I don't think anything will happen for a while OP. This is the honeymood period. Give it until winter. I reckon late Jan/early Feb and we will be plunged into our first year of Labour chaos. Then heads will roll.

How can you talk about ‘Labour chaos’ after the last 6 or so years?

But Jeremy Corbyn.

absquatulize · 11/07/2024 21:05

I would just like to say that when I disagree with someone on something, I then make sure to call them thick, in order that they see the error of their ways. Strangely often this just leads them to repeating what they previously said and getting angry, demonstrating beyond reasonable doubt that they are indeed thick and also uncouth. It is a sure fire way of winning any argument, that I highly recommend others try.

Excellent advice. Do you run masterclasses?

I would be pleased to accept your money.

Badhairdayagain · 11/07/2024 22:09

I’m really happy that labour are in power. It really irked me that privately educated pompous prats who know nothing about real life were running the country. No one should go unless they under perform

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/07/2024 11:42

I know lm a woman, my friends are women. It’s only on MN any one cares about it.

In real life they don’t.

I can assure you that you are quite wrong as the women of Scotland so smly demonstrated when Sturgeon and Co tried to foist self ID on them. Personally, I take a very dim view of the trans maidens who are so carelessly cavalier with womens’ very few hard won rights. You should bear in mind that they aren’t yours to give away. I would rather die than ever agree that a trans woman is a woman - as if any self important, selfish and entitled biological male could ever come close!

Lots of sub conscious racism/classism on here, especially regarding some of the outrageously stupid acts done by public school raised Tories, who only got to where they are because of where they went to school.
lots of conscious, unconscious and infinity bias. I.e, because some of you don’t personally relate to Lammy or Rayner, you have to question their intellect. Unbelievable when you think about the referendum, not closing the borders at the beginning of Covid, unusable PPE, care homes being left to become Covid incubators, Truss crashing the economy, bloody Rwanda scheme, migrants in hotels because there are no systems in place etc etc etc!

notjaneausten · 11/07/2024 22:43

I'm hoping the whole lot of them, not one inspires any confidence at all.

newnamethanks · 11/07/2024 22:50

The value of private schooling is not showing itself to any advantage on this thread. Money can't buy you everything apparently.

You may be on to something about the racism.

I was always a bit suspicious of MNers’ motives when Sunak, Badenoch, Braverman, Patel, Kwarteng, Javid and others were being viciously attacked on here.

And you could be right about classism too. Nadine Dorries got a lot of vile comments on MN, very possibly because she’s not middle class.

Sounding suspiciously woke there FinalCeleryScheme, I do hope you've not been turned by the Lefty pinkos on this thread.

SirChenjins · 11/07/2024 19:25

Just a reminder that the UK is in a state as a result of Labour and SNP Govts too. The Tories haven’t been the only incompetent Govts of the last decade.

Edited

How the hell can you blame the last 14 years of chaos, corruption and incompetenacy on Labour. Westminster is the seat of government for the whole of the UK, btw, Scotland included.

swimsong · 11/07/2024 23:15

SirChenjins · 11/07/2024 20:06

I’m not dancing around anything - I was reminding a pp that the absolute state of the UK is not only down to a Tory govt. .

It pretty much is though.

I bought some new double-standards antennae today from Curry’s. They’re working splendidly at the moment, and are beeping away at post-election MN threads like crazy.

Apart from areas such as housing, certain transport, health, education, economy, justice, rural affairs, housing, environment, social services, consumer advocacy and advice, certain taxes and benefits, agriculture, forestry, etc etc…

Have a think about that. Labour has been in Govt in…?

Not 14 years - but the last decade has seen non Tory Govts elsewhere

Do you mean they didn't go to private school, so are not intelligent enough for the cabinet? Or perhaps they are too Northern?

I don’t think that’s what was meant at all but that is your perception due to the massive chip on your shoulder.

newnamethanks · 12/07/2024 07:54

Perhaps you're correct and not simply mistaking arrogance for education.

OneLilacCrow · 12/07/2024 07:56

Let’s hope so.

OneLilacCrow · 12/07/2024 08:06

I think Lammy too. If Trump gets in he will be a liability. We can’t afford a Foreign Secretary who has been so rude about the President of a country which is our major ally.

maryanne3 · 12/07/2024 08:09

bellinisurge · 10/07/2024 11:15

I think Lammy too. He's thick. You can only hide that for so long

The man has a Masters in Law from Harvard. And you?

BulldogSpirit · 12/07/2024 08:43

How about Anneliese Dodds, the new minister for women and equalities. Not exactly a champion for women, is she? She is in my top spot for the axe.
