There should be the death penalty for Karl Clifford and those like him

There is no doubt he did it. No case of mistaken identity. He’s taken 3 lives. He should be executed.

I don't agree with capital punishment but I think in these cases the best thing that can happen is that the police need to use lethal force, perhaps more readily than currently

WinterMorn · 10/07/2024 19:05

Happy to execute or sterilise a huge chunk of the population then are you? Are you familiar with the Nazi regime?

Yeah I am actually I think it’s really bad that some women have baby after baby taken off them and still are able to have children and then they are put in the care system because they are not capable of being a parent but that’s my opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️

NewtGuineaPig · 10/07/2024 19:10

Yes. Practically and financially it doesn't make any sense to keep him in prison for life, it's a drain on resources in a strained system.
From an emotional point of view I look at someone like Levi Bellfield and the hurt that he continues to cause the families of his victims from prison and think he absolutely deserves the death penalty, as do other killers like him.

Sondheimisademigod · 10/07/2024 19:10

WinterMorn · 10/07/2024 19:07

It would also cost millions of pounds to execute him, if due process is exercised from start to finish.

Precisely! In the USA, many prisoners are on death row for decades while appeals are processed, etc. Do those who think it's cheaper to kill them think they don't eat during this time? Do they cost nothing to keep?
Just goes to show how little the eye for an eye supporters know about what they are so vociferous about

DontBiteTheCat · 10/07/2024 19:11

No.

A whole life tariff would be justice here.

I don’t agree with capital punishment for many reasons, but let’s not forget this man tried to kill himself. Men who commit crimes like this aren’t scared of death, that’s why we see so many kill themselves afterwards. I don’t want them to have the easy way out, I want them to face trial and be punished. I want them to know they will never have freedom again.

GatherYePearls · 10/07/2024 19:11

Allthehorsesintheworld · 10/07/2024 19:06

Yes. Because he can never be released.
why should he have everything provided albeit in prison when he has ended the lives of three people ? It will cost millions over his lifetime to keep him in prison.
I’d not be bothered if he was put down. My previous dog didn’t suffer when he was put to sleep, it was peaceful which is more than this man deserves but at least it gets rid of him.

So Kyle Clifford's view that it's ok to kill people is shared by lots of people on here.

How depressing.

I wouldn't care if he died - he's a disgusting piece of excrement - but I don't think anyone should feel entitled to kill anyone else.

Edit- sorry didnt mean to quote this specific post but can't lose it!

Add people who don't know how to use apostrophes, and I'd be tempted to get on board.

Or people who have to comment on peoples grammar 🙄

LaWench · 10/07/2024 19:12

Not executed but made to be useful once incarcerated. I think lifelong prisoners should be used as guinea pigs in labs to test on instead of innocent animals.

FFS more women killed by a man.

Ok. Well I was posting for the OP not for everyone else to comment on my comment on someone else's thread. Please don't bother replying 🤦🏼‍♀️

FatmanandKnobbin · 10/07/2024 19:14

No, we should not implement state sanctioned murder.

I wouldn't care less if this piece of shit died, but the state should never be allowed to decide whether we live or die.

UpThePankhurst · 10/07/2024 19:14

No.

As with the burn out/mental health disaster rate of prison officers, it's worth looking up the impact on police and prison officers who had to be involved in the days of the UK death penalty. It just adds to the lives ruined and in some cases destroyed by the perpetrator.

Notaflippinclue · 10/07/2024 19:15

He will go down the MH route no doubt

Noseybookworm · 10/07/2024 19:15

It's state sanctioned murder. Which makes us just as bad as the murderer. Also, if we reintroduce the death penalty, innocent people WILL be executed, that's just a fact. We're a civilised society and we don't uphold our values by killing people.

I have worked in a high position actually. I was very good at my job. Not that that's any of business. Assuming I don't because of how I feel about capital punishment 🙄

moonlightwatch · 10/07/2024 19:09

Sorry didn’t realise there was people here who have to comment on spelling and grammar mistakes 🙄

not that I should have to explain clearly my phone auto corrected this and I didn’t notice.

I think people soo critical and judgemental such as yourself should just keep their opinions to themselves before starting on another user commenting on a thread? But here we are?

Well given that the op got the alleged murderers name wrong, I think it's a perfect example of why such things are important.
Your phone's autocorrect needs a reset if it thinks paedophile is spelt peadophile

Who has unilateral power to enforce mass sterilisation? Don’t be absurd

LizzieBennett73 · 10/07/2024 19:17

Let him rot in a cell. But in a cell in a prison where no visits are allowed, you have no contact with family at all, you're segregated 24/7 and given basic food rations. Enough of the holiday camp prisons you see on TV with phones, TV's, computers, warm bedding. It should be like the workhouses of old and be seen as an actual deterrent ie a fate worse than death.

So what if she got the name wrong why do you feel you have to comment about it? Like what is this about ? A spelling mistake ‘oh no’ someone got a name wrong ‘oh no’ pleaseeeeeee 🤦🏼‍♀️

Like they did with Jean Charles de Menezes? I wouldn’t trust half the police to hold a piss up in a brewery so encouraging lethal force is just death penalty without trial.

Champagnesocialismo · 10/07/2024 19:18

ColinMyWifeBridgerton · 10/07/2024 19:04

I'm against the death penalty so disagree. He should get life imprisonment.

Oh he’s getting a whole life order. They will never let him out.

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 10/07/2024 19:18

I think in America they've found that actually it doesn't save money to execute people.

And in California, more people have died of natural causes on death row than have been executed (since about 1980).
Overall about 25% of death row inmates die of natural causes.

Plus, obviously in America they have a lot more murders than we do. And that's not just because they have access to lethal weapons - they have a much higher murder rate than other countries that allow guns but don't have the death penalty.

So it's not cheaper, doesn't shorten the lives of a large chunk of them anyway, and isn't a deterrent.

Sadly, the required response to this would cause an immediate ban by mnhq
But I hope that when the police do decide to adopt this tactic, neither you nor your family are being arrested.
How uncivilised

The thing is prison is easier for some criminals because they are safe, get fed three meals a day, get gym access if they are good which outside of prison you have to pay for, they are allowed to go outside for exercise and they also have tv's, radios and even game consoles. I always thought prison was a case of being in a cell 24/7 but it's not I do think a lot of criminals go back to their old ways because being in prison is a luxury to them 🤷🏼‍♀️
