Just been talking to my neighbour. He and his family are Nigerian. They haven't been here that long. Both work. They have small dcs.
He's had to take today off work as he works in a town that's been targeted and he's scared to travel.

I'm in tears I'm so angry. Those bastards wouldn't know how to fucking spell work. Luckily I got inside before I broke down. Dh is also teary. They're the loveliest family. I'm genuinely scared for my African neighbours. There's a lot of families moved here from the south because of a housing shortage. All of them that I've met are decent lovely people. Wish I could say the same for a lot of people who are from here.

Such a bunch of mindless thugs. I hope every one of those involved gets fined or put away. I doubt they will all get jailed as there's no prison space, maybe Labour shouldn't have highlighted that. Hope all those filming on their phones like they are making some kind of memories get put away too. Just thick idiots . I feel so sorry for the police, they just look woefully outnumbered.

@Demonhunter hope you've be following the arrest of the delightful local 'business' woman who was caught throwing bins at the police on Friday and is now on remand pending sentencing next month. The comments on social media have given me a much needed laugh over the weekend.

I've just had a colleague message me that she's not sure if she can safely get back to work from where she had been staying away for the weekend, due to the rioting thugs. She is an immigrant who has worked in the NHS for decades, as has her husband. I wouldn't like to guess how many British children are alive because of her. Another of my colleagues, from the north east, messaged last night that he'd spent part of a weekend off ferrying "brown members of staff" to and from their NHS shifts, because public transport wasn't safe for them. He's mixed race British and again served the NHS for decades.

At work today, very valuable colleagues that I have seen save the lives of British babies were discussing how this made them feel scared, and vulnerable and unwanted.

I hate this. I had seen, and deplored, that racism had been stirred up by politicians and online hate speakers. And was rising. And if I could see that as a white person, I dread to think how much more obvious it was to the poor sods experiencing it. But this? This makes me ashamed to be white British. Not in my name.

Yep, we are in London and have been allowed to wfh for as long as we want due to the violence - it's a shit show.

It's not easy being of ethnic minority as it is - now it's currently 10x worse with all the racists coming out of the woodwork!

My kids school is quite diverse now, and they tell me people are often calling out the same little racist group so I trust it's happening, hopefully enough of us are raising our kids to call it out.

My youngest son had a lad in their friend group who made a really racist comment to one of the others and they just cut him out immediately and the parents have told the parents if they ever need backing up with complaining we'll be with them.

Take some comfort from the fact that the majority of indigenous Brits are like me and you, ie, normal and relatively educated. I know it's scary seeing these scumbags but they are definitely in the minority.
