Hearing the mam talk on the news. I am heartbroken for her and her family.
But 17 years in jail is nothing he ruined at least two families.

So awful. So terrible. He needs to be put away for life and it mean life. His property and belongings, money anything he owns should be taken to pay for prison. What scum. What a disgrace of a person.
As an additional aspect - Ban drinking and driving. If you drive you don’t drink alcohol for 24hours before. If you drive with any alcohol you lose your licence forever. Checks for small amounts from foods etc could be managed.

this. I enjoy a drink as much as anyone, but would NEVER ger into a car after drinking alcohol. 17 years is not nearly enough. And 21 year driving ban? He may be banned, but itdoesn't mean he wont drive. Tjey need to put him in a general prison, and let the other inmates know what he has done. The other inmates will take care of things.

Heard about this today . What a vile man Anderson is. He joked and flirted with nurses in hospital, and refused to give blood sample.
He even made up lies after knowing he killed two innocent people, one being a baby.

Vile man. I hope Labour doesn’t go soft on these sentences.

Will he serve half his 17 year sentence?

HungryLittleCrocodile · 09/07/2024 22:16

Hey @HungryLittleCrocodile I'll 'act' how I like thanks ! 👍

Careful! You nearly hit me with your dummy.

Oh FFS stop trying to score political points! Hmm

I'm not an expert, but I don't think that he will have an easy ride in prison to be honest. Justice is often handled differently inside and anyone who harms a child can be subject to special treatment amongst prisoners.

He will likely be Vp so will have protection

That way it keeps everyone safe

Does anyone know if the sentencing report is available - I want to understand why it was only 17 years

When people kill with a car a lot of the sentences are very lenient. I don’t understand, is it because so many drive?

I rarely cry at the news but reading about her looking for her baby broke me a bit.

Me too. My youngest is 17 months. It's incomprehensible.

Imuptoolate · 09/07/2024 22:27

Haven’t been able to get this out of my head since reading it earlier. Utterly heartbreaking. That poor poor mother, how can she possibly carry on with her life after such trauma and loss?

As for the piece of shit who did it, I hope his fellow inmates dish out more justice than the judge did. If there was ever a case for bringing back the death penalty, this would surely be it.

comedycentral · 09/07/2024 22:31

Oh gosh, what an awful story, I wish I hadn't read it. The poor family, awful, how will they ever recover.

I know right. I saw her interviewed on the news earlier, and she was in bits. 😢

100% this. ^👏

CollyBobble · 09/07/2024 22:37

He's gone in holiday with his wife but she had come home early as his behaviour was so awful. I hope she's now divorced him.

In the absence of the death penalty he should be locked up forever.

EmilyDickinson · 09/07/2024 22:47

Like other posters I don’t really understand why people like this are ever allowed to drive again. Plenty of people manage without a car / driving licence. It’s perfectly possible. Public transport, taxis etc. I just don’t think that the inconvenience of not being able to drive for people like this comes anywhere close to outweighing the huge danger they pose to everyone else on the road. It’s clear from the reports that he had been convicted of drink driving before but had not been banned, or not banned for long enough. I feel sick that he can get back behind the driving wheel again one day. We should be much, much stricter about driving offences. It’s reasonably hard to pass your driving test but once that’s done there seem to be very few checks

I live in this vile individual's home town, and the word about his business is out.
Also he will be serving his sentence at HMP Doncaster as it is deemed he wouldn't be safe in Durham.

VladimirVsVolodymyr · 09/07/2024 22:48

The poor family. Utterly heartbreaking 💔
My friend was killed by a drunk driver high on drugs almost 14 years ago in Dublin. My friend was 24 and had just gotten engaged to his girlfriend.
The other driver was driving on the wrong side of the road going in the opposite direction. He was four times over the limit and on a cocktail of drugs.

The judge gave him a....wait for it 4 years suspended sentence because the judge said it was out of character for the driver as he was an architect with no prior convictions.
On appeal he was sentenced to 4 years in prison a good 3 years after the accident. He spent less than 15 months in prison and he's got his life back.
Just one bad decision by the drink driver has affected so many lives in the last 14 years. I hope Zack's mum finds joy again after the loss of her sister and her son ❤️

Why do they even make cars that can go that speed?. Genuine question....

I’ve never thought of this before!
It makes so much sense!

Anyone driving 100mph is dangerous driving and it shouldn’t be allowed at all.

It would be hard to restrict on old cars and I’m sure there would be some illegal way to mess with them but the government/world should at least start producing cars that have a lower maximum speed.

My DB had a car that went to 200mph.
He never went that fast in it as it cost a lot of money but why would a car even need to go that fast.

Combattingthemoaners · 09/07/2024 22:55

What a beautiful little boy. Broke my heart reading that. His poor poor mother.

Paul2023 · 09/07/2024 22:59

17 years for two deaths , including a baby is very lenient. Especially when he showed no remorse and lied..

Should have been 17 years per death and a whole lot more!

Campaigners have been calling for tougher sentences for death by dangerous driving and life time bans for people who kill
behind the wheel.

Sadly so far the law hasn’t changed as far as I know.

I’ve worked in a male prison previously and I wouldn’t guarantee that would necessarily happen.

He's a cunt. And I rarely rarely use that word. He said on the night 'mistakes happen'.

An evil cunt.

I actually don’t have the words for this one, nothing I say will be enough, I hope he rots

OhHelloMiss · 09/07/2024 23:04

@Paul2023 what staying safe or taking the rule?

Allthehorsesintheworld · 09/07/2024 23:06

Lied.
Lack of remorse.
Should have been life.

SunsetandCupcakes · 09/07/2024 23:16

My heart just aches for the mother.

Rainfallrain · 09/07/2024 23:19

He should definitely never be allowed to drive again.

I’m saying he won’t necessarily go onto the VP wing. I don’t know for sure though it depends on if his prison has one , they don’t always .
