It's time for the Olympic Games for the Playmobil people in our house...

... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

In the women's event it's Deepika's turn.

That has gone a long way!

Now it's time for the shot put.

Yevgeni is happy with that!

It's time for the medal ceremony for the men's 4800mm race.

The Duchess of Ruggington is presenting the medals.

Absolutely spectacular 😍

The medallists are each presented with a bunch of flowers.

It's gold for Ingvar, silver for Jesse and bronze for Torben. They are all very happy!

I'll be back tomorrow with more sporting action.

This was so much better than the Olympic Opening Monstrosity I saw on the BBC last night.

I think a quick email to Playmobil is needed , if they can make javelins and hammers they can make shot putt balls and discusses - is discusses a word, and medals!

I was sorry to miss the flag raising, I do hope they got the flag the right way up, unlike that unfortunate faux pas last night in Paris.

Well, yes, I had to use a snowball covered in foil for the shot and a frisbee covered in foil for the discus! And we don't seem to have an Olympic flag, sorry! I did also have to make our own grandstands and running track, as Playmobil have neglected to provide any...

They do make laurel wreaths and trophies (and rosettes for horses) but no medals strangely!
