I wish I could have bottled that feeling of 1996 when the whole country went football mad, every other car and house on the road had flags and we were all sure it was coming home.

So do we think it's coming home?

Some predictions:

Someone will comment that it's past that 16 year old Spanish player's bedtime

England will have a goal disallowed due to offside

Now that we're good at penalties, it will not go to penalties

Jordan Pickford will be cross that he's expected to do his job

Oooh I remember sitting on my desk in history class watching England in 1996! The depth of belief was incredible and also, naive!!

Being a season ticket holder at Sheffield United i can safely say that England could play the worst they have done in 100 years tonight and I'll have still seen worse football than that this year!

I can't vote - I am a very superstitious football supporter and will believe that if I vote that it's coming home and it doesn't it will be my fault!

A weird thing happened last night (Saturday). About 9:30pm I remembered that the final was in progress (clearly our household has little interest in football 😂).
On my laptop, I clicked on the BBC website and found a link for the game. It showed England leading 1-0 with about 10 minutes to go.
About 15 minutes later I went back to it and refreshed - nothing there.
Tried on my phone. No update on the game either. I refreshed multiple times and was convinced my phone had frozen (it does sometimes).
I didn't see or hear any news bulletins until this morning, when I realised that the final hadn't been played yet!
Don't know what to make of it.
Just wanted to record this somewhere, in case that's how it turns out - you read it here first!

As an 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 supporter who has watched every minute of every game we have played in World Cups & European Championships since 1982, I’m hopeful but not optimistic.
Spain have looked comfortably the best team in this tournament since it started and are clear favourites for tonight.

My heart says England will win, possibly on penalties (ironically) but my head says 🇪🇸 2-1. I hope I’m wrong.

I do understand the hate, but when you've only ever heard about Sir Alf Ramsey and the 1966 World Cup win , it'll be so nice to hear about the 2024 one instead! Think of the programmes of celebrities and wags talking about it on channel five for years to come : it'll be so worth it if only because it'll be recent and give the country a boost
