He gets around £98,000 a month for presenting GB News, for a reported 32 hours a week Shock

Weird deletion Pandora, guess MN doesn't like it when you test them

Sorry MNHQ, was curious!

"Man of the people"

Nigel Farage's outside interests, as well as earning him nearly £120,000 a month - yes, a month - occupy a stated 128 hours a month.

When will he find time to work as a MP?

He visited his mate with the sore ear but the people in Jaywick affected by the fire will have to wait a bit longer, cameos to film.

With an income of 1.4million a year he should open an account with Coutts.

I don't know if it has been sorted but it used to be that if you talked about stiggering about something - swap the t for an n Wink - it would get hidden Shock

The MN filter was picking up the racist word for a black person within that innocuous word Confused

And don't forget how upset 30-pfennig Lee got when other MPs, er, "stiggered" at him when he voted the opposite way to what he said he was going to...

prettybird · 17/08/2024 11:50

I think we now have a new word to use on these threads! Wink

Could also be used in the Trump threads, where it's difficult not to stigger at some of the outrageous things he says Grin

prettybird · 17/08/2024 11:54

Dh always gets annoyed that the name of Guy Gibson's dog is dubbed over as Tigger in The Dambusters film. It's a matter of historical fact what he was named Confused

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2024 12:18

I just read Fake Heroes. Illuminating on the fact that Dambusters was actually a failure.

I'm OK with the dog change name myself.

Goodness no wonder he hasn't been doing his surgeries in Clacton. When does he sleep, poor man? 😆

itsgettingweird · 17/08/2024 12:35

Can we "stigger" at the salad one too?!

That’s just under 30 hours a week if he takes no holidays…
Surely that’s not allowed?

It's actually really immoral. I hope Labour rush through this idea of clamping down on second jobs.

BIossomtoes · 17/08/2024 13:02

I wonder how long it will be before there’s a by election in Clacton once second jobs are illegal?

HannibalHeyes · 17/08/2024 13:05

So he "earns" more than 1.3 million a year, and the average wage in Clacton is £28k.

Man of the paypal...

I'm not. Once you rewrite history - no matter how well meaning - you've accepted the principle that it isn't history. It's todays re-imagining of what history should have been like. And there are far too many people who would really really really like that to be the norm. And history is already shot through with propaganda as it is (see the recent "discoveries" around British history). We really don't need any more. And the use of the word was a key element of Operation Chastise. Bowdlerising it removes some context.

As a rule I don't like censorship. I have no problem with classification. But otherwise Quis ipsos custodes custodiet ? and all that

I would have less of a problem had they made 2 versions of the film at the time. But the fact they didn't is in and of itself a historical fact.

I noted that one of the delightful contributers was on the recent benefit bashing thread as well.

You were hilariously brilliant though!

Thank you! (Despite being advised to hold my tongue) 😂

But the film is history rewritten anyway! It's not accurate, so who cares about the detail of a dog's name?

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2024 14:09

I don't get what he deleted word is ! Don't tell me, I'll never see it in time!

Ultimately all stories are stories, I know.

We had this recently - be careful what weapons you make as your enemies will find a way to use them against you.

Here's a compromise: if the name is unaltered in written accounts and modern history books, then it's really just a nipples on network TV issue. But if even historians are quietly "reimagining" the name - possibly to avoid their woke students having a coronary - that is wrong.

Today it's a dogs name, tomorrow it's chromosomal sex determination.

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2024 14:23

We might have to agree to disagree.

Maybe the history books should say ....'so and so called his dog a very racist name because he was a nasty racist aresehole, like most of our alleged heroes.'

But then it isn't history is it ? It's what todays commentators think of it. That is: not history.

Keep doing that and eventually you will have people who won't find what Boris Johnson said offensive. And we don't want that do we ?

Bearing in mind I've seen Reg Hunter a couple of times in a full length show and was bitterly disappointed not to come out offended. I should have asked for a refund.
