@OriginalFloorboards thats your GP’s job- will probs be a practice nurse doing it anyway. Some pharmacies do it .

Inkypot · 09/07/2024 18:15

44 and got heart age of 44 so happy with that. I have worked hard to get my health in check the past year so it's nice to see it's paying off! Previously my heart age would've been much higher!

typicaltuesdaynight · 09/07/2024 18:18

52 I'm 50 next week thought it would be worse as I'm fat

alahanscornershop · 09/07/2024 18:21

I'm 47 and got 50, had I have known my cholesterol it would have been 46

I don’t get this - do you mean if you knew it and it was healthy?

nokidshere · 09/07/2024 18:25

I am overweight, an ex smoker, normal cholesterol, BP, and glucose. I also have rheumatoid arthritis so I'm not very mobile. 2 weeks ago I suffered a massive STEMI heart attack with no obvious symptoms except increased indigestion. On this chart it says my heart health is 78 (I'm 63).

However, my super fit, slim, healthy, vegetarian, non smoking, low alcohol intake, walks a minimum of 5 miles a day husband also had a heart attack 6 months ago. On this chart he also has a heart age of 78 (he is 70)

There are so many variables that a 'quiz' like this can't possibly be accurate and surely we all know what we should be doing to stay healthy even if we don't always do it. Unless you have regular blood tests and check ups there wouldn't necessarily be any signs that your cholesterol is high or that you are pre diabetic. Regular screening is the only way to go.

Nannyfannybanny · 09/07/2024 18:28

It's rubbish, because it doesn't take a lot of other things into account, fitness levels and exercise. I am 73,it came out at ,73.said my sistolic BP was high at 120,that's rubbish,my cholesterol at 4 was ok, but I would probably need statins. Last year following Covid, I had a very comprehensive cardiac echo, and CT with contrast. I have no abdominal fat around organs, and the cardiologist said I have the heart of a 25 year old, absolutely no issues whatsoever. He complimented me on my veggie diet and exercise regime, said my heart should keep going like this and serve me another 25 years.

BogRollBOGOF · 09/07/2024 18:45

It came out as +1y (early 40s) because I don't know my cholesterol. It could be a couple of years younger if it is at a healthy level.

My BMI has just tipped over 25, but that's partly because I'm a muscular pear shape, so there's a fair bit of healthy mass in my legs and glutes that help me run long distance, and I also do weights.
My waist: hip ratio is still OK, although I am gently working on some moderate fat loss but that's more as long term health management rather than it being as a current health risk.

You'd think that activity level might be more than slightly relevant to include!

I'm sure my heart and other organs are happier for a higher weight, good muscle mass and regular exercise than being a lower BMI, similar body fat and being of a "skinny-fat" build.

Mama1980 · 09/07/2024 18:52

I'm 42 and my heart age is 38 so pretty good

AstonMartha · 09/07/2024 18:56

3 years older than I am but I didn’t know my BO or cholesterol. It didn’t ask about activity, diet or stress levels.
A healthy BMI might assume that you eat well and exercise but isn’t always the case.
Stress is going to put me into an early grave.

SallyWD · 09/07/2024 18:59

I got 49 and I am 49

user1471538275 · 09/07/2024 19:05

70 - I pretty much hit everything

As someone else said even if I lose weight, start on statins, blood pressure meds it will still be 60s

kabella · 09/07/2024 19:16

I couldn't do it properly or accurately as I don't know cholesterol levels and the batteries died mid-reading on my blood pressure monitor. So it guessed that my heart age was the same as my actual age.

However, my blood pressure is usually fine and I do a lot of exercise. My smart watch tells me I have a resting heart rate of 56 and good heart health for my age.

henlake7 · 09/07/2024 19:19

54, and Im 51.
Dont know my cholesterol but dont imagine its high as I eat well. Also I disagree with their blood pressure measurements. What they consider to be a normal systolic (esp the lower end) would be flagged as too low in a hospital setting, at least where I work!

CollyBobble · 09/07/2024 19:27

Mine was four years below my actual age. I am fit and healthy so was expecting a good result.

Vettrianofan · 09/07/2024 19:30

42, will be 42 in a few months. Although it should be around 41 or 40 as my cholesterol has recently been checked due to annual health MOT and it was very healthy for my age.

bakewellbride · 09/07/2024 19:42

34 my actual age

Devilsmommy · 09/07/2024 19:45

44 and I'm 37yo

Sunnyside4 · 09/07/2024 19:46

Mine is 61, I'm 57. Things that add to it care family history and my cholesterol which had recently been checked - am currently making adjustments to reduce it. My cholesterol about five years ago was 5. I don't gave butter, spread, cream, meat, only have skimmed milk, not really into pastry, so wasn't expecting it to go up.

wastingtimeonhere · 09/07/2024 20:08

55 and I'm 57, although could lose a little weight. Menopausal weight gain has a lot to answer for!

Thegreatgiginthesky · 09/07/2024 20:11

Portfun24 · 09/07/2024 17:10

Maybe they calculate bmi for it also?

My bmi is 19. I tried bmi 18.5 and 23 in the calculator and it still did not reduce it.

GameOfJones · 09/07/2024 20:17

37 and I'm 36. Due to my BMI and being an ex smoker but I was actually expecting higher.

StoatofDisarray · 09/07/2024 20:29

Hmphf. My results say my blood pressure is "ideal", but because I don't know my cholesterol, I'm being given a heart age of 64 but I'm 57. This is bullshit!

nokidshere · 09/07/2024 21:14

Dont know my cholesterol but dont imagine its high as I eat well

This is a common misconception. Just because you eat well and exercise does not mean you have healthy cholesterol levels.

DH is vegetarian, never snacks, eats 3 well balanced meals a day every day, and walks every day. He never checked his cholesterol because why would he, he's so healthy. Unfortunately an unexpected heart attack said otherwise, and his cholesterol was high.

OooohAhhhh · 10/07/2024 10:00

37 and I'm 42
