I understood what you meant too @BowlOfNoodles

Thank you I appreciate that Keith was the first name I thought of as somebody's remains that hadn't been found plus with all the rumours about Jay her torment will of been insane I can just imagine you'd want the grieving process to start sooner rather than later x

Rizzola95 · 15/07/2024 16:27

TakeOnFlea · 15/07/2024 16:24

I completely disagree @Rizzola95

I think posters should take a beat and actually think about what they are writing when referring to such horrific and tragic cases on a public forum.

It's not comparable in the slightest

It was very clear what that poster meant and where she made her comparison.

TwixOwl · 15/07/2024 16:28

Makes me wonder, with Madeline McCann, she was probably somewhere nearby and never found. Just wandered off.

Absolutely, it is. It was quite clear what you meant the first time before you explained.

TakeOnFlea · 15/07/2024 16:29

"It was very clear what that poster meant and where she made her comparison."

It doesn't matter what she meant. It matters that what she wrote was completely insensitive and a totally inappropriate comparison.

Give her a break now will you. You’ve made your point. There is nothing more to explain.

It was a perfectly fine comparison, when the comparison was quite literally 'just' about the family not knowing where his body is for some sort of closure, if thats ever even possible.

It wasn't inappropriate or insensitive. The way it was misinterpreted was though.

Thank you was strictly about quickly finding remains vs waiting forever absolutely wasn't comparing Jay's death to Keith's. There's probably better examples but English isn't my first language and I was sure all the British people was familiar with Mrs Bennetts struggle to find Keith for burial. I've explained several times now and she get to fuck with the harassment lol.

Oh come on. Praia da Luz is a small, flat, tourist-friendly village. Had a three year old wandered off on their own accord, they would've been found sharpish. They aren't comparable.

Yeah there was absolutely nothing ill-natured behind her post.

It wasn't misinterpreted. Using the death of a child at the hands of a serial killer and his still unknown location as a comparison to someone who's body has just been found was gratuitious and unnecessary.

Rizzola95 · 15/07/2024 16:35

No worries @BowlOfNoodles it was clear to everyone what you meant but unfortunately some posters like to deliberately twist things to create outrage or offence.

Very bizzare isn't it? I'm not comparing nothing other than saying we've seen the pain waiting decades can cause.

I know the family had brought in a Dutch search team who started their search today. I wonder if it was them that found the body then alerted the Guarda Civil who sent the helicopter and removed the body.
I thought the Guarda Civil had stopped searching weeks ago but their statement said they've been continuously searching the whole time.

The body has been found by the GREIM, the Guardia Civil mountain rescue team, which has been working tirelessly for weeks. It was reported here in the UK media that the Guardia Civil had stopped searching but this was not true. They had stopped the search by “normal” officers and had handed over to GREIM officers. Why the media was happy to report something that was untrue, no idea. Guess it fits the rethoric of “foreigners do not know how to do anything”

@paywalled and this was exactly what I meant when I said the way it was misinterpreted was inappropriate. Thank you for quoting me to illustrate my point.

The poster wasn't doing that though. She was simply comparing the not knowing, as in at least Jay's family now know type thing.

I couidnt give less of a fuck what you think lol I said I'm glad it hasn't gone on for years ( like the torment Keith's mom went through ) I'm not talking about anything other than the need to bury remains ( I watched some of her interviews talking about wanting to give him a burial ) I wasn't talking about anything more than BURIAL.

Keith Bennet's case was so horrific.

When his poor Mother eventually died, many probably thought ''At least she is now with her beloved son Keith in spirit''

Winnie {his Mother} wanted to keep Keith's memory in people's minds.

It would be a miracle if they could be found, and reunited with his Mother.

Moors murders: 'Where is my Keith?'

Winnie Johnson's 12-year-old son was murdered by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in 1964. But his body was never found. Now nearing 80, she tells Melanie McFadyean why she never gave up the search for him and why time is running out

Yeah we know, it’s almost like some people want to interpret the wrong way so they can be angry or offended. You’ve explained yourself just fine. Noone wishes for anyone to go through something like this. If you do you are not human.

Exactly lol I'm not comparing the deaths after that's been explained twice you just know she's bord and craving keyboard warrior shit.

What's your beef here, seriously? Keith Bennett's body was never found, which caused a great deal of anguish for his poor mother throughout her life. Jay Slater's body has been found, which will relieve his mother of that anguish of the unknown. They aren't comparable beyond that fact, but that is still a valid comparison based on what that poster wrote.

Thanks @oakleaffy

I think people should read this and maybe understand why the comparison is gratuitious.

It is sad that his body has been found but not unexpected. Some the stories coming out were getting more and more daft. It sounds like he slipped with no water or phone and fell to his death. His background wasnt great and the things he did are shameful. The parents have closure now though. The example of Keith Bennet is shocking. Its NOTHING like that!!

Read to me as if the comparison was about family having closure, not that the cases were similar.
Doesn't matter who you are, if you're not absolutely devastated your child is missing no matter age or circumstances, there is something wrong with you.
