If your car was broken into RIGHT NOW what could they steal?

For me, a half finished box of Mr Kipling Bakewell tarts

An old coat from Sainsbury’s

A bottle of factor 50 sun cream

Pass it on!

On a serious note, a reminder not to leave any valuables in the car. So many break ins in my area!

Very crumpled 2021 motoring atlas of Great Britain. 2018 A-Z of London. Petrol can, never used.

garlictwist · 11/07/2024 00:05

A bag of wood for the pizza oven. Two stolen ikea bags I use for shopping and a very expensive sleeping bag that's been in the boot since we broke down on the top of the m62 in winter and I nearly died of hypothermia waiting for the AA.

Andthereitis · 11/07/2024 00:06

Half a bag of mixed mints, most of a bag of mint imperials and then half a bag of humbugs.

My mum's car got broken into years ago and they took the 2p piece that held the glove box closed! My current car is full of fluff, old cardboard boxes and half eaten bags of sweets (they weren't very nice).

spikeandbuffy · 11/07/2024 00:12

Seasalt plant hunter coat
Pair of long riding boots
Work polo shirts
Changing robe
About 50 CDs Grin
£1 (for the Aldi trolley)
Screen wash
Ice scraper
Woolly hat

I had it valeted so there isn't loads of crap in there for once, otherwise you could usually probably live in there happily for a week

spikeandbuffy · 11/07/2024 00:14

Oh an umbrella, a dog lead, dog treats, polo mints and a headcollar
I don't have a dog or a horse now but I've had to catch loose ones before...

Iffx · 11/07/2024 00:15

Dog crate
Dog seat belt
Assorted ancient CDs
Dog poo bags
Bags for life
Assorted dog leads
Muddy and stinky coat and boots x 2

Sandy, muddy and stinky seat cover/crate lining
The odd pen
A couple of battered tennis balls

@daisydalrymple around here the SPCA appreciates old bedding as they use it for in the kennels and it has to be replaced often.
They have gladly taken my old linens and towels loads of times

Shybutrude · 11/07/2024 00:23

An American hard candy bag (empty)
Fingerless gloves
A mask (COVID style)
A letter saying my partner has to travel for work during COVID
Pkt paracetamol
A can of coke that's been on the car since who knows when
Not great pickings tbh and suggest that the glove box hasn't been emptied since COVID !
Oh and dog poo bags, at least one spare lead

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 11/07/2024 00:27

Half a bottle of flat sparkling water.

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 11/07/2024 00:28

If they can be bothered to remove my toddlers isofix seat and top tethers, my 8 year old's car seat, my car charger, toddler buggy, lots of papers in the drivers door. No money tho.

Thedayb4youcame · 11/07/2024 00:30

A Hetty vacuum cleaner, a mop bucket, a huge crate full of clean cotton cloths, bag of mop heads, three mop handles, a bag of gloves (cotton & rubber), a pair of headphones, and a crate of cleaning products.

My friend is an electrician and has had her van broken into. She says the worst part is not the cost of losing the tools per-se and subsequently losing work while she has no tools, but it's losing tools that she's modified to her way of working.

I get that totally. Even in cleaning I've customised a great number of things. Irreplaceable now.

IamaRevenant · 11/07/2024 00:35

Some crisp packets, empty energy drink cans, a Royal Mail coat and a £3k sound system (admittedly it's my H's car although I bought the sound system!)

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/07/2024 00:35

Boot has a random collection of stuff I've been stashing ready for our caravan break this weekend, so loo roll, kitchen roll, some cleaning supplies, snack bars, 8 pack of Diet Coke, picnic blanket, beach mats (might be being a bit hopeful there!) and suchlike.

Think there might be a couple of 10p coins in the glovebox for the leisure centre lockers, and some charger cables.

That's about it.

caringcarer · 11/07/2024 00:36

My DD threatened to leave the car key outside so that they could steal my CDs as she hates my musical taste Grin. Other than 5 CDs they can have some poverty spec sunglasses, an empty chewing gum pot with old spat out gum, an emoty Costa cup and an empty McD cup from about 3 weeks ago, and some bags for life if they’re lucky as I usually forget to take any.

My ex used to regularly leave his laptop, golf clubs, money etc in his car and also left his key to my house in the car sometimes. I took the key off him when I realised.

He had the car broken into once and blamed me for staging it to try and reach him a lesson. He never learned of course. Wish I had, I could have done it on a night when it had some good stuff in it and sold it all! When we were on holiday once he left his rucksack in the car with iPad, Switch, Bose headphones, passport etc and it got stolen. He still didn’t take responsibility for being an idiot and was most offended when I suggested it was in any way careless of him.

Itiswhysofew · 11/07/2024 00:54

Parking change
Sweets
Emergency breakdown triangles
Reflective jackets
Bottles of water
Doggy water bowl
And a load of other crap, if they want it

HcbSS · 11/07/2024 00:55

I boiled it round at my mums while I was watching the match there and now I am home I realise it’s in a bag on the back seat and I cba to go and get it. It will be fine hahahaha 🥚
