I wfh. I finish at 5pm.

What time would you crack open a bottle?

I somehow feel that anything before 8pm is a bit too early.

I try to wait until 7 but really, any time after 6 doesn't leave me feeling too guilty

MagneticSquirrel · 26/07/2024 17:44

5pm if done for day and not driving. (but never finish work at 5)

Waiting until 8pm seems late to open a bottle but go to bed 9-10pm.

Aquamarine1029 · 26/07/2024 17:45

It's always 8pm somewhere.

mynameiscalypso · 26/07/2024 17:45

I'd say 6. But I prefer to have a drink earlier rather than later so it doesn't affect my sleep at all.

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 26/07/2024 17:46

The cocktail hour is 6pm chez moi.

Fundays12 · 26/07/2024 17:46

It depends on the night on a Friday night normally after 8. If me and DH are having dinner together on our at the weekend (home date night) 6.30 over dinner

YouCantCallMeBetty · 26/07/2024 17:47

I usually go for around 6ish, but depends if I have to drive DC anywhere.
Altho I do often look longingly at the wine if I open the fridge on my lunch break Blush

UpgradedTitanCameraMan · 26/07/2024 17:47

I'll usually have a glass when cooking dinner on a Friday, so around 6pm. And then another once the kids are down for the night around 9pm.

MumChp · 26/07/2024 17:48

Then I fancy it.
We drink very little. The time wouldn't bother me.

DeathpunchDan · 26/07/2024 17:48

Whenever you fancy. One of the advantages of being an adult 😀.
Ignore anyone who judges you, and enjoy. We only live once.

CrushingOnRubies · 26/07/2024 17:50

Now!!! Cheers 🍷🍷

spicysamosahotcupoftea · 26/07/2024 17:51

8pm would be way late for me. 6pm is a good time although I would happily start drinking at 430 if I'm wfh on a Friday 😆

Niiina · 26/07/2024 17:52

5pm 🙌🏼

gingercat02 · 26/07/2024 17:52

There is no specific time.
Glass if you are out for lunch
Pre lunch aperitif on holiday
On a normal weekend evening after 6 pm is my usual earliest, but on a sunny afternoon, it might be earlier in the garden.
I'm opening a bottle once I hang the washing out. Wine is definitely the end of chores, cheers 🥂🍷🍾

Prapsfound · 26/07/2024 17:53

5.30…8 is late but I go to bed at 9.30

devildeepbluesea · 26/07/2024 17:54

I’m an early bird, and very often will have a Pointless Wine…so 5.15 chez moi.

yeesh · 26/07/2024 17:54

5.01

RosesAndHellebores · 26/07/2024 17:57

When the sun goes over the yard arm.

In reality I don't drink before 6pm even if we go out for lunch, except on Christmas day.

GradGirl · 26/07/2024 17:57

I’d say 5:45 onwards if work was finished by 5.

I’m trying not to drink until October and have bought a variety of non alcoholic spirits, some of them you can’t tell the difference….. but I would love a glass of rose this evening and I’d have cracked it open by now (day’s leave and it’s gorgeous in the garden).

Meadowwild · 26/07/2024 17:58

Usually 5.30 or 6pm here. But when DC were younger, I actually had just one small glass 125ml at 4.30 or 5. That was when I really wanted one. For the rest of the evening, I was happy to drink water, tea etc. But once DC were home from school, and if there were no other places we had to be later on, I liked to have one while they watched CCTV and I cooked their tea. It just unwound me before the onslaught of homework, bath, storytime, bed, prepping uniform, kit, food etc for next day - the whole slog of evening chores with small children, when you long to unwind.

AuntieMarys · 26/07/2024 17:58

Any time after 12. I only day drink and finish by 6

DuncanMeBiscuit · 26/07/2024 18:00

It's up to the individual.

If I'm having a glass or two I generally start about 9pm, but then I don't go to bed till after midnight on weekends.
