It's time for the Olympic Games for the Playmobil people in our house...

... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

They are confident approaching the blue fence...

...and that's a great clear round and in an excellent time too! They are going to be hard to beat!

The final competitor is Maaike on Gallimaufry.

They have cleared the water jump by a huge margin!

And a clear round for Maaike and Gallimaufry - but is their time good enough to beat Pernilla and Slipstream?

Not quite! So it's Pernilla on Slipstream for gold, Maaike on Gallimaufry for silver and Hannelore on Grenzenlos for bronze!

Thank you all for the lovely comments! I had a lot of fun with the horses' names - they are actually all names of pieces of music I have played in wind bands!

@SoMuchToBits absolutely BRILLIANT, I've been eagerly waiting for the horses and I wasn't disappointed! Loved it sooo much. They are all so handsome but especially Grenzenlos, is he an Appaloosa??

(Trying hard not to give in to temptation and buy a whole livery yard full of Playmobil horses)

@JimJonesLivesInMyHead I think Grenzenlos might well be an Appaloosa. He comes from this set 70999box.jpg (940×658) (playmodb.org) but looks also very similar to the horse in this set (which I don't have) 6935box.jpg (866×674) (playmodb.org) which is called "Horse stable with Appaloosa".
