Have you been to a place no one else has been to? AGAIN!

Hi

Someone mentioned enjoying this thread so I thought I'd do another one. IIRC you had to post three places and other MNers said if they'd been there. If they hadn't, you won my undying respect.

No impossible places like the inside of a nuclear reactor this time. As small as a pub, as big as a country.

I'll start:

Tikal, Guatemala
Alice Springs, Australia (easy one!)
Jinja, Uganda

GO!

Suzhou, China
Nagasaki, Japan
Asuncion, Paraguay

FoleyHuck · 23/07/2024 14:47

@TeenToTwenties I love both! Next on the list is spending the night at Seymour Tower but I need to come to terms with the rather rough and ready bathroom situation first Grin

Tenderlojn district of San Francisco (admittedly lost! funny story).

Axat, Occitane region of southern France (cool pool).

Peñiscola, near Valencia, where part of El Cid was filmed.

I've been to Tenderloin. It's pretty close to Nob Hill, which is where I was heading!

East Berlin is interesting. If somewhere doesn't exist anymore, does it count? Hmmmmmmm, don't know; I'll leave it to the group.

That’s what I wondered. I’ve been to Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, USSR… a varied childhood!

Whatever happens, I want to go to all the places on this thread!!

Imicola · 23/07/2024 15:03

I have also been to Jinja in Uganda, but don't think I've been to any of the others.

Here's my three:

  • Bamenda, Cameroon
  • Nyamata church genocide memorial, Rwanda
  • The Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC.
Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2024 15:03

@Bitteralmond I've been to Kazbegi! I went in 2003 and apparently the name has changed since then. The church in Gergeti was lovely! So you've probably been to one of mine, the Jvari Pass.

@silverbirches I've been to Tsavo West but not to Lake Jipe - I'm guessing there's some good birdwatching there (like Lake Naivasha), are you a twitcher?

ErrolTheDragon · 23/07/2024 15:05

Belas Knap, Gloucestershire

I've been there.

My 3 I think will be
Greenland
The Spotted Lake near Osoyoos BC
Lava Falls, Colorado river.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/07/2024 15:05

The conservation department of the Bodleian Library

Xiaoxiong · 23/07/2024 15:05

@Bananalanacake I've been to Stationers' Hall for a corporate AGM. Spent more time looking at the lovely stained glass than concentrating on whoever was talking...

Backstage with the Foo Fighters isn't a place. But backstage at Glastonbury would be. Where I have been. Grin
