I'm so mortified by what this woman said to me, I don't want to go back to the gym.

I'm so embarrassed. I have lost 4 stone in the last year by eating more healthily and I started going to the gym about 6 months ago in a bit to become more toned and generally feel better. I'm now a size 12 and happy enough with that. I'm 57 and I haven't found it easy.

I really enjoy the gym now and go about 4/5 times a week, on my own, and do my own thing. I feel great. This evening as I was just about to start using the rowing machine, a woman (who is super fit and absolutely stunning) approached me and said 'I don't mean to be rude, but those leggings do nothing for you because you can see your cellulite through them, you might be better with joggers'. She then went back to her equally stunning friend and they seemed to have a good old giggle.

I'm so mortified. My leggings are normally Sweaty Betty ones, not 'up the bum' ones and I wear a long tee shirt too. I felt quite good when I went in tonight and now I'm back to feeling like an overweight old bag and I never want to set foot in there again. I will though, I've worked hard to feel healthier - I just understand why anyone would say something like that. I daresay she can see my cellulite, but why bring someone down like that?

She sounds awful, what a cow! Well done on your weight loss and for exercising regularly. You can be really proud of yourself!
Also, cellulite is absolutely normal.

LoudSnoringDog · 03/08/2024 23:02

She's a bitch. On what fucking planet is it ok to say this???

Alwaysoneoddsock · 03/08/2024 23:02

I bet she couldn’t even see any cellulite.

Aa clichéd as this sounds she is the perfect example of someone who is thoroughly ugly on the inside.
Keep going!
It's inspiring to read how far you've come.

JohnTheRevelator · 03/08/2024 23:04

What a complete bitch! So sorry this happened to you OP. Says more about her and her shitty attitude than it does about you. She may look stunning but she is ugly inside. Well done to you for your amazing weight loss.

WigglyVonWaggly · 03/08/2024 23:04

What is wrong with some people?! Even if she thought it would be somehow helpful, she doesn’t know you and has no place making you feel shit. Please consider watching this reel about cellulite from Henley Fitness Cellulite in the gym (or just search HenleyFitness on Insta if you don’t like clicking links. It’s about ten posts down. She’s a PT and posts a video of her own cellulite to stop women worrying about theirs in the gym.

Shoutymomma · 03/08/2024 23:05

Report this person to gym management. Then order some cheerleading pom-poms so you can be ready in the car park the last time she drives out.

FloofPaws · 03/08/2024 23:07

Oh god how I wish I was you! I'm younger and would probably live a lot longer if I lost 4 stone. You've marvelled over many of us, and I'm in awe of you
Fuck miss prissy twat pants, imagine she had bad breath and a shit sex life, I'll bet she only gets those shitty partners who make her feel shite about her appearance - she's likely a total loser - in all honesty she's an arsehole for being so opinionated and nasty to a person in the gym for doing positive things for their life
Please do your gym work and ignore fucking *unts like that
Good for you - I'm very in awe.

Noshowlomo · 03/08/2024 23:07

Hurt people, hurt people.

Shes got massive issues with herself if she feels the need to upset strangers to make herself feel better. What a little bitch.

Xxxxx2222 · 03/08/2024 23:07

GameOfJones · 03/08/2024 22:59

Please, please report this to the gym management and tell them that it's made you feel you don't want to go back. They will have it on camera if you let them know quickly.

This. Please report her.

Also, when you next go back to the gym, wear the same leggings.

Pusheen467 · 03/08/2024 23:08

She is a horrible little cunt who must be insecure deep own to get her kicks our of putting another person down about their looks. And btw I'm 33/size 6-8 and I have LOADS of celllulite. I've had it since I was 16.

Thatwouldbeme · 03/08/2024 23:09

Well that's just plain nastiness, don't let her knock your confidence, it's bloody hard to loose weight and build yourself up to going to a gym. So please don't let some small minded bully bring you down.

FloofPaws · 03/08/2024 23:09

Ooo by the way my lovely physio is Austrian and he calls skinny women and huge muscle men who just adore themselves disco gym people ... only there for the disco shite 😂

NoSourDough · 03/08/2024 23:09

OP I’m a practicing Wiccan and we believe in the law of three, what we give out comes back to us 3 fold. Good or bad. She will receive back to her , her energy x three in some way, shape or form. I promise you, it will happen. Let her send out her bitch vibes to the world and see what she gets back. You keep being you, keep working on your goals, keep pushing through, keep challenging yourself - keep trying. Don’t change your light. She has seen something in you that has triggered her….its a weakness in her, this isn’t about you….its all on her.

Congratulations on your amazing success - you are an inspiration !

What a nasty nasty bitch ! Well
Done you for losing the weight , she probably has her own insecurities so take no notice nasty horrible person .

Ireolu · 03/08/2024 23:11

Some people really do need to grow up. What a ridiculous and nasty thing to say to a stranger. May look good on the outside but not a great person on the inside. Rise above it and continue to enjoy your transformation OP.

Viviennemary · 03/08/2024 23:11

What a silly horrible pair. Don't give it another thought.

ChishiyaBat · 03/08/2024 23:12

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 03/08/2024 23:00

I’m suggesting the OP rule out the potential for her leggings to be see through at the back.

Even if they are that is none of anyone's business! Cellulite isn't obscene it's natural.

KnottyKnitting · 03/08/2024 23:12

What sort of sad, narcissistic bitch would say such a thing? Her "stunning looks/ fitness" do not match her nasty, horrid personality.

Be confident that Karma will meet her at some point. People will see her for who she is and leave her lonely and sad eventually.

Congratulations on your weight loss and newly found fitness. You are worth so much more than this sad insecure bitch.
Ignore

neilyoungismyhero · 03/08/2024 23:13

It's her not you. She has a big problem maybe not with her arse but her mouth. At least you can cover up your cellulite if you want to, she, on the other hand has a bigger issue. Your weight loss is bloody amazing and you should wear your sweaty Betty's with pride..well done you..ignore her if you don't feel able to approach her with both barrels.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 03/08/2024 23:14

Even at my thinnest of 7 stone I had cellulite on my thighs and I did dancing till I was 17. Now I'm double the weight I was and have a fuck ton more cellulite than I used to have including loads on my arse. Years ago a comment like that would've destroyed me. Now I'd just think to myself oh whatever. I wish I had your motivation to actually do some exercises or go to the gym. The only motivation I have at the moment is watching workout vids on YouTube stuffing chocolate down, whilst thinking that looks tiring 😅

Danielp87 · 03/08/2024 23:15

Don’t change what you wear or what you do because if her, be proud of yourself.

frecklejuice · 03/08/2024 23:15

I would totally speak to the gym manager about that, gyms these days have a lot of rules and she was basically bullying you.

Totally understand how you feel though op, I'm big and have started losing weight and going to the gym but if someone said that to me I'd be devastated. Please don't let it stop you and don't let the nasty bitch get away with it.

flaxensunshine · 03/08/2024 23:17

Total cunt. Please go and say something to her next time

Conniebygaslight · 03/08/2024 23:18

Well there you go….she may be stunning but she’s definitely insecure, trying to show off to her ‘mate’. Come on OP…..take a deep breath and know that you have more class in your little toe. No matter how stunning/slim/groomed someone is, it’s the way they treat others that defines them.
Carry on being your wonderful self xx
