
