Dd went on a residential trip last week for her end of year primary school thing. I bought for her, a body spray to use whilst she was there because it was a lot of outdoor activities.

Now all I can smell is the bloody body spray. She reapplies it daily. My fault really for getting it in the first place but I thought she would be older than 11 before the perfume fug starts. I’m just lucky the lynx for ds hasn’t started yet!

This. Much better for the environment.

I remember those days and yucky smells! No help to you now, but they do grow up and leave home at which point you can buy yourself unpurfumed deodorant etc!

Cabbageandcoconut · 07/07/2024 16:37

never buy them a scent you don’t love the smell of!

BotterMon · 07/07/2024 16:40

Don't worry - it'll run out soon!

I actually quite like it. It’s not over powering or heavily floral. But it’s just always there now

DD loves lynx Africa, my house regularly smells like I Live with a horde of teenage boys.

LorraLorraShite · 07/07/2024 16:44

still better than a smelly teen tbh🙂

Mumof1andacat · 07/07/2024 16:46

I remember when my dh was living at home. His dad would comment 'smells like a tarts hand bag in here!' Which translated to the house smelling of lynx and versace blue jeans! His brother was still at home then, too. No escape

longdistanceclaraclara · 07/07/2024 16:49

Dts are thirteen, they are obsessed with So Simple sprays. Victorias Secret and any random cheap stuff they get their hands on. As my dad used to say it smells like a tarts boudoir here most of the time.

thecrispfiend · 07/07/2024 16:49

Wait till she discovers the Sol de Janeiro sprays - to be fair they smell amazing ut are v expensive!!

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 07/07/2024 16:50

If she is white skinned she will be turning orange soon. They all do...

BigHoops · 07/07/2024 16:52

Ha I feel you OP. Someone bought DD9 a range of body sprays for her birthday. Kindly meant but jeez we've been drowning in 'watermelon jazz' or whatever it's called all this week on holiday 😁 may need to discretely move them once we're home!

AllTheChaos · 07/07/2024 16:53

I misread the ‘jazz’ part in that, @BigHoops, and thought it sounded rather, ah, avant guard!

Yep! Dd asked my brother for these for her 12th bday and he got her the pink and brown one. That’s all I smell from her and her room now!

1offnamechange · 07/07/2024 16:57

Surely daily is the normal frequency to use deodorant and body spray? Once every morning is hardly going to result in a "perfume fug?" I wouldn't even describe it as "reapplying" because yesterday's would have washed off after 24hrs.

I thought you were going to say she does it hourly...

menopausalmare · 07/07/2024 16:57

My DD is 10 and uses roll on plus I bought her a fruity spray from Superdrug. She does get quite pongy and likes her scent. It's not an aerosol and does last quite a long while.

Hopefully not. I pride myself on my pale skin. I deliberately stay out of the sun. Dd on the other hand has inherited her dad’s gypsy skin, and tans at the slightest ray. Im hoping she prefers the natural tan rather than the orange tan

There are worse smells.

Lourdes12 · 07/07/2024 17:00

No scent can Camouflage body odour, you are just going to smell both of them which is even worse. A wash and non fragrance deodorant is all that's needed

How rude of your father.

Surely you should never shame pubescent children for trying to pay attention to their personal hygiene.

Either teach them to wash better daily and/or shut up.

Makemydaypunk · 07/07/2024 17:05

How come these cheap body sprays can overpower a house yet my very expensive perfume lasts all of 5 seconds! 😂
