Just been talking to my neighbour. He and his family are Nigerian. They haven't been here that long. Both work. They have small dcs.
He's had to take today off work as he works in a town that's been targeted and he's scared to travel.

I'm in tears I'm so angry. Those bastards wouldn't know how to fucking spell work. Luckily I got inside before I broke down. Dh is also teary. They're the loveliest family. I'm genuinely scared for my African neighbours. There's a lot of families moved here from the south because of a housing shortage. All of them that I've met are decent lovely people. Wish I could say the same for a lot of people who are from here.

I feel really on edge about it all. My children are mixed race and are teenagers so they like to go into town etc with friends. They've already had abuse here for their skin colour (before the riots). I just want to keep them all locked up at home right now even though we are not in a rioting area (yet!). 😐 These guys seem to be out to get anyone who isn't white.

Very sad watching lunchtime news today. Young black man’s car burn out in Liverpool. He cried when he found it. He’d been halfway through a 12 hour care shift when it happened.

This is in the West End of Newcastle. All you can see is anti racist counter protestors around the community centre that does a lot for refugees and was due to be a target of a “protest” tonight. Apparently lots of images being shared of rioters in the town centre that are actually of away football fans from ages ago at at uefa match.

Bit harsh on the sharks... I doubt they'd ever have tasted anything quite so disgusting as those thugs

I feel like the way stories are being spread on social media it’s as damaging in some ways as the actual riots. There may be issues here later but there has already been a lot of fake news locally. DH was working in another part of Newcastle earlier and there were businesses closing early but he was at a police station and they confirmed to him no trouble was expected. So many people are frightened and it’s just such a negative for local economies (often in poorer parts of UK). I really, really hope a way can be found to prosecute some of the instigators on social media too.
