Looks like some sort of injury to Trump, likely superficial.

The rally attendees I've saw being interviewed have said they thought it was fireworks or firecrackers, none of them thought it was gunfire.

I imagine the majority of people in America are just very, very frightened by this. America needs an intervention - third party involvement, mediation of some sort to bring peace and stability.

This is an extremely violent, white settler entity whose existence is based on the dehumanisation, massacre and ethnic cleaning of a Native people.

"Peace and stability"?...it wouldn't exist had there been peace and stability.

To quote an admiring Hitler in 1927, this white settler entity "gunned down the millions of Redskins to a few hundred thousand, and now keep the modest remnant under observation in a cage", so a shot being fired at a political event is child's play by comparison.

I posted recently on another thread about an incident I was involved in, in a US Mall 7 years ago, where there was absolute terror/mayhem after hearing about 12 “pops” of “gunshots”…there was a stampede, shops were locking down their shutters and people were running under the shutters as they were closing or throwing their kids through to get them to safety, people were injured in the stampede and someone had a heart attack. It wasn’t a gun, it was some idiot letting off firecrackers in the busiest part of the mall to deliberately scare people. I can see why the supporters might have assumed the same. They do sound similar.

Bloody hell the terror a parent must feel to throw their kids under closing shutters thinking it might be their last act and a desperate chance to save them from a shooter. How awful.

Nobody thinks it was set up apart from complete whack jobs

Where did the bullet go to?

WhatsUpNowThen · 14/07/2024 01:25

That’s the election won for him

I sincerely hope not

It's almost guaranteed now. A hero who has survived an assassination attempt whilst the crown chant USA as he walks away punching the air and bloodied, versus a poor old chap who needs looking after in a retirement village. Trump FTW!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 14/07/2024 01:27

Cuppapuppa · 14/07/2024 01:22

The fact that bullet appears to have come incredibly close to Trumps head as he turned it surely means it can’t be a set up as that timing would be incredibly hard to orchestrate?

I think it's very clear now that it isn't a set-up. One of the people at the rally has died and another is seriously injured. I understand that the gunman is dead as well.

PoopingAllTheWay · 14/07/2024 01:08

I did not say they get shot at every day!
I said shooting is a every day occurrence

There are 393 MILLION guns owed by the public in America

Edited

I am not sure what your angle is.

We all know Americans have guns and like to use them.

We also can say that most Americans are not used to shots being fired and that being the reason the “didn’t react”.

The facts are they did react, when they knew it was gunfire.

BruceWillissDribble · 14/07/2024 01:28

MaryEllenWaldron · 14/07/2024 01:26

Where did the bullet go to?

Past his head and into the distance, along with some that didnt. They're only small bullets not those great big things you see on Rambo.

Surely you have a line or standards somewhere for your own leader though? Refusing to accept national election results conducted by proper officials, calling a mob and actual criminal conviction?

So let’s say the Dems get voted out, which looks likely ,are you all going to start applying normal standards again or will there be the constant “But Biden..,” and using Trump appointed Supreme Court judges like Clarence Thomas to protect him? Thomas receives undeclared financial gifts himself from Billionaire donors, which I find incredible.

Assuming you are American I feel very sad for you all. Even if Trump wins, which looks likely, the polarisation is not going to stop. To the rest of us, it’s like watching your parents fight. Russia and China will absolutely be loving it.

For me they are both terrible choices. I just hate double standards and the vilification of one candidate against a sanctimonious one. Trump vs Biden.

Runnerinthenight · 14/07/2024 01:28

Why oh why can't the USA come up with credible candidates and not these two old men who both need to retire?!

Cuppapuppa · 14/07/2024 01:29

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves It never crossed my mind it was a set up but I was questioning those that think it is.

The political situation in America is awful. Toxic is too mild a word for what has constituted the presidential race. One can only hope this is a sobering moment, and the hateful nature (and neither side is better than the other - whether it be passive hate or overt, both have the same effect) ceases (sadly, I doubt it).

Well the Biden campaign is pulling all adverts... none of which tell anyone to assassinate Trump I presume.

MaryEllenWaldron · 14/07/2024 01:25

What's your source?

The fact that two people are reportedly dead is pretty indicative that it wasn't "fake".

Do you think it will shake him though? I don’t know after the adrenaline goes he will be able to stand in front of a crowd again multiple times and not be affected.

Abhannmor · 14/07/2024 01:31

roundsquares · 14/07/2024 01:01

You had to go back to January to get Trump’s last/notable “spoonerism” yet we only had to go back a day or two to get Biden’s? And then a day or two before that again?

Surely at this point you realise how ridiculous you sound?

Trump was talking minced drivel a few days ago ffs. The maga crowd looked embarrassed. They had literally no idea wtf he was on about.

But Trump's tenuous grip on reality is 'priced in' by the media. Nobody questions his competence since it is widely accepted that he has none. That's fine though because he is box office.

Nah, Trump is such a megalomaniac he'll remain convinced he's invincible.

Clarence Thomas was nominated for the SC by George HW Bush over 30 years ago, not Trump. He was appointed by a Senate vote as is the case with all SC judges. It was a controversial appointment, but you can’t blame Trump for him.

I doubt it. He has a total brass neck and he will exploit this to its fullest.

HangingOver · 14/07/2024 01:33

I'm surprised so many people think this is staged. Given how often nutcases with firearms kill innocent children in the States frankly I'm surprised it's taken this long for some loon to shoot at one of the most divisive loathsome people on earth.

If I was feeling massively over optimistic I’d hope that Trump will withdraw over personal safety concerns and Biden will be persuaded to stand down, and two new candidates will contest the election.

Looks fake, from him touching his ear (to release the capsule of fake blood) instead of flinching and crouching immediately, to not going to safety with the secret service, but standing up again to pump his fist. There are no depths this evil creature won't sink to. We know that already. He tried to stage a coup. Staging a fake assassination attempt is child's play next to that.

Amazing how his immediate impulse was elation!
Amazing the way he was instantly in full on victorious mode!

Cuppapuppa · 14/07/2024 01:37

The rallies will become tighter, more restricted etc but he will be fist pumping again soon.

5475878237NC · 14/07/2024 01:38

I find it ironic that the person who incited violence that led to someone's death in the January riots is now going to be reveered for surviving this. Everyone condemns violence against politicians except for him...and he's now the victim.

Trump has appointed two other SC judges who are similarly conservative and together with Clarence they are able to attain majority votes in a way that favours him. Clarence was always very conservative and so is his wife.

As I understand it presidents appoint SC judges when one of them dies of old age and the president who has the luck of a number of deaths on their watch can shape it to reinforce their agenda, even after the president has been voted out. If the particular president has a radical agenda this means checks and balances of democracy will be quite limited in scope.

The poor old can go. No one is forcing him or may he is a victim of elderly abuse if he is.
