Can you get a tent with 3 bedrooms ?

If so can anyone link some decent ones ?
We've got 4 kids now and finding going abroad so much more money so I was thinking maybe we could get a good tent and try camping. All the tents I'm seeing though only have two bedrooms, there is a big age gap between the older kids and the little ones so ideally we'd need 3 bedrooms

we have this and it’s great. It’s an air tent so very easy to put up.

Look in to camping bunk beds, they are amazing and tardis like. Fold down to the size of a large camping chair. I bought mattress toppers for them, super cosy x

@GravitasShortfall Yeah we went every year when I was a kid so there won't be any shocks in store. I'm just trying to think of a cheaper way to holiday. I know I'll be expensive getting all the stuff at first though but once we've got it we haven't got to get it again

Well the shock might be that what you enjoyed as a kid you don’t as an adult.

I loved camping as a child - now - forget it.

Maltybiscuit · 06/08/2024 21:21

Id go for a Berghaus Air Beam , probably the Freedom or the Keplar , wouldn't bother with air beds I use a SIM (self inflating mattress) on an air base I use a decathlon Quecha , camping is an absolute outlay for good long lasting equipment, you could hire a tent to check you like the experience first ??

Is it a tent?

It was last time I used it!

Waffle78 · 06/08/2024 21:26

I wouldn't want to take a load of camping paraphernalia abroad. As well as clothes for 6 people. Maybe look at Euro camp they have house tents.

They have fridges and all cooking stuff. You do have to take sleeping bags but you get bed's. I've not been for years but the biggest tent we stayed in was a five man.

All great everyone thank you. Any experience of camping with a toddler and a 1 year old ???

Keep an eye on them 🤣🤣 and get a tent with the ground sheet attached to the walls.

I say this because the first time we went camping ds3 was crawling but not walking. I thought he was safe in the tent as long as all the doors were shut,
until I turned round just in time to see a little pair of legs disappearing under the side of the tent.

crockofshite · 06/08/2024 21:54

Tents have bedrooms???

Mumofoneandone · 06/08/2024 22:40

Also worth looking at second hand sites for camping gear. Often spot new or barely used items there for less than shop prices! Help offset the cost of getting set up.

We got this one a few years ago. It doesn't seem to be available but they've probably got similar. It fits six adults easily, one room holds one single airbed with plenty of room for clothes bags etc, one holds two single airbeds with room to walk between or a queen size double with a bit of room down the sides and one can hold four single airbeds comfortably or, with the divider down, one on one side and two on the other, with room for bags and things. It's massive, but having all that space plus room for six camping chairs and a table in the middle makes camping so much nicer. Even before kids were adult they liked having the space and it's nice having room to get everyone's personal stuff out of the main living space without cramping the bedrooms.

Before that we had a 3-bed one from Homebase that was technically a 9-man tent, but once they reached their teens it started to feel cramped in wet weather and DS didn't want to share with his sisters.

We had an Outdoor Revolution 6s - brilliant tent with three bedrooms but this tent was flexible enough that you could buy extra bedroom pod and add attachments linked to side doors. Had a separate porch for area which we used as kitchen area plus dumping ground for boots etc although you could also buy an additional canopy. Really flexible possibilities.-either that or buy the next size up. It was an Airbeam though and weighed a ton.

PictureOfTheSea · 06/08/2024 23:13

We have a Berghaus 6XL Air, this is the current model I can't recommend it highly enough. So quick to put up, solid as a rock in the wind, 3 bedrooms, huge living room space for if its rainy (6ft DH can stand up with plenty room to spare), porch for cooking/sitting out. We bought it after seeing one at a campsite and getting tent envy, now we often get asked about ours by other campers. We've had lots of tents over the years but this one beats the others by a mile. Air beam tents are huge stress savers - I'd now always avoid pole tents at all costs... The only down side is the bag is huge and takes up a lot of space in the car - we use a roof box for the other gear. BTW we got ours half price on Boxing Day.
Also really recommend this camping toilet it folds down to almost nothing. You can line with a bin bag and chuck in some wood based cat litter and it works perfectly for night loo visits.

Just back from 2 weeks camping in what we call the bungalow it’s a kampa tenby tent, 5 double rooms huge living space and even a separate storage room, in the past we’ve had 12
ppl in it. Always room if anyone wants to come join us for a few days

PurBal · 07/08/2024 07:57

We have 2 tents for the 4 of us. DC in and us in another. DC are 3 and 13mo. The larger tent (for the children) has a porch and we use a tarp for shelter.

I've got a tent with 3 bedrooms. I can't remember what it is though

Same here… sorry not very helpful. All I can remember is it’s one of the big well known brands.

Not read the full thread

Haven't camped for about 15 years and we had progressed from tents to a folding camper. Two bedrooms that pull out so no need for airbeds there and you can buy separate bedrooms that you zip into the awning, awning was massive.

No idea how good blow up beds are anymore hope someone else can help with this. When we had blow up beds found they always came down in the night so had two one on top of the other and we always took a duvet for, sleeping bag underneath

Travel cot for babies/toddlers when they were young, I have one now for my GC and they are very easy to put up and you could take down during the day if you want the space

Personally would recommend somewhere that sells a variety of tents so you can have a look. Used to be a place at the entrance to Woburn Abbey

Can recommend Camping and Caravanning Campsite near Veryan, two beaches about 2 miles away. It may be worth joining the Camping and Caravanning Club if it still exists. Lists of good campsites and often useful information

Yes. It's ....interesting. Three things that I wish I'd thought through before going with mine when they were that age. One, how bloody difficult it is cooking/washing up/ changing nappies/ etc at floor level. You don't realise how much you depend on tables until everything is done in a crouch and unless you are a gifted yogi your knees are going to be a source of pain for weeks. Two, you need a very well thought out plan for how you are going to manage from 5am - 7.30 am when your children are wide awake and it's unconscionable to let them out of the tent as no-one else is stirring. Three, what to do with organising a nap for them when the temperature in the tent in the mid afternoon is the same as a McDonald's apple pie. Other than that it's ace!

BettySweaty · 07/08/2024 16:45

Do you have a go outdoors near where you are? They often have tents out up so you can go in and get a feel for the size/room. Plus some are easier to put up than others, especially if you've to keep an eye on little ones at the same time.

Northernlights100 · 07/08/2024 17:53

I’m not sure if anyone has said this but always go for more X man tent than you need. I had a 3 man that worked for me and the 2 DC when they were little but now we have a 5 man and that is the right about of space for a few nights away.

Sunraysunday · 07/08/2024 20:10

Not RTFT but we have this
www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Kampa-Croyde-8/2778
it’s huge but still fits sensibly on a pitch.

Yeah this is true. DP and I have a 5 man tent and I wouldn’t want to go smaller now to be honest.

I went camping last year - DS was away - and I only had our 3 bedroom tent. It was a bit much for the site - but I did have plenty of space to stretch out in.
