There should be the death penalty for Karl Clifford and those like him

There is no doubt he did it. No case of mistaken identity. He’s taken 3 lives. He should be executed.

OP posts:

For those of you who say prison is a punishment think on, yes it’s not the life you could have but it is life, people become institutionalised and used to the daily routine in time it becomes not so bad, I do not believe a cold blooded murderer deserves even this life, and I’m happy to stand by that.

Exactly! 👏🏻👏🏻

Notaflippinclue · 10/07/2024 21:03

If they can't find anyone to pull the switch perhaps the bereaved family would oblige I've often thought if someone did some heinous torture and murder to my child - I would like 10 minutes in a room with them and it wouldn't cost a penny

Disturbia81 · 10/07/2024 21:04

OP I know the passionate place you're coming from, and in an ideal world he would be killed in a slow and painful way. I don't agree with the posters who say it would make the state as guilty as him. Erm no, it's very different.. he took innocent lives. The state would be just removing a dangerous individual.

But I think death is too easy. He needs to live with what he did every second of every day, having no freedom. Yes he gets to get fed, maybe work out in a gym, watch tv. For the rest of his life. With his own thoughts.

clarepetal · 10/07/2024 21:05

Two wrongs don't make a right. An eye for an eye and the world is blind.

I understand the anger. Really, I do, but what happens if the wrong person is convicted?

EsmaCannonball · 10/07/2024 21:05

The arguments about prison officer morale and safety are more questions of logistics and prison management than the ethics of what to do with criminals.

For me the big question is justice, not pragmatism or even crime prevention. IMO, justice does call for some criminals to die but I hate the idea of the state having that power.

Tiddlywinkly · 10/07/2024 21:06

No, I don't agree with the death penalty.

I'd personally like a bit of hard labour.

Thevelvelletes · 10/07/2024 20:55

All of the above is the punishment and the reality of prison life.
Not the it's a holiday camp myth perpetuated in the media.

But the media is not wrong. Someone I know is in prison and he’s able to do courses and further his education, he’s had therapy and free dental treatment when these days you can’t even get an appointment or a dentist to take you on. He gets to work in there to earn money for luxuries, he’s able to go out for fresh air, watch tv, listen to the radio, gets certain amounts of calls a day, is able to actually log on to a computer and check emails, goes in the gym which outside we have to pay for. Like how is prison a punishment?

@moonlightwatch oh, so which Uk health professionals are 'trained' in performing the death penalty then??

Prison officers would be the ones managing those on death row....I didn't sign up for that! One minute we are checking in on suicidal men, signing documents to prove we were watching them, sitting on constant watch's and being prepared to enter cells to cut them down and perform CPR.... the next we are dragging them out of the same cell to their deaths?? Nah

Thevelvelletes · 10/07/2024 21:08

Ok according to you prison is a luxury...aye right.

Life2Short4Nonsense · 10/07/2024 21:09

moonlightwatch · 10/07/2024 21:02

Actually a medical profession gives the injection prison guards are not trained and there for not allowed. You say that but it costs us annually as tax payers too keep this scum alive in a prison. I mean prisoners aren’t kept in prisons for free are they? Soo yeah give them the lethal injection, wasting money allowing them to live.

In the US it's not trained medical professionals, it's trained prison guards and the lethal substances that are used are difficult to come by. Many manufactures refuse to sell to prisons. They don't want to be associated with that. So prisons are forced to find other means. The end result is often that the execution results in a painful and drawn out death which the executioner has to witness.

rainfordays · 10/07/2024 21:09

In cases like this, I would support the death penalty. You take a life maliciously, you forfeit your own life. Seems fair to me. Never mind taking multiple lives maliciously. Why keep people like that around? What possible good will come of it? He gets to a point where he's "sorry"? Boo fucking hoo...won't bring back the people he murdered, will it.

OhHelloMiss · 10/07/2024 21:09

OneBadKitty · 10/07/2024 21:02

I don't believe in the death penalty- they should torture them instead and make them suffer for the rest of their lives!

Who is going to be torturing people? Is it a 9-5 job with weekends off? What's the salary?

MyBreezyPombear · 10/07/2024 21:09

It sounds like he was found with injuries, a few people have said that he tried to hang himself. Why give him what he wants? Make him spend the rest of his years behind bars and let him suffer.

The voice of reason once again, some pp are full of blood lust and are clearly nuts.

StMarieforme · 10/07/2024 21:10

@Sondheimisademigod also it is not possible to be 110% as 100% is representative of the whole so the poster is asking the impossible.

Nurses, paramedics,EMT's etc not anyone can give an injection. You have to be professional trained and qualified to do it.

Embarrassingly I also know somebody who's been in and out and have been given the same description of prison all in the name or human rights isn't it?

Longma · 10/07/2024 21:12

I can never agree with capital punishment, no matter what.
A civilised country does not, and should not, condone killing people.

He is likely to get a very long sentence and it's quite possible he will not become eligible for early realise or parole, etc.

Life2Short4Nonsense · 10/07/2024 21:12

Thevelvelletes · 10/07/2024 21:10

This and they would never be willing to perform the executions themselves, even if, in anger, they claim they would.

StMarieforme · 10/07/2024 21:13

@moonlightwatch correct us of punctuation and grammar is not an opinion.
Your post is an opinion. So you have said that you should have not posted.

Zotter · 10/07/2024 21:13

He should get a life sentence with no parole but no I will never support capital punishment.

NoImNotCurvyImFat · 10/07/2024 21:13

What he did is utterly horrific

I will never agree with the death penalty

I can understand when families victims feel the death penalty is the right answer

its never been a deterrent and never will be

JoJothegerbil · 10/07/2024 21:13

I don't believe in the death penalty. Let him rot in jail for the rest of his life. Death is the easy way out for him.

I'm also interested in the salary 😂
