Solar is probably the quickest way to get energy. Quick'n'clean.

If the UK is serious then rather than looking at filthy chemical batteries ...

Which is the storage equivalent. Quick. Clean. And flexible in terms of siting (unlike using reservoirs).

Tugendhat jumped on the bandwagon as well

Has anyone seen the pictures of the Ambani wedding? With guests Tony and Cherie Blair and also apparently Boris Johnson? Quite an amazing looking event!!

I had no idea about this wedding, celebrations started in March Shock

He was the one that never wanted to be an MP I seem to remember. I don’t think it will be long before there’s a by election somehow.

Meanwhile, Suella B. is undoing all the right wing medias work to blame Labour with a single interview.

More of this please. Top Tories admitting to the public they fucked it up and taking the blame off Labour.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/suella-braverman-tory-leadership-prisons-b2578856.html

I think she's had to do that in order to put some concrete things in her leadership pitch.

Pretty hilarious when she was home secretary though. Deep state nonsense incoming 😂

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2024 11:05

But surprised by the number of Tories complaining that the prison service was fine when they left it. This is all a fuss about nothing.

It's been at capacity for 18 months. They've been letting prisoners out for months. Nobody thought it was fine.

Sometimes I think they think we can't see or hear them, or remember stuff.

SerendipityJane · 13/07/2024 09:20

Interesting. Remember when the Tories ignored tradition and precedence ?

Turns out they don't like it up 'em

I hope so.

medianewbie · 13/07/2024 11:29

@prettybird Thank you for the info about 'Who owns Scotland'. I shall make a point of watching that.
I think the Tory squabbling re the new leader is pretty unedifying but agree the more they publicly blame each other the better. I'm enjoying seeing KS looking confident & more relaxed now. He did well during the Nato summit I thought, despite Rigby needling him.

Thanks to those who have asked about my Ds (hopefully my usual username for this post as I'm on my phone)
Ds is home 1 week now. Still VERY tired & also quite shaken by it all I think. We were given 4 weeks meds & discharge letter says we'll be reviewed 'when MRI available' (hospital said only 1 person in county who can read Cardiac MRI & is currently off sick) I'm going to leave it 1 more week then start phoning as Ds is due to move over 3hrs away (by train, I don't drive) to Uni early Sept.
Given he's Autistic & not very independent I was already a bit worried but now both he & I would like to see a clear MRI first. We've a few weeks but accommodation needs paying end July so it's getting a bit tight for time already.
Hoping to get some refund for holiday (not all unfortunately) but GP says 'up to 3m' & £95 to sign form, (grrr) We live opposite health centre so walk past GP daily (our dog walk coincides with his sandwich run!) Not a word which I've found stupidly upsetting. Both Ds & Dd have been more upset by lack of contact by their Father (local, retired, turned up once for 30m last week). Our Divorce is nearly through (& I'm not surprised) but it's upsetting for them.
Sorry, that was a bit long! Thanks for asking x

Piggywaspushed · 13/07/2024 11:34

That all sounds so very stressful. Hope things work out , and soon.

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2024 11:38

Oh my goodness medianewbie - shocking that you have to wait like this. Horrifying. Of course you would want to see a clear MRI first. The doctors should want to see a clear MRI first. And this shouldn't be your worry to carry alone.
I don't know what to say but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for you.

(Can I now admit that I really couldn't keep up with all the name changes and basically have had no idea who I've been responding to for days 😆)

I got his name wrong, it's McMurdock

Bylines time has an article on him and his failed businesses and CV boasts

prettybird · 13/07/2024 12:00

You should be able to watch both episodes on iplayer now @medianewbie as it was apparently first shown in 2021 (i looked up when it was made, out of interest).

It's ShockShockShock that they haven't arranged cover for the specialist who is off ill Angry How long is he going to be off? Hmm

I think I know which General Hospital you were at. They should be organising for at the very least, review by specialists at one of the big central belt hospitals Sad

I'm currently having a "discussion" with ds who, as of yesterday, still hadn't sorted out travel insurance Hmm I found this out on Thursday when he was asking about his GHIC card which he's lost and was hoping was still here it wasn't Hmm He leaves on Sunday Shock I may have used an outline of your circumstances to make the point about the importance of insurance Wink

He and his girlfriend booked this months ago Hmm

Glad it’s not just me. I hope things improve soon @medianewbie (whoever you were!), it all sounds like a lot of unnecessary stress and your GP sounds useless. I hope the NHS reform includes minimum standards for primary care.

L1ttledrummergirl · 13/07/2024 13:03

Me either. @medianewbie if your son is at uni anywhere near me, drop me a pm, just in case you want someone localish quickly.

I presume Hilary Benn will also be promoting his attendance at Republican marches Hmm, seeings as the UK Government has said that it wants to work for everyone, including those that didn't vote for it (which is indeed commendable) and NI now has equal numbers of Unionist and Republican/Reunifation/non-Sectarian MPs Hmm

https://x.com/niogov/status/1811770663058784580?s=48

For the record, living in the West of Scotland, I hate "Marching Season" and sectarianism on both sides Angry

Median sounds scary. I'm not surprised you want some answers. We all would. Did they give you any diagnosis whilst there or are you still waiting for any info? (You don't have to share any actual medical diagnosis just wondering if you had one).

My Ds is autistic too so I share that worry about the independence because he's his own worst advocate and if someone says "3 weeks" he'd just wait because that's what they've said rather than be concerned about it being 3 weeks.

medianewbie · 13/07/2024 14:31

@itsgettingweird dx of Myocarditis ('probable post viral') He had LVSD for a few days too (his left ventricle was pumping at less than 40% capacity as his heart muscle was so inflamed. His Triponin level (should be around 20, kept doubling & peaked at 5,555). He's having bad dreams about heart attacks/ surgery each night. As he's Autistic & also dx Clinical Anxiety I think I'm going to write to say its a reasonable adjustment for him to have F2F appointment (me in tow) to have his MRI results explained within 2wks.
Of course that should be standard for everyone. Bloody Tories, starving the NHS for years Angry

itsgettingweird · 13/07/2024 14:42

Yes I think he should have F2F. I totally get that need for facts as it's how my ds manages his anxiety too.

HannibalHeyes · 13/07/2024 16:18

King of Cats much more relaxed about this government...
