I would compete in

Getting around the local ring road with all the traffic lights on green. Personal best is 6. (There are 15 sets)
Number of loads of washing dried on the line in one day. Personal best is 7.

Packing your shopping bags in Aldi.

Not at the checkout I hope. That's a rule violation of the highest order!

FinalInstructionstotheAudience · 02/08/2024 15:09

Spotting, walking briskly towards, then sweeping into open bag, free plants/plant pots left on local walls. Elbows may be deployed if another competitor nearby

Yesterday's speed run round the supermarket while wrangling an irate toddler surely qualifies.

20 minutes. Everything on the list. Nothing not on the list. Child in full rage mode because I very unreasonably wouldn't let them carry the egg carton upside down.

Got home and child proudly told DH "I did big shop! Apple please?"

🥇

Oh yes. Get all your bags ready and waiting in the trolley first, obviously. 😁

It can be done.

No!!, still against the rules. Those in the know (we Northerners [now in south]!), put stuff on the belt, throw it in your trolley as it goes thru' till, pay, retreat to packing area...
That was original strategy to get customers through checkout quickly, keep costs down because - no dawdling and faffing packing bags at till - and obvs, worked where Aldi and Lidl were born
We brits couldn't cope, so in true Brit (actually Southerners only) fashion, we adapted to suit our traditional habits!!
You have clearly discovered a goldilocks compromise, so I'll let you off! 😊😊

Eating crisps, reading books and jigsaws.

I've spent the best part of my life perfecting all 3 😂

Solo mattress moving, up stairs! Or flatpack furniture assembly?

Love the solo mattress one. My better half once moved a double mattress up a narrow staircase while I was at work… ended up stuck underneath it for a good 15 minutes. Wish I’d been there to see it (and take photos obviously) …

My old dachshund would have won the pandiculation event. Suuuch a stretch!

@ErrolTheDragon and @TeaOrCoffeeOrHotChocolate Sorry ladies, my bichon makes a late sprint for gold… she did this once, got to the claws on the edge of the sofa bit… and promptly found something to eat on the floor and so… just kinda stayed in position for a while!

I would watch the hell out of this, unlike the real Olympics.

Me too. This would be hysterical.

WickedStepMa · 04/08/2024 07:51

How about getting the right bins out before the bin men arrive? Or the pyjama sprint to catch them before they go. And the classic 'catch the delivery person/ postie before they complete the form that says they tried to deliver but you were out....

I can tetris anything and even sing the tune in my head!

Love a flat pack challenge.

Loving the thread. 🥰🥰😂😂

Reading.

I am really good at reading.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 04/08/2024 18:41

I'd like to see a sport of people telling the TV how to do a sport, when they have no clue. Like competitive sporting-related gogglebox

Light bulb changing with progressive degrees of difficulty (cumulative):

  1. Furniture balance
  2. Hungry toddler
  3. Long-awaited callback from GP which will end in 4 rings

I assume the qualifier is correctly identifying the required bulb, screw or bayonet, candle or golfball, dimmable or undimmable, blue white or yellow?

Putting the wheelie bins out in your Crocs.

Izzynohopanda · 04/08/2024 19:23

My dog would want to enter the “who-can -snatch -the -quickest - the cheese/tea towel/cake of the kitchen counter “ competition.

My work commute - Off tube and onto escalator - first = Gold, second = Silver, third = Bronze. Involved getting the correct door to escalator (pole position, being at the front when doors open). I'd try and get to the bottom of the escalator in medal position too ...

OnHisSweaterAlreadyMomsSpaghetti · 05/08/2024 01:01

Getting an angry toddler dressed when they don’t want too. Round two would be dressing an octopus and comparing the difficulty of the two
