Southport - why do they keep saying a ‘Taylor Swift themed club’?

It’s really bothering me.

Is it because
a) the murder of 2 children and attempted murder and severe injury of 9 others isn’t newsworthy enough without involving Taylor Swift’s name?

b) Taylor Swift needs to suffer some guilt by association in the way Ariana Grande did with the bombing at her concert?

What’s the need or relevance? If it had been a 80’s music dance class would they keep saying that? Why not just say summer dance club and then focus on the children and adults who were hurt or killed - I can’t even imagine the devastation their families and the whole community must be suffering.

Why are people so puzzled/disbelieving that it could be a white British male that's committed an act of violence? It's not unheard of(!)

You have not read a word I have written. I have said he’s a minor. But he’s not a child or a boy. He’s killed actual children. So the distinction to me is important.

I was just reading on line what happened and got very tearful. Now it has been announced that a third girl has died aged just 9. Just heartbreaking.

Sky news saying police have confirmed the name being shared on Twitter is NOT correct.

Given the "alleged" (for legality sake) attacker is 17 does that have any bearing on how you all feel than if he had been 35 for instance.

Brianna Ghey's killers were 16 at the time, and named.

Why is this animal exempt?

They weren't named straight away after the attack. They were named a year later during the trial when the judge decided they should be. It's very likely that will also happen when this case goes to trial.

They weren't named until they were convicted and only then at the discresion of the judge.

Sky is happily confirming they are all girls as the police confirmed it about ten minutes ago, so are other outlets.

Reading this is disgusting. None of us are experts. None of us know what's actually happening. All this speculation and fact lobbing is bullshit and needs to stop.

Precisely this. He didn't attack eg a boxing club or a martial arts club where there are more likely to be adult males present.

We don't know who the two critical adults are. No information at all about them.

What should be done is for the government to start putting laws in place. Do not you think murders are on the up? Unless they did not report it before because every day there are horrific murders committed all over the country. It is always known to police with MH problems. Why? Or should be accept this as the new normal? Crime also on the up? People disappearing. So you think nothing can be done. This country was safe and now features like a third world country for crime and murders. We also a small one so it should not be that hard, I refuse to believe nothing can be done.
