There is no doubt he did it. No case of mistaken identity. He’s taken 3 lives. He should be executed.

I do support the DP in some circumstances, but we would become like the US - condemned killers in limbo, lodging appeal after appeal. I've always been staggered reading accounts of murderers hanged when we did have it - how short a time elapsed between their offence, trial and execution. Ruth Ellis killed her boyfriend at Easter and was executed in July. She did not appeal, but even in cases where they did, it was heard very quickly. People say that Brady and Hindley ought to have been hanged - they certainly deserved it, but Pauline Read's body would never have been found if they had.

IMO, the reason that prison doesn't work in this country is because criminals know the police won't catch them, the CPS won't prosecute them and a judge won't send them to prison. The amount of crimes a criminal can get away with before even getting a whiff of incarceration is huge, making the risk eminently worth it.

I really can't figure out why the prisons are full if no one ever gets caught, prosecuted and convicted. Who are all these people clogging up the prisons?

I think that those deliberately disfiguring their victims should be released only when the victim is restored perfectly to their condition before the attack. If any damage remains, they stay locked up.

Yep and she’s been doing some protest I think or something to keep venables in prison. I read the book from the father’s point and it was such a heart breaking read those two boys completely destroyed the mum and dad. As you said it has haunted them their whole lives and it’s just absolutely awful 😔 it’s a constant reminder when that scumbag is always in the limelight for reoffending he should be taken out.

Interestingly, to being back the death penalty would require first leaving the European Convention on Human Rights. Or, to put it another way, leaving the European Convention on Human Rights would be the first step on the way to restoring the death penalty. Of course, no British political party would entertain such a oh wait.
