DS sent me this 🤣 click to see the comment above

I saw a comment on the same picture that was something along the lines of...

"No, that's not what I meant when I said send a sex-mad blonde to my room "

(Guess it works for either room occupant.)

Spandauer · 17/07/2024 13:30

Oh soz! Just saw you included the comment!

(note to self - read both sides of the exam paper)

Spandauer · 17/07/2024 13:35

Also liking the King's Speech. It's great to feel and have hope for the next few years. But I'm under no illusions that there won't be something unpredicted and/or unpleasant around the corner.

Spandauer · 17/07/2024 13:38

Liz Truss not a fan. Maybe it's jet lag?
(not an MP either)

BIWI · 17/07/2024 13:39

Oh fuck off Liz Truss.

cardibach · 17/07/2024 14:01

Unconservative you say, Liz?
Thank fuck for that.

newnamethanks · 17/07/2024 14:09

She's a tad self-important isn't she? Even Reform wouldn't have her in her current state. As the very pissed off exMP for Bournemouth said the other day, she's possibly not very well.

Notonthestairs · 17/07/2024 14:16

Not sure she is in a position to complain about "unelected state".

I don't think she's unwell. I think her beliefs are just feathers in the wind.

prettybird · 17/07/2024 14:28

• Giving more powers to a failed OBR

The only reason she says it's "failed" is because she couldn't force it to give the figures and analysis that she wanted it to Hmm

• Reintroducing Stalinist housing targets rather than a zoning system

...or "Reduce the opportunities for landlords to exploit the little people and for NIMBY's to protect their privileged enclaves"

• More government involvement in rail and energy, driving up costs

...or, reducing private sector profiteering and their ability to print money. Developing an integrated transport policy that will benefit the country as a whole. Stopping (or at least sharing in) windfall profits from energy price increases. Remember too that the East Coast Main Line was twice taken back into public ownership, returned to profitability/acceptable operation and then returned to private ownership Confused

• A conversion therapy ban that will be misused by gender ideologues

So is she for or against it? Confused So should something that is potentially dangeous for young people not be stopped because people with an agenda (who aren't even the ones undergoing it) might be unhappy? Hmm

• a counterproductive and unconservative smoking ban

Remind me again which party in government first proposed a phased ban on selling cigarettes to young people to stop them ever smoking? Confused

The result of these policies will be further economic stagnation and cultural decline

Well, I suppose she is admitting that under the Conservatives, the UK was experiencing economic stagnation and cultural decline. Wink

Truss is living in cloud cuckoo land Easter Grin

SerendipityJane · 17/07/2024 14:56

Imagine being Liz Truss, and not knowing an entire nations is saying "fuck off" when you appear anywhere.

BIWI · 17/07/2024 15:00

It's like the opposite of clapping to show that we believe in fairies to keep Tinkerbell alive!

BustingBaoBun · 17/07/2024 15:53

Hope it's OK if I join in! Listened to King's Speech with hope, and I haven't felt that for a very long time. I think it's going to be an upwards battle but hope is a wonderful thing.

It was good to see Starmer, Sunak, Dowden and Angela Rayner having a laugh and a joke after all the pomp today... shows they are all human but I've never been more glad to see the back of a political party!

I know about the cat tax and of course will pay it, although it is my DDs cat, one eyed from a rescue centre that her and her partner absolutely dote on and treat like a naughty tweenager and he runs rings round them!

Is that the Torygraph actually putting a positive spin on something that Labour are doing? (Can't read the item as it's behind a paywall)

A fortnight in and this government is looking very capable with a PM who appears more confident by the day.

Really does, I feel as though I can breathe a little easier now it’s been a very long time since a government spoke some sense, the photos posted on the thread today have really made me laugh & Yy really quite heartwarming seeing the easy chat & good humour between the Tories & Labour.

SerendipityJane · 17/07/2024 17:53

One of the most amazing photographs in news I have ever seen was Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley sharing a joke as they were walking out of Stormont. It wasn't a posed cheesy pic, but just snapped at random.

DuncinToffee · 17/07/2024 18:21

Priti Patel marking her place for Tory leader

https://x.com/implausibleblog/status/1813621119485878568👀

Priti Patel says that Labour should acknowledge the Conservatives record which includes
- 800 jobs a day on average
- fastest economic growth
- cutting taxes on fuel
- more doctors and nurses
- more teachers
- schools raising standards
- more police officers

Ummm 👀

Notonthestairs · 17/07/2024 18:36

20,000 police officers were lost to austerity between 2010-2019.

They then recruited 21,000 less experienced officers.

So yes the numbers have increased from a low base.

The numbers haven't even kept pace with population growth.

DuncinToffee · 17/07/2024 19:06

Maths clearly isn't Patel's strong point

Saucery · 17/07/2024 19:08

What a nice exchange between Starmer and Sunak today! The latter looks like a huge weight has been taken off his shoulders. He went on to talk a load of bollocks but old habits die hard.

Agree.

And I'm more reassured by the desperate Torygraph bollocks printed daily that they know he's good - so are scrabbling around for tit bits!

I bet journos are probably bored of not having a daily drama to write about 😂
