If your car was broken into RIGHT NOW what could they steal?

For me, a half finished box of Mr Kipling Bakewell tarts

An old coat from Sainsbury’s

A bottle of factor 50 sun cream

Pass it on!

On a serious note, a reminder not to leave any valuables in the car. So many break ins in my area!

3 "Pri-robes"
3 golf umbrellas
broken AirPods case
many charging cables
squashed box of tissues
basket of ironing I put in there during house viewing and forgot about.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 11/07/2024 13:45

CDs
Tyre pump
Engine oil
Blankets
Tissues
The detritus from our last trip to McDonald's

SoundTheSirens · 11/07/2024 13:50

My sunglasses, a couple of in-car phone chargers, some packs of tissues, a couple of chamois cloths, locking wheel nut, a £1 coin in case I need it for shopping trolleys and a half-empty bottle of water.

My car is about the only thing I keep reasonably tidy.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/07/2024 13:50

Two footballs, a basketball, cricket bat, stumps, tennis racquets, tennis balls, frisbees, crocs, ponchos, a ball pump, a folding chair, a golf umbrella, the most useless satnav in the world, several happy meal Mr men squishies, half a bag of mint humbugs, an assortment of low back booster seats, and a little tree air freshener with no smell left in it.

Oh and a first aid kit with the silver blanket and all the plasters gone.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/07/2024 13:50

If just the car, they will get a shit-load of chocolate wrappers, lol, some chewing gum and not much else. If they got into the boot they would access the heady delights of blankets, bowls, seatbelts and various other dog paraphernalia, lol; and my ‘travel kit’ (first aid kit, water bottle, pain killers, a blanket, a jacket and boots, sanitiser, umbrella). So utterly boring compared to some on here, lol!

user1497787065 · 11/07/2024 13:51

Poo bags and tissues

GoingRoundInTriangularCircles · 11/07/2024 13:52

2 car seats
Shopping bags
Baby wipes

Tupperwarefan · 11/07/2024 13:53

Lipsalve, hand cream, hair brush, pen, notepad, clear pencil case (stuffed) and a v nice tartan blanket

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 11/07/2024 13:54

Lol. Back in the last century when I dealt with motor claims, every car that was broken into had
A leather jacket
A pair of Ray bans and
10 CDs

Aspierational · 11/07/2024 13:55

Old CDs, a packet of oatcakes, a blanket, some wellies, the manual, a crappy phone charger.

RatherBeRiding · 11/07/2024 13:56

Pair of wellies, pair of riding boots, riding hat, hi-vis gilet, couple of dog beds, a ride on (horse) fly sheet, a bag and a half of horse treats, pair of sunglasses, tyre inflator, roll of heavy duty adhesive tape last used to keep frog support on laminitic pony (if you know, you know!) and probably, somewhere, a half used bottle of equine fly spray.

RabbitsRock · 11/07/2024 14:01

Bags for Life
Giant rainbow umbrella
A bag of CDs (mostly classical)
Cardboard box full of miniature cottages, churches etc. Got them for a song & really need to sell them on!
My coat
My works fleece
Screenwash

RabbitsRock · 11/07/2024 14:01

Oh & my speakers but they’re pretty rubbish!

Eviebeans · 11/07/2024 14:03

Gum, mints, walking shoes, screen wash
bag for charity shop, change for car park
bags for life - loads of them!

Tarkan · 11/07/2024 14:05

I don't drive but DH's car they'd probably get a whole bunch of empty Pepsi Max bottles because he always seems to leave them on the passenger seat when I haven't been in the car. In the boot they might get a few cans of Pepsi Max and some jump leads.

They'd also get a lot of dog hair (DDog is moulting right now) and a doggy seat belt in the back seat.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 11/07/2024 14:12

One of them packs that has road emergency essentials like triangle etc, A large tarpaulin as I went to the tip this morning. Two dog bowls, big bottle of water, dog poo bags, a hairy dog blanket and cushions, £1 coins x 4 or 5, several bag for life's, a uk map book 2022 I think.

libertybonds · 11/07/2024 14:18

Crumbs
Children's umbrella
Two car seats
Plastic bags (useful for both vomiting on a roadtrip and absconding with personal property)
1/2 a granola bar
Automatic pump for my dodgy tyres
More crumbs

prescribingmum · 11/07/2024 14:18

An assortment of cheap plastic sunglasses
Trolley coins in £ and €
Costco membership card
Collection of bags for life
Childrens notebooks, colouring pencils, crayons etc
Dirty tissues and food wrappers
Gym gloves (if that’s what they’re called?!)

When our car was broken into a few years back, they ignored the £1500 pushchair and just stole the parcel shelf plus a few chocolates

daffodilandtulip · 11/07/2024 14:18

Absolutely shit loads.

Shit being the operative word.

Hopebridge · 11/07/2024 14:20

Chewing gum, first aid kit, football and a picnic blanket....

darksigns · 11/07/2024 14:21

I’m currently sat in it, so that could be interesting. Short of kidnapping me they could have an old road map, tissues, loose change and the remains of a packet of mints. The boot has just been emptied of crap prior to MOT so it’s slim pickings.

NewName24 · 11/07/2024 14:23

Heelworkhero · 11/07/2024 00:19

My purse with about £300 cash. I always keep it in the car, otherwise it’s constantly lost!!!

Shock

I'm guessing it is people like you that make it worthwhile for the people that break into and rifle through cars night after night.

sockarefootwear · 11/07/2024 14:27

DS's PE kit
Windscreen washer fluid
Old towel (for the dog)
Half a pack of mints
2 x bags for life
Old jumper

The only thing that would actually cost much to replace is the PE kit, but I suspect DS would be pleased to have the excuse to miss PE until we can sort a new one!

I WFH so my car spends most of the time on my drive way. It's an old small not at all fast car with only the above inside. I have an overly protective rescue dog that barks like mad if anyone steps foot on our driveway. All my neighbours have nice, shiny, new, fast cars and no dog so I am very doubtful that anyone would bother with mine.

emmetgirl · 11/07/2024 14:28

A few snotty old tissues and a couple of empty Diet Coke cans

Roundaboot · 11/07/2024 14:28

The manual
Air freshener
Lip balm
Phone charger and plug for the cigarette lighter
About £5 in loose change
A box containing oil, water and anti-freeze in the boot
A device for cutting a seatbelt and smashing windows (always kept in driver side glove compartment)
Spare sunglasses

I've only had the car about 6 months so I'm trying to keep it minimal and tidy. I'm succeeding so far, though I do keep meaning to stick some shopping bags in.
