Thanks!!

Removal woman is now in prison on remand

There was quite a calm and reasoned commentary that noted people clearly have forgotten what happened to the 2011 rioters who ended up with prison sentences and being arrested months (if not years) later.

That's probably what the blubbing boys are crying at. A lengthy prison spell which probably means they lose their house and family and for what ? A "jolly jape" ?

I can't see many employers keeping jobs open if someone is being held on remand and may not see trial for a few months.

And cameras are much much more prevalent (and better) than 2011. Not that you need much subterfuge. Most of these geniuses are posting from their own accounts.

Cat tax - just making sure I’m safe from any wild animals outside my office!

thanks for the new thread.

@PickAChew did I see you’re in Durham? I’m not too far away and am almost glad at the lack of shops now as I went to Arnison rather than town for school shoes. Hope it comes to very little.

Looks like mostly junior rabble rousing, tonight but the police have been warning businesses here and in small towns like Spennymoor and Newton Aycliffe, based on what they've seen in social media. Not heard more sirens than usual, so far.

There's supposed to be a proper march organised for tomorrow evening.

ilovesooty · 06/08/2024 18:02

Thanks for the new thread. Little Tennyson was cross last night as I'd been in London having lunch and there was no human dinner to which he might have been partial.

It’s disconcerting @PickAChew isn’t it. I’ll just stay down the sale until it blows over. Can see mass riots in Stanhope and Wolsingham (and fingers crossed I’m right about that!!)

PickAChew · 06/08/2024 18:11

I was hoping to get out on the bus into the less glamorous bits of Northumberland with DS1 for a pokemon go event @DrRiverSong but my appetite for the likes of Ashington and Blyth on a Friday afternoon has waned, no matter how many unspun pokestops they have.

LlynTegid · 06/08/2024 18:13

Paying my overdue cat tax.

It’s a shame but I understand that!

Thanks @DuncinToffee Tax below

Seems an inquisitive dog to me. Or expecting treats, as dogs seemed to think I could provide when I began daily walks in 2020.

does anyone else just find MN so draining? i am so bored of the same discussions and the same responses

Saucery · 06/08/2024 18:23

Evening. I have had a relaxing day listening to Sinead O’Connor, The Pogues, The Unthanks, The Chieftains and doing a craft quite badly but with determined enthusiasm Grin

Out there <hand wave> is still grimly racist and batshit, I see…..

Cheguevarahamster · 06/08/2024 18:25

Evening all. Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee. I do hope things calm down. Here's a very sleepy cat who's decided that he now likes sleeping in my office. It's nice to have the company when WFH. (as my teenager ignores me all day and the other one is at camp!)

Long overdue tax after lurking for a very long time. Very important, sane, intelligent, friendly thread. Thank you all. My cat showing how I feel right now...

My tax for the thread. I know this is from a few years back, but it's a great photo.

Yes. I’m very choosy about what threads I engage on now. It’s good to challenge, but we have to think of our own mental health first.

Welcome @takingcareofme2023

No animals today, the threads have moved too fast. Have a sunset instead for my tax.

If Tennyson looked at me like that I'd probably give in and cook him a top notch dinner.

He's an absolute beaut 😊

takingcareofme2023 · 06/08/2024 18:43

Thank you for the welcome @Apolloneuro . Made brief appearances before but mostly lurk. Definitely my go to thread on Mumsnet. Has a virus, so feeling a bit post viral flat but recent events make me want to weep and weep...

midgetastic · 06/08/2024 18:43

Oh hello - is this the calming thread ?
Pleased to meet you

I don't have a cat

Yep.

So today I've out in my headphones and listened to Olympics of R4 and walked to a friends.

Then went into town and met my dad and nephew for coffee.

Then walked down the road to get some Pepsi and milk from the shop.

Just cooked spaghetti Bol! (Although I had jacket spud Bol!)

Now I'm back depressing myself on MN - and I'm not sure why 🤷‍♀️

Spandauer · 06/08/2024 18:46

Fromage has been on LBC today. Said he was misled by Andrew Tate re the identity of the attacker in Southport.

(yeah, and I'm the feckin Queen of the fairies)

Did he follow this up by explaining that's why you shouldn't believe everything you are told.

He's literally just admitted he doesn't process critical thinking

HannibalHeyes · 06/08/2024 18:50

Just seen that Fartage interview. Watch him squirm! Admitting he amplified Andrew Tate and a dodgy Russian site.

Here's my cat tax for this thread.
