Keith Bennet's case was so horrific.

When his poor Mother eventually died, many probably thought ''At least she is now with her beloved son Keith in spirit''

Winnie {his Mother} wanted to keep Keith's memory in people's minds.

It would be a miracle if they could be found, and reunited with his Mother.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2012/jan/07/winnie-johnson-keith-bennett-moors-murders#:~:text=Keith%20disappeared%20four%20days%20after,in%20a%20frame%20above%20her.

Exactly... but I never compared Keith's and Jay's DEATHS I said I'm glad Jay's mom won't have to wait years n years to bury her son like poor Keith bennets mom... I'm strictly talking about giving a FUNERAL I'm not bother if you dont get what I'm saying. I meant thank god she's not waiting years to have her sons remains returned.

Thanks @oakleaffy

I think people should read this and maybe understand why the comparison is gratuitious.

What's gratuitous about saying (pretty much) it must be awful never knowing where a loved ones body is but at least one family now knows?

BowlOfNoodles · 15/07/2024 16:49

ImNotGivingAwayMyShot · 15/07/2024 16:44

Read to me as if the comparison was about family having closure, not that the cases were similar.
Doesn't matter who you are, if you're not absolutely devastated your child is missing no matter age or circumstances, there is something wrong with you.

Thank you Jay's at important to hes mom as Keith was to hes all I said was I'm glad she didn't stuffed years of torment being unable to plan a funeral. Didn't ever compare deaths and used Keith as an example of a missing remains as I know Britain knows him. I was saying she's luckily found him before years of torment.

YoghurtPotWashingMachine · 15/07/2024 16:49

@paywalled Give it a rest. Your faux outrage over the poster mentioning Keith Bennett is disrespectful.

Sillystrumpet · 15/07/2024 16:50

Good grief, can’t believe the thread has been hijacked to discuss keith bennet and someone even posting a link.

back to the thread, i think it’s good he’s been found, gives his parents closure, and it does look like it’s what his friend said. He slipped and died. A sad sad outcome, but hopefully it was quick and he didn’t suffer.

sparklywines · 15/07/2024 16:51

I have a son the same age and I just don't know how you even begin to process something like this.

When you have no choice you have no choice.

I knew what you meant and understood. I think with an emotive subject sometimes people get worked up, no fault of yours if they don't understand what you meant. I have two teenage boys and believe me I would be absolutely in bits even if they made a mistake. I love my children more than anyone on this planet, including my own parents.

Did your parents used to yell at you like this? Or someone else? It’s not on.

This was my first thought, hopefully it was a quick death. The thought of the poor lad lying there any length of time, hoping to be found, is a horrific one.

When he'd first gone missing, I speculated (nothing mean, but speculation nonetheless) on an earlier thread about the circumstances. I feel awful about that, lesson learnt, and it's not something I'll do again; his family have had to endure all this online speculation on top of their son being missing.

Makes me wonder, with Madeline McCann, she was probably somewhere nearby and never found. Just wandered off.

More likely to be Christian Brueckner. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Sadly, he may be freed next year.

Not sure why all the drama for a pp mentioning KB.
I knew what they meant.

There is no closure for a dead child as many on here will know. It doesn't leave you.

However, parents of missing (presumed dead) children are left in limbo. Indeed, in the press there have been families empathising with Jay's family who have still not found their relatives after they disappeared e.g. Ricky D'Cotta and Kevin Ainley.

Corrie McKeague's body was never found.
Ben Needham's body was never found.
Whilst there are suppositions as to what happened to them, their mums went through hell and back.

Peter Wilson's Mum talked of the shock of relief that after two years, they could at least bring him home.

Jack O'Sullivan is still missing.
A 77 year old man, Mike, is currently missing.

So although closure may be the wrong word, at least Jay's Mum will not be living in false hope. She won't be in limbo.

RIP Jay.
It is sad for all concerned.

Floatinginatincan · 15/07/2024 17:21

@ttsundoko -.I imagine they Will use the money to bring their son home where they can lay him to rest and some to keep them going while they take a min to recover from losing their son and having their family dragged through the mud by the media and online 'experts'.

Thank you! I seen the argumentative poster do similar to somebody else twisting what they said! Never ever did I compare the deaths there's zero comparison. If she's got anything else to say then 🫵🖕 plenty of lovely members got what I was saying x

Erm, brace yourselves. There is no way in hell the conspiracy brigade are going to back down. Within five minutes they'll all be on Tiktok/Instagram/insert vapid social media website of choice claiming his body has been planted there. They are fucking tiresome and relentless.

No, they'll move onto the next current thing to get views (and money) over.

Trump 'faking' the assasintion attempt seems to be the hot one atm.

The body has been found by the GREIM, the Guardia Civil mountain rescue team, which has been working tirelessly for weeks. It was reported here in the UK media that the Guardia Civil had stopped searching but this was not true. They had stopped the search by “normal” officers and had handed over to GREIM officers. Why the media was happy to report something that was untrue, no idea. Guess it fits the rethoric of “foreigners do not know how to do anything”

Thanks for explaining

lto2019 · 15/07/2024 17:28

BobbyBiscuits · 15/07/2024 13:45

I could not understand the mad conspiracies around it. Look at Michael Mosely. Same situation, got lost in the heat and collapsed. But the poor lads life was disected like he was some arch criminal or something.
At least they will have closure. So sad.

It is not the same situation at all. Michael Mosely a well respect Dr became ill in the heat and was found within a few days. The young lad has been missing a month after allegedly trying to walk an 11 hr walk and having been in the company of some pretty dodgy characters linked to drugs as well as accusations of theft and have been involved in criminal activity back home.
His family will at least get some closure - it must be terrible not knowing.

BobbyBiscuits · 15/07/2024 17:32

@lto2019 They had very different lifestyles thats for sure. But do you not just think the lesson that should be learned here is how dangerous it can be to be walking alone in a hot country and take a wrong turn? I honestly don't think there's anything more to his death than misadventure/accident. Same as the Moseley case. They both deserve sympathy.

Taxingtaxhelp · 15/07/2024 17:32

SSBBW · 15/07/2024 15:35

Will we ever know if he was thrown down this ravine vs fell. He was young and fit, doubt he'd have fell.

Young and fit people don't fall?!?!?

swimlyn · 15/07/2024 17:37

CandiedPrincess · 15/07/2024 13:55

LOL

I'm allowed to comment. It's not a conspiracy theory, no need to adjust my tin foil hat. Anyone who knows Tenerife, knows. Surely impossible to miss a body in the last bloody place he was known to be.

You clearly do NOT know Tenerife.

BobbyBiscuits · 15/07/2024 17:37

@Taxingtaxhelp Also I'd say if he'd not eaten for a couple days, nor slept, and had no water he'd not be 'fit and healthy'. After a couple of hours walking uphill in that heat you'd be delirious and weak as a newborn?! He'd never been abroad before, even experienced hikers and stuff consider that area to be hardcore.

MsNorburry · 15/07/2024 17:44

CandiedPrincess · 15/07/2024 13:51

Nah still something not right. Found the body near where he was last pinged? Seriously? The whole place is corrupt, the civil guard will be in on this.

Of course the guardia civil are not ''in on this''. They looked for him in an area that is full of loose rubble, full of rough plants, and steep with a gradient of .6 kilometre and cold at night
