I'm 40 which matches my heart age :)

Mine was 2 years older, but I didn’t have a recent cholesterol level, it said with normal cholesterol it would be 3 years under my age. I have actually never had raised cholesterol so think that would be more accurate.

It also came down another year with my previous post code in the south where I lived till last year.

I should live till 84 without having a stroke or heart attack and less than 10% chance of either in next 10 years.

Overall reassuring, thanks OP

I’m 51
my heart age is 49. I had a cholesterol blood test last week so that was handy.

Makemydaypunk · 10/07/2024 15:58

The test doesn’t ask how active we are, surely that’s a major indicator on heart health? a sedentary person compared to a runner for example? They may be the same weight and age but the more active person would have a stronger heart? No questions about diet or alcohol intake either! Sorry but I think this test is a load of rubbish.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 10/07/2024 16:04

That’s exactly what I thought, @Makemydaypunk

OneFrenchEgg · 10/07/2024 16:11

How can it be younger than your actual age? I got 51 and am 51.

CharlotteRumpling · 10/07/2024 16:15

yes, odd no activity considered.

I’m thin, have a good level of HDL, no family history of CVD, good BP etc.
Plenty of others have got a lower heart age than their actual age too.

OneFrenchEgg · 10/07/2024 16:27

@FactoryResetNeeded I think I'm taking it too literally. Maybe it makes sense but all those apply to me, except I did smoke many years ago.

CharlotteRumpling · 10/07/2024 16:15

yes, odd no activity considered.

I’m a little overweight but I’m very active and fit. However it seems my heart age would be the same as someone the same age/weight/height but completely sedentary.

I don’t believe it.

Edited to add: this could actually be a disincentive to exercise!

fiddleleaffig · 10/07/2024 16:38

I'm 39 and it's 39 which surprised me actually as I always felt I had a healthy heart so would have expected it to be lower. My last blood pressure reading was 109/81 and my pulse resting rate is usually 55-65bpm. Healthy bmi, never had any health conditions.

AcrossTheOceanMissingHome · 10/07/2024 16:39

I am 45. I had my cholesterol and blood pressure taken a few weeks ago so I was able to provide those figures which were all good, bmi is healthy and none of the conditions or family history mentioned.

AdoraBell · 10/07/2024 16:39

Oh dear, I am 56 and my heart age came out to 59. It didn’t have an option for how much exercise.

incognitolady · 10/07/2024 16:40

I am 35, heart age is 39. Really need to get fitter.

tinytemper66 · 10/07/2024 16:48

It matched mine actual age of 57 plus I didn't know my cholesterol so it could be lowered to 54. My BMI is a tad higher than it should be-26 not 25.

Flatulence · 10/07/2024 16:53

39 even though I'm early 40s. Not sure why as I'm fat. But my BP and cholesterol are normal and I've never smoked so that's probably swung it.

UserNumber56 · 10/07/2024 16:58

Mine is two years below my actual age. It would probably be lower if my cholesterol and blood pressure weren't deemed to be a bit high.

I didn't know that my blood pressure, of 120/70, is considered high nowadays. I've had the same BP for all of my adult life and have always been told by doctors that I had quite low BP! My GP used to comment on it when I went for ante natal checks, over 40 years ago. When did the criteria change - and who changed them? Could it have been influenced by the manufacturers of BP medications or the manufacturers of statins, perhaps? I have no intention of ever taking either drug.

TomatoSandwiches · 09/07/2024 16:45

65 and I'm 39

That actually upset me a bit

Are you able to tackle the bits that push it up? I'm 42 and mines 49-54 (depending on my cholesterol). I'm working on my BP and really need to get to grips with losing weight but it's hard

Buddysbunda · 10/07/2024 17:07

I'm 38 but forgot and said I was 39. I don't know my blood pressure or cholesterol so couldn't put them in but i know they are 'normal' as i had them tested recently. Mine came out as 39, 33 if blood pressure and cholesterol are fine. I had a cardiac echo, 48 hr holter monitor test and the treadmill test thing recently and was told by the cardiologist that my heart is 'fine and strong' so it's not something I worry about anyway.

I am surprised that exercise wasn't mentioned at all though. We are told it is so important for heart health so I expected to see it there.

nommom · 10/07/2024 17:07

Interesting as a guide I am 46 and it gave me 41. However nothing I changed made it go lower but I could make it go higher. Also the weight thing isn't accurate because some people will have more muscle and weight more others will be lighter but have more fat / visceral fat.

CortieTat · 10/07/2024 17:18

I got a two-year penalty for being an ex-smoker. However my HRV, VO2 max and resting heart rate are of a much younger person so Im slightly offended 😅

JamSandle · 10/07/2024 17:25

40 (I'm 35) - high cholesterol

If I'm to believe my Garmin, I'm definitely "younger" than 40.

I'm 55. I got 55. I'm happy with that.

I recently got a garmin and didn't know that it had fitness age, I just checked and mine is 5 years lower than my actual age. I'm trying to get my vo2 max up though, it's a 47 at the mo which is 'excellent' but I an aiming for 'superior'. I think I need 48 for that. I don't really know how accurate these gadgets are though.

Doje · 10/07/2024 17:50

Bloody thing gave me 48 and I'm 46!

No idea on BP or cholesterol so I only input height and weight but it admitted I've got a healthy BMI.

Maybe it aged me because I'm not informed enough of my vital statistics.

Not happy with that at all! 🤣
