Put the country before himself - yes, finally, but he’s done it.

Please God let my country be ok.

The Dems have fucked it and basically given the next term to Donald. Much like Labour gave Boris the win in 2019 because Corbyn was so unpopular.

Stupid Democrats. Good luck America.

@Combattingthemoaners

"You don’t hear men in politics criticised for lacking intelligence regardless of how inept they are."

Trump
Boris Johnson
Matt Hancock

I disagree. Their intelligence is not the main criticism. Their integrity/moral compass potentially but not intellect. Trump is often applauded for being a brilliant entrepreneur.

Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve - And never was! He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement.

And dear Donald has of course never told a single lie or spread any fake news. Although I suppose you can't accuse him of living in his basement.

God bless help America.

How did the democrats get themselves into this mess?

Because they didn’t address this sooner. He clearly hasn’t been capable for many months, but they’ve only started taking it seriously now. When Trump sails into power, because he will, I hope the Democrat administration reflect on this, and accept that they’re 100% at fault for this shit show.

I wonder what will happen now.

I know she isn't officially the nominee until the convention, but presumably they'll want any campaign to get up and running asap, so will she want to pick a potential VP candidate before the convention?
Or will it be the case that any potential VPs will want to wait and see if they can maybe swoop in and get the main nomination before agreeing to a VP place?

Pelosi's adviser essentially said that Bidens opinion about who should be next doesn't count anyway. He also said until the mid-end of August we won't know who is likely to run.

Now it’s no longer a hypothetical question surely they’ll want some time to let this bed in and for the polls to adjust in order to assess who actually has the best chance of winning.

Have all these people who are singing Biden's praises, ever looked into his past?

The man joked about his role in the bombing of Belegrade. He made up WOMD and was a huge reason for the invasion of Iraq. He is not 'one of the good guys' and he has presided over a complete breakdown in international relations both in Europe and abroad.

How anyone can see this man as good or righteous is beyond me. He is anything but. Worst president America (and the world) have ever had to contend with.

A complete breakdown in international relations? Please.

From what I'm hearing it's more or less Harris.

Depends on whether anyone else will throw their hat in the ring. So far Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan (who won recent reelection by more than 10 points in a must-win swing state) and a top-of-list candidate in this situation, has said she won’t run. If senior congressional and gubernatorial Democrats come out for Harris and build momentum for her no one else will run. If, on the other hand, they (or most of them) hold their powder then there will be a real race - maybe Gavin Newsom will challenge her, or Josh Shapiro or Mark Kelly. The only one I can really see putting up is Newsom, but this is a ver fluid situation.

The Clintons have just endorsed Harris.

AndForAFortnightThereWeWereForever · 21/07/2024 20:24

Surely Kamala will take over will she not?

Good job he quit. He's not done much worth shouting about since he won the last election. No WAY would he have been suited to another 5 years.

Interesting. Wonder if Obama does too - that will be very telling either way.

They do not really have much to pick from. August would be too late. They made their bed. Biden was only put there to win the election without further thought. May be they start thinking now beyond the we aren’t Trump. Listen to all the people concerns and stop insulting the people who don’t agree with them.

AndForAFortnightThereWeWereForever · 21/07/2024 20:26

Imagine knowing there is a very good chance of Trump being President of the USA again! Shock Man, I'm glad I'm British/live in the UK!

Mommybunny · 21/07/2024 20:26

Per Maggie Haberman in the NY Times: “Hillary Clinton knows better than anyone the challenge of being a woman running against Trump, and what that could look like.”

I really don’t know! Personally I’m quite excited by it. I was excited by her original run for President in 2020 - even though it didn’t pick up steam then I don’t see why that’s a problem when Biden himself had run at least twice before then and never gotten far in the primaries before being the inevitable nominee in 2020 and the winner.

I think the events of the past couple of weeks have made people forget just how hated Trump is in the US. I’m hoping Democrats and independents rally around Harris, or whomever the nominee is, and get rid of Trump forever. She can prosecute the case against him much better than Biden can, and I’m praying that’s enough. But if nothing else she may stop the bleeding in the congressional races.

Please God you're right about how hated Trump is, the thought of him winning this is horrendous.

A complete breakdown in international relations? Please.

There are wars in Europe and in The Middle East all reeking of Biden's failure to do any sort of diplomacy. For most of the last year the Americans had absolutely no contact with China, one of the biggest superpowers in the world. He sent Harris to Africa with a crazy agenda and she was laughed out. Now most African protests involve people in Russian/Putin shirts burning American flags.

I am amazed people cannot see this for what it is or that man for who he is. Trump is no angel but my God he is better for international relations than Biden who would happily give Americas waining money away for his own ego and pension pot.

CyanideShake · 21/07/2024 20:29

So now ole Trumpy boy is the old codger in the race.

He's wasted everyone's time and it's too late to catch up. He's handed the white house to ghastly trump.

Why is it too late? There is time.

Exactly. Well said. I'm no Trump fan but far less harm was done on his watch than on Biden's and Kamala Harris in charge is just laughable
