Things I never thought I would find sexy in a partner....

Udonoodles4Tea · 15/07/2024 14:00

Context: I have a new(ish) fella after 16 years of being with a total and utter twat.
I am finding some of the things that he does so so sexy.....

  • he can pack shopping properly, no misshapen bread at the bottom of the bag, no squashed sausages, refrigerated stuff all in one bag together and food separated from cleaning products.
  • he really knows how to do laundry - I am talking colour sorting, lovely scented detergents, looking at the care labels...Nice. Fluffy. Towels.
I mean, there are loads more things but I am a little too excited to mention them right now... Me in my 20s would be utterly confused, but in my 40s I honestly cannot get enough of the man.

I can't help but wonder if other MN Posters have had a similar shift in their tastes over the last 20 years?

@KikiShaLeeBopDeBopBop That's sketch is really funny! And now that it's mentioned, I quite like the jumper-removal thing too.

Udonoodles4Tea · 15/07/2024 16:08

@Justsewsew I get what you're saying but we both burn very easily and go to out of the way places where the hand washing facilities aren't the best 🤷‍♀️
Appreciating nature, caring for animals and enjoying a nice view are other things that are literally setting me alight 😂

Loving the shouts outs to big competent hairy overweight men here - mine falls right into this category and he couldn't be more gorgeous to me if he tried.
Fanny gallops aplenty 😂

Another couple:

  • he always drives and I actually love being a passenger princess. He reaches over and puts his hand on my thigh or holds my hand whilst driving (not gropey, just nice) and I am like jelly 😂
  • also a car journey one, he always has bottles of water, cans of pepsi max, sun cream, umbrellas and hand sanitiser wipes in the car and when we go out for the day he makes sure there are plenty of places with toilets / tea and coffee options along the way

Are you sure he's a he?

UptheHoop · 15/07/2024 16:14

Infatuation much?

🙄 Yes, you don't need a load of toxic masculinity to be a man it seems

Glad you found a good one to show you that 😍

Who's infatuated?

Booking the kids swimming lessons every term without me having to have an option and/or involvement.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 15/07/2024 16:27

Competence and skill are so damn attractive.

Generally, but also people with specialist skills. Watching performers train horses, or practice sword fighting has made me weak at the knees in the past. Not when they are performing, mind. Purely the practice and refinement of a skill.

See also people who are totally focused on what they are doing- firefighters pounding up the stairs after a suspected issue.

Be still my beating heart.

If only men knew how attractive they are when they are doing things properly.

Another one here with a burly, overweight hairy chested man who is extremely competent at just about everything. I love watching him wet shave because he uses a proper cut throat razor and it's the sexiest bloody thing ever. Honestly I could sell tickets to you all and make a fortune!

TheNuthatch · 15/07/2024 16:36

You sound really happy OP. Maybe being with your shitty ex for 16 years has taught you what a proper life partner looks like. Good luck to you both.

Topoftheflops · 15/07/2024 16:47

I love reading these. I like it when he meticulously packs the trolley so things are easy to get to/put away/don't get squashed. He puts a lot of care and thought into it. I think I've bashed his laundry skills on another thread so I need to work on my karmic balance now and post this.
He does a good dish wash loading and will always put one on to help things along even when he's just come in from a shift very late and he's tired. That to me is sexy.
I like it when he doesn't take himself too seriously and goofs around. He does a funny dance if he's excited and I can't help but fancy him more. It's not ick it's really cute.
AND when I've called in to his work, he looked all in control and serious serving customers, I had to look away because I felt all giggly.

Being able to talk and engage confidently with new people. Shyness is the opposite. Can't bear it. Or arrogance. Whichever prevents them from just being able to talk to people in an interested and engaging way.

kshaw · 15/07/2024 17:06

I thought someone was knocking on my door at about 11pm. Freaked me out. Was told to sit down and he'd go look. After being married to someone that sent me downstairs when thought we were being burgled it couldn't have been any sexier

@WearyAuldWumman sorry for you loss x

Thank you.

This is a lovely thread - I recognise so much of it.

Ooh, thought of another fanny-gallop I had recently – found out my DP and my dad have their own Whatsapp chat going where they talk about books.

"Is not afraid of, and nurtures his own separate relationship with, my most loved family members"

*pounding hoofbeats...

He saw me taking the bin bag out and took over. Phwoar.

😂😂😂

Years ago,I was dating a guy who's first language was Spanish. He spoke excellent English and I very rarely heard him speak his native language. One day his sister phoned him (who barely spoke any English) and he was chatting in Spanish on the phone for about 10 minutes. I was practically swooning 😂😂😂

Competent reversing. Extra points if it is a big vehicle/tractor/has a trailer or if he puts his hand on my seat to check backwards. Blimey.

Hahaha this made my chuckle. I'm with you on this one.

WirelessWendy · 15/07/2024 17:30

Critical thinking.
Excellent spelling and grammar.
Financial planning so we can both retire early.
He does ALL the holiday travel planning. (Except the packing, which is the bit I like).

AFeastForCrows · 15/07/2024 17:36

Being in control of things without being controlling. Assertive enough to sort things out if they aren’t quite right. I was in hospital recently and he advocated for me in such an assertive but polite way that I would have married him there and then!
