Anyone else who doesn’t give two shits about football?

I don’t care about any sports. To me it’s a load of overpaid tossers kicking a ball. That’s it.

I don’t have sports cos it’s cool. I just hate it especially since it was my dad’s entire identity and remember being dragged to the pub on multiple occasions so he can “watch the footy and have a pint”. Boring

Facebook is all “it’s coming home” blah blah blah.

I. Don’t. Care.

I don't care I'm not English and honestly you would think it was The UK playing on Sunday. The news had it as a leading story and then went on to talk about a triple murder. After they had spoken to "Darren" who had booked flights to Berlin! Obviously more important I know it probably looks like I'm just a fun sponge or have sour grapes, but it's bloody football calm down!

cakewitch · 11/07/2024 21:39

Me neither.. I cannot bring myself to give a shiney shite about it. Am happy that DH is excited about it all, but that's all.

User135644 · 11/07/2024 21:39

It's an awful game played by money grabbing cheats and watched by foul mouthed men.

TempsPerdu · 11/07/2024 21:40

I don’t mind the actual game of football although I don’t really follow it, and DH actively hates it having being mercilessly bullied for being rubbish at it as a kid. We’re both having to feign some degree of interest in the Euros as DD6 actually really likes football, plays it herself and we want to encourage her in this (I prefer the culture around women’s football to men’s anyway).

What I do really dislike is the ridiculous hype and the lack of consistency of it all - media and public alike spending most of the tournament slagging England off for supposedly being a bit crap and then suddenly flipping into OTT hero worshipping mode now they’ve progressed.

DD’s school has already held a special non-uniform day for getting into the semi-finals, so I dread to think what they’ll do it we actually win. I just find it all so excessive and hyperbolic, when really it’s just some massively overpaid blokes kicking a ball around some grass.

I like horse racing as I can have a vested interest in the outcome.
really interested in watching the kids/my nephews/people I know playing sport.
no interest in watching any other random kicking a ball around & spitting.

I have an absolutely no interest in horse racing but I’m not sure I’d be sneery about it and say it’s just some randoms whipping poor animals…

A lot of women watch football. 30% of the audience in the Premier League are women.

Amch · 11/07/2024 21:45

I don’t care unless it’s something like the world cup or euros as I do quite like the coming together of it. Otherwise I couldn’t care less and feel so angry at the amount that they get paid.

Alwaystired23 · 11/07/2024 21:45

I couldn't give two hoots about football.

socks1107 · 11/07/2024 21:47

I am not bothered either. I shall enjoy my Sunday night swim probably in total peace!
It was the third wheel in my first marriage and drove me to despair, absolutely every day revolved around it

Lovemybunnies · 11/07/2024 21:50

Me. I despise football. It’s all about money and many ( not all) of the footballers treat women like dirt.

delilabell · 11/07/2024 21:51

I hate it. I hate the shouting and screaming. I hate the people who now we're in the final turn into football fans. The aggression fans show to other countries. The way footballers are hero worshipped. How it affects other TV programmes. Bloody vindaloo song.

TakeOnFlea · 11/07/2024 21:53

Vindaloooo 🤣

OhMehGoddess · 11/07/2024 21:57

Have no interest at all. Neither has my husband.
There has never been a game on in our house and we have never watched a game at friends either.

Lots of other things to watch and life is blissfully quiet.

delilabell · 11/07/2024 21:58

Don't make me angry @TakeOnFlea 🍛🥵⚽️🎵😡🤣

lavenderlou · 11/07/2024 21:59

Me, used to watch but now just find it tedious. DH and DC will be watching so I will enjoy some alone time elsewhere.

25thCenturyQuaker · 11/07/2024 21:01

Me! I don't give the ghost of a shit, and luckily neither does my husband. I knew there was a good reason I married him.

Same here. I really don't think I could have married a football fan 😂

TakeOnFlea · 11/07/2024 22:03

Soz @delilabell

It's coming home now how my comment might sting. Like 30 years of hurt, or is it 60 now? 🤔 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Vindaloooo 🤣

I've never known what vindaloo has to do with football! It's a kind of curry isn't it? Please explain!

Runnerinthenight · 11/07/2024 22:05

Can't stand football. I'm loving the tennis atm though!

TakeOnFlea · 11/07/2024 22:06

It's just a parody of football chants and the "football hooligans" of the 90s.

And we all love vindalooooo 🤣

missshilling · 11/07/2024 22:06

I have zero interest in football. My husband is the same.

Neither of us hate it though. It’s obvious that lots of other people enjoy it.

Oldfatandfrumpy · 11/07/2024 22:15

Me! My husband keeps trying to get me to the pub to watch it, but it's soooooo fucking tedious I can't bring myself to go

Absolutely love football
Have a LFC season ticket
I most certainly am not a foul mouthed man

It's sweet Caroline for me. Fuck that song

Cooper77 · 11/07/2024 22:20

Personally, I hate all sport. All of it - tennis, football, everything. Actually, I do quite like the sight of cricket players dressed in white on a sunlit village green. But I like it in the same way I like looking at flowers and trees.

I don’t care though. If sport makes people happy, then great.
