Suspect a lot of the politicians approached would have chosen to give the current news a swerve - or were on holiday and didnt want to be interviewed from a beach etc.

Yes well perhaps they could be a bit more responsible rather than repeatedly build up people who are conspicuously in it for themselves. See Johnson and Farage who owe the BBC in part for their careers.
