Do you know his other family then? Or have you just been reading the gossip?

No, I've just given my opinion based on my thoughts that generally, people who have good people around them dont do the things he did in his past.

if thats OK with you of course.

He was convicted and sentenced for a violent machete attack on a boy with special needs. That's morally bankrupt.

Slater was on the periphery ..and the kid they attacked was also no angel, trying to break into a house while householders were asleep .

{Google to see}

They all seem as bad as each other , and the kid attacked stood up for Slater.

This.

I think the conspiracy theories often arise because its easier than thinking a 19 year old lad is on holiday one moment then dead and gone the next through something as commonplace as a fall. Easier to believe in some big reason for it than in an accident of fate that there but for the grace of God could be our own son. Also, a lot of conspiracy theories had him alive and well somewhere, which is obviously more comforting to think.

Istillbelieve · 15/07/2024 14:11

Such sad news. His poor mother and the rest of the family have been through so much and now the news they didn't want to hear.
There must (should) be a way of taking down the vile videos and comments on social media, does anyone have any ideas? RIP Jay and peace to the family.

I wonder how close he was to the road. Or whether he came off the road for whatever reason, he can't have had much of a clue where he was.

DollopOfFun · 15/07/2024 14:11

Poor kid. I hope he didn't suffer.

Yeah if he hadn’t and instead said something bad about Slater chances are they would have gone after him again.

If you want to take it that way I guess. I hope he didn't suffer.

davegrohll · 15/07/2024 14:18

@tsundoko are you actually saying he deserved to die and suffer?

No, I don’t think anyone deserves to suffer. Well maybe some but not generally.

oakleaffy · 15/07/2024 14:20

Lopine · 15/07/2024 14:03

Yes. Feeling sorry for his family.

I know the area and it is very challenging terrain without adding on the additional challenges that come with extreme heat and being ill equipped.

Absolutely- I don't know the terrain in person, but do know that it will be far worse than it looks online.
Depth and incline just cannot be accurately shown on 2D images, and it looks like there is a lot of loose rock that would be hard to gain traction on.

Going downhill is harder than uphill.

A friend's brother tragically lost his life on a family holiday many years ago he slipped and fell where footing wasn't 'solid'.

He too wasn't found immediately.

{Before internet}.

davegrohll · 15/07/2024 14:21

@tsundoko then what's with the sarcastic comments ? A young man bad that been found. Dead, he has a family. This could be your grandson, son, brother nephew etc

So why are you being such a dick on this thread then?

MaggieFS · 15/07/2024 14:21

It is ok, and within the realms of average brain capacity, to:

  • be appalled by his criminal activities
  • have hoped he was found safe and well
  • think that some of the decisions that led him going missing were, at best, unwise
  • have sympathy for his family, if it is him

It's not civilised to wish other people dead.

I simply don’t feel very sorry for him after his actions. Laughing in court. I feel sorry for his family.

They are probably one of the ones trolling the family on SM.

justasking111 · 15/07/2024 14:24

I live in north Wales. People fall off our mountains all the year round. A friend and his dogs are on the rescue team. It's terribly sad for all concerned.

davegrohll · 15/07/2024 14:24

@tsundoko if you felt sorry for his family you wouldn't be adding to the awful shit that's already been said on the internet, knowing they might well end up reading it one day.

Haven’t even looked at those pages whatever they are as it really doesn’t interest me. But I can have an opinion just like you, it’s on you if you can’t fathom that people doesn’t have to agree with you or feel the same way.

TaylorSwish · 15/07/2024 14:26

Billyballyboo · 15/07/2024 13:43

Not a surprise but at least his family will have closure. I still have more sympathy for the boy he attacked with a machete.

The victim was also violent and had committed other similar crimes.
