Looks like some sort of injury to Trump, likely superficial.

Ah, looks like can't add photos... there are some very detailed ones on The Times now of him on the ground and extremely well covered - and looking very shaken.

Here in Australia, which is politically similar to the UK, the perpetrator of the recent mass stabbings was immediately shot by the first officer on the scene.

Why did he say let me get my shoes?! Is it protocol to remove ones shoes in an assassination attempt?

The political situation in America is awful. Toxic is too mild a word for what has constituted the presidential race. One can only hope this is a sobering moment, and the hateful nature (and neither side is better than the other - whether it be passive hate or overt, both have the same effect) ceases (sadly, I doubt it).

And now I’m thinking about this again. I don’t think it can be a .22 rifle because those (or the ones I have seen - which isn’t many mind) are single load at a time.

There’s a few shots there in succession so I’m going to go with a semi automatic with .22 bullets as my final guess.

The witnesses are saying that the shooter had a rifle. They are also saying that the secret service or police who shot the gunman were also on roofs.

@PoopingAllTheWay I never said they ran away. You claimed they didn’t move but some certainly ducked. Presumably as the shooter was taken out pretty quickly there was less of a need to run & some would still be processing what is going on. And as I said before I wouldn’t extrapolate the behaviour of people at a Trump rally to the whole of America.

Eye witness called Joseph on CNN now. Saw one man shot in the head and killed immediately and a woman shot in the hand. Said he thinks some of the crowd may have thought it was firecrackers going off, but he knew it was gunfire because of what he saw. He’s a very measured individual saying some really reasonable stuff about how zero sum politics needs to stop, and clearly very upset.

A random mother carrying like you describe is done out of fear. Trust me, anyone that fearful isn’t just “oh hey ya’ll, there guns!” when unexpected shots are fired.
