Put the country before himself - yes, finally, but he’s done it.

Please God let my country be ok.

@Pikapikapikachu11 absolutely not, he’s despicable. But all the people here being teary eyed about what a great president he’s been are being very selective with thr facts. The best thing you can say about Biden is he’s better than Trump, and that’s a low bar to clear.

Nailed it!

A reminder that Hilary Clinton won the popular vote.

Edited

Unfortunately, in their system it doesn't mean anything really.

Yeah, heard someone being interviewed before and she mentioned a potential Harris/Pritzker ticket. But she also said - like you - that he and others with a strong chance might not be willing to go on a ticket with Harris and might hold out for the big prize, either now or in 2028

He’s a billionaire? I’m not seeing most of these people playing second fiddle to anyone actually. VP is a notoriously low power position.

Simplepink · 21/07/2024 23:46

I read that If Michelle Obama stood she would do very well?

She would probably do better than Kamala.

If you think Trump is 'respected' on the world stage, you're so far beyond delusional that you've out-delusioned the term delusional. He is seen as a joke by basically every single international leader bar Putin, maybe bar North Korea. Biden was a bumbling old man, but he was respected one hundred million times more than Trump ever was or could be. In is galaxy and stratosphere and the next. I would say Trump is the least respected international leader there is. Even Putin is respected more than him.

I didn't discuss or mention Trump. I talked about Joe Biden, whose political career spans decades and includes massive involvement in Ukraine since 2014 at least, him laughing about sending the order to bomb Belegrade and a number of other, very sticky wars and situations that his hands are crimson because of.

Not to mention his more recent gaffs, his State of the Union address last year where he went off script and started laying into Xi JingPing. Or more recently where he said his uncle was cannabalised in New Guinea. The man is a foreign policy nightmare. He has ties to pretty much every dodgy war in any of our lifetimes. Thank God he is gone and lets hope whoever comes next is less war hungry and more capable of diplomacy.

DowntownFoxyBrown · 21/07/2024 23:51

How is Kamala going to answer when asked about Biden’s mental capacity issues and the cover-up? I suspect that will be a big debate question.

Polling reports have Michelle Obama and surprisingly Hilary Clinton as the only two democrat possibilities that could beat Trump.

Harris and the male candidates would all lose.

Biden is NOT a good man. Have you all forgotten the creepy handling and sniffing of young girls (and that’s what he was doing in public)? That when he was VP the security services had to stop assigning female agents to work with him because he always took his clothes off in front of them? That he has put the democrats in a position where they can’t win against Trump because he was clinging to power, probably so he could pardon his criminal son?

As opposed to a convicted felon and rapist?

1dayatatime · 21/07/2024 23:56

@RosieChardonnay

"It will have to be Harris because of the sponsors"

Perhaps but if they back Harris then she will lose. I'm sure that the sponsors would rather back someone with a chance of winning (if there is such a Democrat person).

Yes you did mention Trump. You said: Trump is no angel but my God he is better for international relations than Biden

I was responding solely to that.

Putting · 22/07/2024 00:03

It will have to be Harris because of the sponsors

I don’t know how the funding thing works, but does anyone know if the money could be accessed if Harris remained on the ticket but as VP? Or would she have to be running for president?

SoreAndTired1 · 22/07/2024 00:08

Well, Harris is certainly out of the gates:

Joe Biden is out - God bless him

But they never said they thought Trump was respected, only that Biden was worse.

There seem to be several posters here who bizarrely interpret criticism of Biden as thinking that means someone is saying Trump is good. They need to revisit their comprehension.

justasking111 · 22/07/2024 00:14

I was very impressed by Josh Shapiro when he spoke following the Trump shooting. I thought then that he had gravitas

Again I was responding solely and only to the suggestion that Trump is better for international relations than Biden. Nobody could be worse for international relations than Trump. Nobody.

Yes, and I think he's endorsed Harris now anyway.

They absolutely can be. Trump, for all his flaws, is not an interventionist. He is very much only for committing American troops for direct obvious (to him) American interests. Below is a quick reminder of what American’s intervention in Iran achieved:

I'll bite for this one. What American intervention exactly?

The Islamic Revolution was the result of a vote and civil unrest due to inflation, shortages, and the after effects of the 1973 oil crisis. Khomeini took control as the Western backed Pahlavi fled the country.

If you mean intervention that led to Pahlavi having control... then really we should shoulder the blame. Labour-led greed for oil from Atlee started the events that led to the 1953 Coup. Churchill and the Conservatives carried on that greed and we pretty much pressured the US and the Truman Administration in supporting our cause (Truman was willing to work with Mossadegh) that led to Pahlavi taking. TLDR. We threw our toys out the pram because Iran nationalised its oil

He committed to finishing his term when he ran. I think he has sincere goals for his state that he’d like to compete.
