Have you been to a place no one else has been to? AGAIN!

Hi

Someone mentioned enjoying this thread so I thought I'd do another one. IIRC you had to post three places and other MNers said if they'd been there. If they hadn't, you won my undying respect.

No impossible places like the inside of a nuclear reactor this time. As small as a pub, as big as a country.

I'll start:

Tikal, Guatemala
Alice Springs, Australia (easy one!)
Jinja, Uganda

GO!

@rumblegrumble I go to Luxembourg for work on a semi-regular basis but never get further than Kirchberg. I need to go and stay for the weekend sometime and actually visit the old town.

newtb · 23/07/2024 15:28

Overnight in a log cabin on the summit of grand canyon. 2 nights.

2Blackbirds · 23/07/2024 15:29

I have been to

Had a meal & a pint at the bar inside walls of the Tower of London, which the Beefeaters go

Visited 2 secret nuclear bunkers, one of which was totally self sufficient with dormitories, kitchen, hospital, war room

The Purple Forbidfen city in Hue Vietnam

Imicola · 23/07/2024 15:29

@justbegoodforme - been to Gjirokaster in Albania (and got pulled over by the police who obviously thought we looked suspicious!).

Also @rumblegrumble I visited Luxembourg as a young adult but remember nothing apart from a bridge...!

I have been to Eindhoven more times than I care to remember. Who did I work for?

Berlinlover · 23/07/2024 15:32

Nightblindness · 23/07/2024 15:33

I'm not a big traveller. The best I can think of are:
The cockpit of Concorde whilst it was in flight (just to better the poster who mentioned it in its hangar)
The steps of 10 Downing Street
The observation deck of the World Trade Centre.

Oh and I've been to Westonbirt Arboretum to the poster who mentioned that. Several times.

Livinginaclock · 23/07/2024 15:35

Gili Islands, Indonesia.
Northam, Western Australia.
Hat Yai, Thailand.

DollyTubb · 23/07/2024 15:36

I've been to Uzbekistan!!! (It's pathetic how smug I feel. Sorry!)

I've also been to:
Kargill, Ladakh (India)
Ama Dablam Base camp, Nepal
Kulusuuk, East Greenland

turkeyboots · 23/07/2024 15:37

Inside the UNHCR refugee camp in Kigoma, Tanzania. Sadly there were hundreds of people there, but few on Mumsnet I'd guess.

So have I, also been to Mijas in Spain which has been mentioned

ErrolTheDragon · 23/07/2024 15:37

The observation deck of the World Trade Centre.

We did that, around 1991.

And Westonbirt.

Berlinlover · 23/07/2024 15:38

Places I've slept (misspent youth edition):

The Round House, Chalk Farm, when it was empty and closed up

On top of a haystack, Trentino

No Man's Land, Berlin (behind the East Side Gallery section of the Berlin Wall), about 1991

We were wandering no man's land at the same time looking for traces of Hitler's Bunker. Also had a photo taken of the Brandenburg Gate and couldn't think at the time why it looked so bare but the amazing Quadriga was missing! Need to go back and see it in all its glory.

Chewbecca · 23/07/2024 15:41

Sorry, Falklands isn't unique, have also been there🐧🐧🐧
