I have a little girl aged 6, and I cannot stop thinking about how terrified those girls were and how much pain those parents must be going through.
It’s breaking my heart for everyone involved.

Why is there so much evil in this world, and to target that evil onto children is just unthinkable.

The people rioting make me sick, attacking the same police force who ran towards this maniac are now being attacked by yobs.

Edited

I keep thinking imagine the parents waking up next morning (if they get any sleep) and thinking it must have been a bad nightmare and then knowing it's not.

Thinking your child is never coming home, playing with all their toys, never going back to school.

It's heartbreaking.

Twitter was full of the most horrifically right wing posts yesterday, no sympathy for the victims, no admiration for the exceptionally courageous people who did all they could to protect the children, just vicious rumour mongering to support their particular agenda. To see such a terrible event only in terms of furthering extreme views is deeply disturbing

This ^ It's disgusting how these lowlifes have crawled out from behind whatever stone and seem to be relishing in this horrific tragedy, using it for their own agenda without a second thought for the wee girls who lost their lives, the other victims and all of their families and community. It's the ultimate show of disrespect, they couldn't care less about the victims.

People have a right to be angry and to protest. There have been two other protests in the last few weeks (in Leeds and after the airport fight with the police) which were considered legitimate in the circumstances. In light of the grotesque murders of these poor children, protesting seems an entirely normal response to the amount of anger people feel and I don't blame them!

RW thugs have no right to further traumatise the people of Southport, wreck their community and use up their emergency services. There is no justification for these scum. They're exploiting this tragedy for their own, violent, racist ends.Angry

Thanks to EDL and their hard of thinking, the suspect will now become a celebrity for a cause and have many good mates looking out for him, which he wouldn't have before. He would have had an unbearable time in jail, now many will have his back. Very annoying.

DrRorysXmasCartoon · 31/07/2024 07:35

There was another street incident in Southend, Essex, with male teenagers threatening the public with machetes near the Adventure Island Theme park, which was busy with families last night. Dozens of park visitors were filmed fleeing the scene on foot in a desperate bid to escape the knife-wielding youths.

Six people have been arrested after the chaos erupted on the seafront and High Street of Southend-on-Sea on Tuesday evening. I wonder what their pusnihment will be?

Knife crime is not an isolated problem. All over the country, men of whatever ethnicity or religion impose their violent selves on society. I'm afraid, the problem does begin in the home. I've seen much ineffectual parenting of boys from the loveliest, lentil weaving mothers who identify as feminists to families where male patriarchy is traditionally ingrained and celebrated. Their sons' bad behaviour is excused with 'boys will be boys' and their sense of entitlement and superiority nurtured. Blame for any issue involving girls, including sexually inappropriate behaviour, even in primary schools is blamed on girls. It's obviously not just the mothers, their fathers are not instilling the right discipline and values either. Violent and unacceptable content on the internet is another problem. Punish criminals where it hurts, for first offences, in addition to community sentences, take away their right to access any kind of tech for a period of time and introduce compulsory socialising courses.

Sorry can't see the logic of this - expect there's plenty of EDL types in prison and notoriously child killers have a particularly hard time in prison

He'll be no 'hero'

Horrible to wake up to see still escalating mayhem and violence in various places

Poor officers, 39 injured last night

Missm68 · 31/07/2024 08:39

Just seen the news this morning.im ashamed to be British. Just stop and think of the 3 little girls that's sadly died, and the many injured fighting for life. Sickend.

lollipoprainbow · 31/07/2024 08:43

Why didn't the police run away like at hare hills. They allowed rioters to smash the streets up completely. Funny how the batons and riot shields come out for some and not for others.

Was this also the EDL??

Doubt it, they are not pissed up and throwing rocks at each other. But they are thugs who fancied a riot on a hot night.

Your posts are very illuminating.

Politicians will need to do more than they are if they want to deal with rising tensions

lollipoprainbow · 31/07/2024 08:57

@PandoraSox waving machetes around on a hot evening is perfectly acceptable ?

What sort of things do they need to do more of?
I mean obviously it'd be good to do 'more' to counter male violence, but it's unclear what politicians can do.

I would suggest looking at the cause of this across the EU and here

This was foreseeable from a couple of years back. It will likely increase. The more disorder we see the harder it is to react clearly. But I have thought social tensions would rise so it’s not surprising

So all the head in the sand type stuff probably needs to go for a start. Then think about causes

I should have been clearer in my post above as I am now being accused of saying things I haven't.

So to the question of whether it was EDL in Southend, my reply is:

Could you point out where I have said that? If you can't perhaps ask MNHQ to delete your post.

I agree. I was appalled to see the vile thugs in Southport last night and they deserved to be beaten back with batons and riot shields. However, it did strike me that a totally different approach was taken with the Leeds rioters.
.
It’s this two tier policing that needs to stop. Everyone in this country has to be held to the same laws and policing methods as everyone else, regardless of ethnicity or religion

What was the situation in Leeds? Links would be great if you have any.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 31/07/2024 09:55

I don't understand why these protestors would choose to focus on a mosque when so far at least, there is nothing to suggest the alleged perpetrator is a Muslim or was acting on any Islamic Ideology. They seem to be of the opinion that information is being kept from us about the motive and the identity of the alleged attacker. I have no idea if they are right or not, but a couple of things occur to me:

The police have made a statement to say the alleged perpetrator is British born and of Rwandan parentage. They've made a statement along the lines of 'we are not treating this as a terror incident but we are still being assisted by the anti-terrorism arm of the police.' Which is nothing if not ambiguous.

Obviously there are many 'causes' for acts of terror and many forms of ideology, so surely if there was no evidence whatsoever to link this to Islam and no evidence so far of Islamic conversion or radicalisation in the alleged perpetrator, wouldn't it be in everyone's interests if the police could just come out and say that?

I know they have a thorough investigation to do, but surely they know enough by now to be able to quash rumours and dispel any misinformation, which would help to mitigate an anti-Islam backlash.

Userjfxkgxkgxkgxkgx · 31/07/2024 09:56

It’s an excuse by the Tommy lovers to blame Muslims

ErrolTheDragon · 31/07/2024 10:04

@TwigletsAndRadishes - if the police said anything re it not being remotely linked to Islamism, the racist shitstirrers would likely respond with 'they would say that wouldn't they' and 'ooh, no smoke without fire' - despite probably knowing that the smoke was never more than disinformation. They don't want facts, they want excuses - however tenuous - to indulge in their vile behaviour.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 31/07/2024 10:05

In addition to my last post, all the police have done so far is to deny the rumour that he was a recent arrival on a migrant boat and state that his real name is not the Islamic sounding name doing the rounds on X.

AInightingale · 31/07/2024 10:11

It isn't hard to find the suspect's identity on X...

Eh? They've given details of where he was born and where his parents are from.

Which is probably about all they can do till he turns 18. What more do you think they should have done?
