The level of delusion is frightening. Thank God we’re rid of them.

EXCLUSIVE @Telegraph: Liz Truss has blamed the scale of the Conservatives’ general election defeat on a decision by Rishi Sunak to “trash my record”

Ummmmm. Grin

😂
Omg. Narcissism off the scale

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2024 22:53

49 days and the party had to step in to make it stop - but the problem is everyone else.
Freely admit I have had a glass of wine and now I love the art of it. Anti growth tofu eating Blob rule. Whoop.

Don't think I'm be only one on the sauce 😉

Big name former Tory MP at the opera tonight, eight days after losing her seat, looking desiccated. And given what we’re about to watch, I can’t help but think “è avanti a lei, tremava tutta Roma!”

(Must stress I am not desiccated)

Late check in from Glasgowshire. Grumpily as it won't stay dry long enough to finish painting my shed

IClaudine · 13/07/2024 23:42

Crickey. Shots allegedly fired at Trump rally. The footage I saw looked as though he had blood on his ear as he was hustled off stage,

IClaudine · 14/07/2024 00:01

It sounds like an air gun?

Not good whatever it was. This will stir things up.

Evenstar · 14/07/2024 00:14

@IClaudine there were apparently people there that said they thought it was an air gun sound.
The whole situation in America is very concerning without this being added to the mix.

IClaudine · 14/07/2024 00:20

Obviously I am not a Trump fan, but bloody hell this image is an absolute gift to his campaign.

Apparently someone is dead. possibly the shooter.

I read a novel years ago about a nominee being shot superficially at a presidential rally. It turned out to have been organised by a member of their team to garner support.

With all the guns available in America, why go for an air gun? Klaxon- conspiracy theory.

I don't condome shooting people you don't like, just before I get jumped on.

If it was an air gun someone in the audience was killed??

cardibach · 14/07/2024 01:11

I don’t want to go all conspiracy theorist, but 8-10 shots (apparently) and nobody behind him reacts? Nobody else hit?

L1ttledrummergirl · 14/07/2024 01:12

I'd only read Claudia's post when I commented and it was a bit flippat, it's desperately sad that people have died.

Yes, seems it was not an air gun. Never come to me for a ballistics report!

medianewbie · 14/07/2024 05:17

Not good for America at all.

itsgettingweird · 14/07/2024 07:13

Was not the news I was expecting to wake up to.

As much as I hate him and what he says and does NOONE deserves that in politics.

We have a democratic vote.

A 20yo man has been named.

If you thought there was a mad gunman after you would you react like that? That's very weird. Trump is weird, though.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/07/2024 07:29

Just to confirm I am neither advocating violence nor wishing Trump to die at the end of a gun BUT...
As a thought experiment, had Trump been killed last night - would the election in the US have resulted in a less extreme (and more competent) Republican president with a potentially better outcome for the future?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 14/07/2024 07:33

There are reports (BBC) of two dead (including the gunman) and several injured at the rally.

Zonder · 14/07/2024 07:41

Wow. Reading on here and twitter I feel like we will never really know what happened in this shooting.

NoDishiForRishi · 14/07/2024 08:02

What news to wake up to.

Obviously, I am glad he is alright, as much as I dislike the man I don't want him dead and I am desperately sorry for those injured and killed but I can't shake this horrid sinking feeling that today, is the day he became president.

itsgettingweird · 14/07/2024 08:09

Zonder · 14/07/2024 07:41

Wow. Reading on here and twitter I feel like we will never really know what happened in this shooting.

And the devastating thing is that in the midst of this travesty Trump will use the not knowing the truth to his advantage and his extreme supporters will lap it up.

And they say no good can come of bad

prettybird · 14/07/2024 08:27

It's very convenient that the shooter was killed so we will never truly know his motivation Hmm or if he was put up to it Hmm

Such a young man and a Republican at that Confused

A serious assassination attempt from a roof nearby would involved the sniper being there and ready hours (if not a day) in advance, not "crawling across the roof" just beforehand Hmm

Zonder · 14/07/2024 08:28

@NoDishiForRishi I feel the same. And yet there are so many rumours out there that it was staged, and that the shooter was a republican.

So true @itsgettingweird
