Anyone else who doesn’t give two shits about football?

I don’t care about any sports. To me it’s a load of overpaid tossers kicking a ball. That’s it.

I don’t have sports cos it’s cool. I just hate it especially since it was my dad’s entire identity and remember being dragged to the pub on multiple occasions so he can “watch the footy and have a pint”. Boring

Facebook is all “it’s coming home” blah blah blah.

I. Don’t. Care.

Fun sponge 😂

Shybutrude · 11/07/2024 20:55

🙌 I don't care either!

EveryKneeShallBow · 11/07/2024 20:56

Well, me, but I don’t begrudge people being happy if they like. Likewise the tennis, F1, and on and on. Doesn’t really affect me.

MissyB1 · 11/07/2024 20:58

Can't be bothered with football at all, find it incredibly boring. I quite enjoy rugby though.

HoppityBun · 11/07/2024 20:58

I’m not interested but I wish them well and I’ll be pleased for Gareth Southgate if they win. Which I don’t think likely. I don’t have a TV - I like tournaments like this that go on a few weeks because the swimming pool is nearly empty when there’s a match on

Topoftheflops · 11/07/2024 21:00

DD said on Wednesday, mum I thought you hated football? Me: yes but not the big matches or when England play.

25thCenturyQuaker · 11/07/2024 21:01

Me! I don't give the ghost of a shit, and luckily neither does my husband. I knew there was a good reason I married him.

RabbitsRock · 11/07/2024 21:02

I don’t watch football usually but do enjoy the England matches. Quite enjoy the women’s Internationals too

No I don’t begrudge people enjoying, just when it impacts me.

I’m not remotely interested in football or horse racing or rugby or cycling or snooker, but I accept that it’s important to other people.

tillyandmilly · 11/07/2024 21:04

Agree with you - some overpaid bunch of men kicking a ball around a field! couldn’t care less! However like Wimbledon match will be glued to it Sunday

YouveGotAFastCar · 11/07/2024 21:05

Why is it impacting on you?

This is the wrong thread for me, I love sports, but I'd hope that you could limit the impact on your life.

lawnseed · 11/07/2024 21:05

I definitely do not like football. If I had to be with a person who followed the football I would run away very quickly and hide in a shrubbery and remain there.

It doesn’t now; as my dh doesn’t like football either. But as a child it affected me all the time. Every week I was dragged to the pub so dad could watch his footy. If I wanted to watch a certain program as a kid, nope the footy was on and was major important.

Funnily enough me and my dad were never close and we don’t speak now

Im not into football either. Although, living next to a pub means I have an idea when England is playing and how well they do.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 11/07/2024 21:14

Nor me, if you really want something with skill you should watch 'Tipping Point'
It's got brutal questioning,
complex tactics,
elimination of contestants,
cliff hanging tension,
an element of humour,
and that smartly dressed Ben Sheppard.

And there are frequent advertising breaks when you can pop to the loo and/or put the kettle on.

theeyeofdoe · 11/07/2024 21:16

I like horse racing as I can have a vested interest in the outcome.
really interested in watching the kids/my nephews/people I know playing sport.
no interest in watching any other random kicking a ball around & spitting.

grafittiartist · 11/07/2024 21:24

Couldn't care less here.
It's not just the game- but the endless analysis- so much energy on one sport.

I don’t agree with horse or dog racing

Some of them are raced to death. Some of them are treated cruelly. Yes some are treated like Kings and Queens but some aren’t

I could not be less interested if I tried. In fact I took a nap while Dh and DD1 shouted at the tv! Grin(Dh only watches the 'big' matches thank heavens!)

Pebbles16 · 11/07/2024 21:28

Good job we are all different.
I love sports and watching athletes perform well.
Can't be arsed with cake and Bake Off seems like a big waste of space to me

mynameiscalypso · 11/07/2024 21:29

The Premier League contributes about £8bn a year to the UK economy. Sport as a whole contributes about £18bn. I understand why people might not like it as a game but it's a big net contributor to the public purse. And success = more money.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 11/07/2024 21:29

I hate football, its just so dull. Dw will watch it as England are in final but otherwise she isn't bothered.

I'll probably take the opportunity of very quiet roads to take learner driver DC for some practice.

We dont go this bonkers for other sports that English players get to the finals of!

Sethera · 11/07/2024 21:33

Not bothered at all, never watch it and fortunately I have a football-indifferent DH. I don't begrudge others' enjoyment of it.

TwinCheeks · 11/07/2024 21:36

Bor-ing. Watching boys prance about falling over for being looked at the wrong way while crowds of grown men act as if it actually means anything with the associated obscenities and loutishness.
