I I am also not a fan of the tiered, frilled, puffed sleeved frocks that the shops are full of

Me neither, I dont get the trend for huge puffed sleeves and smock like dresses that make everyone look pregnant- they arent flattering on anyone. I get some people like loose clothing but you can still get nicely fitted loose clothes that dont look like you've inserted a balloon up each sleeve.

Also regarding huge lashes that can seen from space, I dont get them either- they dont make people look attractive at all, they look really heavy and drag your eyelids down to the point you cant barely see someone's eyes- how is that sexy?!

I also dont like the trend for aubergine hair which a lot of middle aged women seem to favour. It's such a harsh unnatural flat colour and it never seems to suit the skin tone of the people that choose to get it. Plus after a few washes it just looks like faded purple.

Otterock · 07/07/2024 15:35

Turkey teeth

Frilly/smock dresses

open back bloody everything

overdone lip filler

fake lashes so thick you can hardly see the persons eyes - it just makes them look squinty and all you can see is plastic lash

Cerialkiller · 07/07/2024 15:36

Tbh more then any of the things mentioned above it's just how revealing and tight everything is at the moment. The tight leggings with no skirt look has been around for a while but it's gone to another level with the arse crack version.

I'm not the type to think everyone should cover up and be 'modest' all the time but it just looks soo much classier to leave something to the imagination girls! I don't believe it's comfier or more practical either which only leaves male gaze and 'look at me' like the issue of teenage girls popularity being based on how short they rolled up their skirt. Just. No. It looks good on exactly no-one too.

To be fair, if I had a fantastic arse, I'd be in scrunchy bum gym wear 24/7 . I wouldn't have had the courage to wear such clothes when I fid have that arse, around 1994, so props to girls/women who leave the house dressed like that.

I'm in Spain, other than the sliders+socks and cycling shorts, I haven't seen the other things mentioned.

Those toenails in the fluffy mules made me heave 😷

Really? I don’t care how ‘fit’ a girl is I don’t want to see the outline of her crack when I’m walking down the street, it’s so tacky.

charlieinthehaystack · 07/07/2024 15:45

Next to my shop a new aesthetic beauty salon has opened; things that come out of there is amazing! what I don't get is that most of the customers are young women think late teens 20s and 30s. At that age you are ok I wouldnt do it but mostly I would have thought it would be older women that need a bit of help

LakeTiticaca · 07/07/2024 15:45

The botoxy puffed up face with false eyes lashes so heavy you can't open your eyes fully.
The jet black dyed hair with the tango'd orange fake tan. Eyebrows that would give Eric Cantona a run for his money.
The tiny waist and enormous arse, surely that is a big health concern 😟

Mintearo7 · 07/07/2024 15:49

Summer dresses with trainers. Don’t mind if they are nice ones that look like shoes a bit but most are SO ugly. Trainers show dirt so much it just looks horrendous unless you are doing actual exercise. Gets on my actual wick that people don’t think about how these massive trainer companies treat their sweatshop workers and are making sooooo much money because of this trend.

honeylulu · 07/07/2024 15:49

For men: that awful haircut where the hairline at the front is cut/ shaved into a rigid line. In our house we call it "Lego hair" as it looks like the plastic hair you can press/clip into Lego character heads.

For women - any sort of high waisted jeans. Makes even slim women/ girls look like they have a distended abdomen and flat flabby arse.

I don't mind dresses with trainers as long as they're not white. I've always hated white trainers - I think they make people's legs look like golf clubs. But I do think dresses look nicer with sandals anyway.

French tuck/ half tuck looks crap, like you didn't rearrange your clothes properly after visiting the toilet.

100% the fillers and Botox. So weird talking to people when their face is full of this shit. I cant concentrate on what they’re saying because I’m too distracted by their weird facial expressions.

What a load of bollocks😂

KatyaKabanova · 07/07/2024 15:54

I'm going to agree - tiered flowery dresses with trainers, denim jacket and cross body bag. It's like a uniform round here.
Agree with the fake lashes and plumped lips.

RubySloth · 07/07/2024 15:56

I'm screwed 😂

I wear dresses and trainers, skinny jeans, High waisted jeans.

Ah well, worst things happen at sea 😆

The new sock trend is probably the only thing, I can't get my head around.

Not really, I agree it's completely weird and odd

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/07/2024 15:59

Opposite of minimal chic really @yesmen. Lots of jewellery, maybe animal print, that type of thing

White gym socks pulled up over gym leggings. It cuts the leg off mid-calf and makes even those with the most fabulous pins look like Max Wall.

FrenchMustard · 07/07/2024 16:03

Platform and high heeled crocs

Toddlerteaplease · 07/07/2024 16:03

Laminated eyebrows and lip fillers. They look ridiculous

whirlyhead · 07/07/2024 16:09

I live in Spain and I’m thoroughly sick of thong bikinis and the way women keep bending over in them. It’s all too gynaecological for me. Plus half the women wearing them are on the chunky side and I don’t need to see massive arses everywhere.

rainbowbee · 07/07/2024 16:09

Like others have said- the little house on the prairie dress with clumpy white trainers. Anything that is obviously false- the Turkey teeth and lip fillers and lash strips.
The bull ring nose ring.
The romper suits usually worn by younger fat people. They just look like giant toddlers.
Nude leggings- suit nobody.
Socks and sliders; especially in a city centre- yuck.

Charlize43 · 07/07/2024 16:10

All the plastic surgery fakery, but especially filler. I switched on Netflix last week and watched Nicole Kidman's bizarre face during A Family Affair and I was horrified. She was a beautiful woman when younger, but now her face has so much filler and botox that her once lovely features are all disappearing as more and more filler is pumped in to decrease the lines. Couple with the fact that she can no longer emote as the frozen botox has made her face very mask like... Not to mention the really obvious looking wig she was wearing throughout.

Equally horrifying was her costar Zac Efron, who has had some sort of chin implant and has a totally different face today.

WTF?

Thank God for Frances McDormand & Kate Winslet!

Definitely the bushy eyebrows. I thought it was a wind up the first celeb I'd seen with them, I had to check with my much younger sisters, but yes, what's with that?

People with naturally bushy brows? 🤨

Cocothecoconut · 07/07/2024 16:11

Leggings/thick tights that go right up the arse crack and beige/ fawn all in ones that fit where they touch

lightsandtunnels · 07/07/2024 16:14

I wear dresses and trainers. I love dresses and as I am waiting for a knee replacement, I need shoes that are super comfy so I can actually walk.

I think if someone is happy in their little world with their big lips, eyebrows, tight bodysuits or, horror of horrors, a dress and (white!!) trainers then good on them.
What a bunch of judgemental buggers MN can be at times.
I bet you all look great.

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 07/07/2024 16:14

Wide legged jeans, as someone with an odd inside leg length (legs too long for short and too short for regular) I love the fact that I can roll skinnies up and not worry about either being ready for the floods or them dragging on the floor.

Agree about dresses and trainers unless they're converse or similar in the summer and you need something a bit more than a flat sandal.

In his defence, I read this week that Zac Efron had to have his face/chin reconstructed after a major accident.

Cream and beige bodysuits, shows every nook and cranny which the the rest of us dress to cover up. Added to it huge fake eyelashes and fake lips with thick brown makeup. All worn with sliders.

I can picture so vividly the look you're describing. I concur!
